CCTV appeal after man stabbed outside pub
A man has been stabbed after a row outside a pub in Southport, police have said.
The 24-year-old was wounded "following an argument with three other males, one of whom was wearing a balaclava" outside the Glasshouse in Lord Street at about 19:40 GMT on Friday, Merseyside Police said.
He was taken to hospital with injuries, which are not believed to be serious.
Officers have issued images of two men they want to speak to concerning the attack.
Det Insp Louise Johnson said: "Although the quality of the images is not ideal, we hope that it may trigger a memory from someone who may have seen these men in the area."
A 24-year-old man from Bootle has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.

Two men seriously injured by car at supermarket
Two people have been seriously injured by a car in a Lincolnshire supermarket car park. Lincolnshire Police said "a grey Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with two pedestrians" at the Co-op store in High Street, Wainfleet at around 07:28 BST on Wednesday. A man in his 80s has suffered life-threatening injuries and a man in his 70s suffered serious injuries. The vehicle stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made, the force added. Sean 'Diddy' Combs' attorneys end their defence case after only 20 minutes
Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team rested their case in his sex trafficking trial on Tuesday after making arguments for only about 20 minutes. Their short presentation followed nearly seven weeks of arguments and witness testimony brought by federal prosecutors in New York. The prosecution finished making their case Tuesday afternoon. His defence attorneys argued that the government has failed to meet the burden in proving any of the charges against him, which he's vehemently denied, and the judge should drop the case against him. Mr Combs also confirmed to the court that he would not take the stand in his own trial. "It's my decision with my lawyers" not to testify, he told the judge. Mr Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He faces up to life in prison if convicted in the scheme. Speaking for the first time in court in weeks on Tuesday, Mr Combs told Judge Arun Subramanian that he was "doing an excellent job". "I want to tell you thank you," the rapper told the judge. Prosecutors have alleged Mr Combs used his celebratory status and business empire to run a criminal enterprise to sex traffic women and conceal his crimes. Calling new witnesses can introduce more problems for the defence - and having Mr Combs take the stand would have been an even riskier move, hanging the case mostly on his testimony, Mr Epner said. Instead, Mr Combs' lawyers gave a quick presentation, showing messages in an attempt to bolster their argument that Mr Combs' girlfriends were willing participants in sexual encounters with him and male escorts, which were called freak-offs. Jailed paedophile given five more life sentences
A jailed child sex offender has been given an extra five life sentences after 13 more victims emerged following media coverage of his case. Former London bus driver Carson Grimes, 69, who lived in Luton, had admitted 24 further offences including rape and indecent assault. In 2021, Grimes was given two life sentences after being convicted of 36 serious sexual offences relating to nine victims after a trial. On Tuesday, Judge Allison Hunter imposed the additional life sentences during a hearing at Luton Crown Court. In 2021, a judge had said Grimes must spend a minimum of 22 years in jail before parole could be considered. Judge Hunter said on Tuesday that Grimes should now spend 22 years and nine months in prison before parole could be considered. She told Grimes: "I hope you never see the light of freedom again." The court heard how Grimes, of Dumfries Street, Luton, had admitted sex offences against 13 more victims - between 1987 and 2001. Detectives said media reporting, including an episode of the Channel 4 series 24 Hours in Police Custody, led to more people making allegations following the original trial. Victims of sex offences cannot be identified in media reports - unless they give permission. Judge Hunter said Grimes had systematically abused the "most vulnerable" children. She said the male victims featuring in the latest case had been boys aged between 11 and 16 when Grimes abused them. "You variously groomed and terrified them into submission," she said. "None of your victims had the remotest idea what they were getting into. "I am more than satisfied that you continue to pose the gravest of danger to children and young people of both sexes." The court heard how Grimes "created a frightening legend", showing his victims weapons and telling them he had been a commando. Alesdair King, for Grimes, said his client had health problems, adding it was likely he spend the rest of his life in jail. He said Grimes had admitted the latest offences. The original trial in 2021 heard how Grimes abused children in the 1980s when he lived in London, and his behaviour escalated when he moved to Bedfordshire and continued until about 2002. Jurors found him guilty of 19 counts of rape, 11 of indecent assault and six of indecency with a child. Grimes pleaded guilty to the 24 new charges at Luton Crown Court in April. Bedfordshire Police then described Grimes - also known as Carson Phillips - as one of "Bedfordshire's most prolific sex offenders" and one of his victims described his home as a "horror house". Det Insp Clare Gilbert described the paedophile as an "horrific predator". She had said he had said he had an "elevated sense of self-worth" and believed he could "prey on vulnerable children and get away with it".
