Corvette Z06 Discounts Are Growing as Dealer Lots Fill Up

Miami Herald2 days ago
Not too long ago, the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was one of the most anticipated cars in America. It aimed to take on European heavyweights like the McLaren 750S and Porsche 911 GT3 at a fraction of the price. With its mid-mounted flat-plane V8, it wasn't a traditional Corvette, but it still held to its performance roots. Now, things have shifted. More than 1,700 Z06s are sitting unsold on Chevrolet lots across North America, and the discounts are starting to show.
When the Z06 launched, demand far outpaced supply. People were willing to pay handsomely over MSRP to get one. But clearly, that buzz hasn't lasted. Interest shifted once GM showed off the top-of-the-range Corvette ZR1 and the hybrid ZR1X. Suddenly, once interested buyers, or even those who ordered a Z06, started jumping ship. But who can blame them? While the Z06 has a naturally aspirated V8 with 670 hp, the ZR1's twin-turbocharged V8 makes 1,067 hp. That's not even to mention the ZR1X that benefits from 1,250 hp.
With supply building up and fewer takers, dealers are starting to feel the pressure. Ironically, once highly sought-after Z06s are now selling below sticker. Using Chevrolet's online inventory tool, we found 3,678 C8 Corvettes currently for sale in North America. Out of that total, 1,701 are Z06s, which is more than twice the number of E-Rays available. In some cases, these Z06s are being discounted by over $10,000. For example, Clark Chevrolet in Texas has a 2025 Corvette Z06 1LZ listed for $109,209 – $12,000 lower than its MSRP.
If you've been contemplating pulling the trigger on a Z06, now might be your moment. After all, it is still one of the best bang-for-your-buck performance cars money can buy, rivaling exotics that cost more than double its price. The Z06 might not be the hot ticket it once was, especially with the ZR1 in the picture, but that's not a bad thing for enthusiasts. For the first time since launch, you can walk into a dealer, pick your perfect spec, and buy one without feeling swindled. And in the era of hybrid and electric supercars, the naturally aspirated Z06 is starting to look like the last of a dying breed.

'Game On:' Ford CEO Responds to the Corvette's Nürburgring Record

The Ford Mustang GTD only held the record for the fastest American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a little over 7 months. Ford announced a 6:57.685 lap back in December , and bettered it with a 6:52.07 a few months later , but Chevrolet just took the crown with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Ford's response? "Game on." That came directly from CEO Jim Farley, who replied "[c]ongrats to the Corvette team. Game on!" on an Instagram post from the official Corvette page. The Drive was the first to bring our attention to Farley's comment. Ford could go back to the 'Ring with the Mustang GTD, but that car is at somewhat of a disadvantage to the ZR1 and ZR1X. The Mustang GTD weighs over 4,300 pounds based on EPA documents that Road & Track reported on back in February, while Car and Driver measured the ZR1 at 3,831 pounds. Chevy hasn't revealed a weight figure for the ZR1X, but it's reasonable to expect it to eclipse the 4,000-pound mark. The Mustang GTD has 815 horsepower, which is a lot, but the ZR1 makes 1,064 hp, and the ZR1X ups it to 1,250 hp. Power and weight figures aren't everything, but they do count for a ton. Still, the GTD has a very advanced suspension system, huge Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and an extremely advanced aero package that includes a Formula 1-style drag-reduction system to stall the wing on straights. In any case, we don't know if Ford has anything planned. Farley surely wants to take back the record—he's a racer himself and he's pushing performance hard with the Mustang—but Ford isn't going to go to the 'Ring unless it knows it at least has a chance of beating the Corvette's time. There could be more time in the GTD, but Ford may also need to wait until it has its next, greatest thing to beat Chevy. Ford Begins August With Another Massive Safety Recall For Its Most Popular Vehicles

It's a new month, but the same old problems for Ford. The automaker has issued an average of one recall every two days in the first half of 2025, breaking an infamous GM recall record, and as we get deeper into the second half of the year, the problems keep coming. As first reported by Reuters, the Blue Oval today recalled 312,120 vehicles for an issue that could compromise braking performance. According to the filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue lies with a faulty module in the electronic brake booster. When this malfunctions, whether during regular driving or while using an advanced driver assistance system like BlueCruise, affected vehicles may experience a loss of power brake assistance. The brakes will still presumably work with enough pressure applied (Ford has not warned owners not to drive affected vehicles), but stopping distances will be extended, thus increasing the risk of a crash. Fortunately, no injuries or incidents have been reported, and the brake module seems to reset after completing a sleep cycle when the vehicle is off. All affected vehicles are from the 2025 model year, though their production dates may extend as far back as late 2023. Fortunately, this is easy to fix, with an over-the-air update performed by either the customer or a dealer at no cost to the owner. Notification letters are expected to be mailed on the 25th of August, but if you'd rather check if your vehicle is covered now, trecall number 25S77 refers. Related: Ford Recalls 23,000 Lincoln Aviators Over Dangerous Window Pinching Issue According to the recall report, 7,104 Lincoln Navigator SUVs are affected, along with 20,552 Ford Rangers, 39,913 Ford Broncos, and 26,582 Ford Expedition SUVs. Ford's bread and butter, the F-150, is unsurprisingly the worst affected, with 217,969 examples mentioned. As is often the case with these small issues, only 1% of the 312,120 vehicles are estimated to have the defect, but still, it's a bad look when Ford continues to suffer issues with highly popular vehicles produced so recently. To be fair, Ford Authority reported back in 2022 that CEO Jim Farley said improving quality would take several years. 2025 Lincoln Navigator - November 9, 2023-June 9, 20252025 Ford Ranger - February 5, 2024-June 20, 20252025 Ford Bronco - May 31, 2024-June 17, 20252025 Ford Expedition - November 8, 2023-June 9,20252025 Ford F-150 - May 8, 2024-June 9, 2025 Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc.
