Madagaon to cricket world: How a wrong SIM led to calls from Kohli and ABD
In a remote Chhattisgarh village, an ordinary day turned extraordinary when Manish Bisi, in his 20s, claimed he began receiving calls from cricket icons Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers soon after activating a SIM card. Other Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players, including Yash Dayal, also reportedly called. Unaware of the whirlwind ahead, Manish, a resident of Madagaon in Gariaband district, passed the phone to his friend Khemraj Bisi, thinking the calls were pranks. By sheer coincidence, the SIM card had once belonged to RCB captain Rajat Patidar. From shock to confusion Khemraj, speaking to the media, said he took over the calls because Manish was "scared." The first was from Kohli, followed by one from Yash Dayal asking why Patidar's number was being used. "I said it is not his number," Khemraj recalled. In a recent shift, Patidar had taken over the RCB captaincy, who led the team to its first Indian Premier League title in 18 years. Minutes later, Kohli called again to question the use of Patidar's number and WhatsApp account. Half an hour after that, AB de Villiers was on the line — a conversation Khemraj admitted he barely understood due to the language barrier. Police step in A family's delight The moment was described with pride by Manish's father, Gajendra, a farmer, who said it was a matter of great happiness that Virat Kohli had been spoken to by his son. It was explained by another villager, Tikendra Bisi, that Manish had been summoned to the police station. There, it was learned that the SIM card, registered in Rajat Patidar's name, had been mistakenly allotted to Manish. When asked if the SIM should be returned, agreement was given. How the mix-up happened Deputy SP of Gariaband district, Nisha Sinha, pieced together the unusual sequence. Patidar had not used the SIM for 90 days, leading the service provider to deactivate it and reassign it to Manish Bisi. After consultation with the Indore cyber cell and with Manish's consent, the number was returned to Patidar. As the cricketer had previously used the SIM, calls from teammates continued to come through. Sinha clarified, "There is no legal issue or fault on anyone's part."

Never imagined would speak to Virat Kohli: Fans recall Patidar sim mix-up experience
Manish Bisi and his friend Khemraj recalled the experience of talking to Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers of being 'something out of a movie' after they were given the number of Rajat Patidar in a SIM card mix-up. Manish got the SIM card from a local mobile shop near his Madagaon village in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district and was in for a shock of a lifetime as the number previously belonged to Patidar. advertisementSoon, Manish and his friend Khemraj were fielding calls from renowned cricketers, including Kohli and De Villiers. At first, the duo saw that Patidar's picture came up when they installed WhatsApp and thought it was a system glitch. However, soon they started to get calls, which they thought were part of a prank from their friends. Later on, Manish and Khemraj got a call from Patidar on July 15, who asked them to return the number. They understood the seriousness of the matter when police arrived at their doorstep to resolve the matter. However, the duo were thrilled with the whole episode, with Khemraj struggling to hide his excitement after speaking to his idol Kohli. "I never imagined I would speak to Virat Kohli one day, and that too from our village. When AB de Villiers called, he spoke in English. We couldn't understand a word, but we were so thrilled," said Khemraj as quoted by PTI. "When Manish used to get calls, he would hand over the phone to me. The callers who identified themselves as Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal asked us why we were using Patidar's number. We explained to them we had bought a new SIM and this is our number."Manish's brother said that the villagers were also thrilled with the whole mix-up as most of them are RCB fans. The villagers are overjoyed because most people here are RCB fans and talking to legends like Kohli and de Villiers is something that cannot be described and even now seems like a dream, said Manish's brother Deshbandhu Bisi."Even if it was all due to a mix-up, these conversations happened out of sheer luck. People just dream of seeing them, we got to speak to them," Deshbandhu foul Gariaband Deputy Superintendent of Police Neha Sinha said that the Patidar's SIM had been deactivated after 90 days of inactivity as per the telecom policies and was reassigned to a new customer, in this case Manish. Sinha said that there was no legal issue or fault on anyone's part. "Manish was actually getting calls from cricketers who were in contact with Rajat Patidar. Patidar informed the Madhya Pradesh Cyber Cell that his number had been allotted to someone else and requested to have it back.""There was no legal issue or fault on anyone's part. This was simply a result of standard telecom procedures," Sinha the consent of Manish and his family, the SIM card was returned back to Patidar recently. - EndsMust Watch

Rajat Patidar's old jersey number assigned to Chhattisgarh players, sparks conversation with Kohli and ABD
Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar recently encountered an incident which involved some cricket fans in Chhattisgarh and the local police. Although the police were involved, the situation wasn't as serious as it might seem. The incident revolves around Patidar's old mobile number, which the telecom provider deactivated after it was inactive for more than ninety days. The number was then reassigned to a boy named Manish from Gariaband district in Chhattisgarh, sparking a series of amusing events. Rajat Patidar old SIM sparks confusion On June 28, Manish purchased a new Reliance Jio SIM card from a nearby mobile store, but what transpired next was somewhat unexpected, according to NDTV. WhatsApp loaded Patidar's photo as the profile picture after the mobile number was activated. Manish and his friend Khemraj ignored it, but they had just made it onto the Indian cricketing community's VIP contact list. Manish's phone began ringing with calls from cricket legends. According to reports, even Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers reached out to the number. Manish and Khemraj found it amusing, until Patidar himself called to clarify the situation. 'Bhai, I'm Rajat Patidar. That number is mine, please return it,' the cricketer, as per NDTV, said on the call. What followed was even more humorous. Manish and Khemraj responded that they didn't think Patidar was on the line, and replied 'And we're MS Dhoni.' Patidar forced to involve Police Patidar had to explain everything, saying that the number was important because it allowed him to communicate with his friends, coaches, and other people. But neither of them was convinced. The captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore then issued a warning, saying 'Okay, I'll send the cops.' Within ten minutes, the local police arrived at Manish's house, and he realized that the incident was serious. They never had the idea, but they eventually spoke with AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. 'I got to speak to Kohli because of a wrong number. My life's goal is complete,' Khemraj was quoted as saying. Without hesitation, both friends gave the SIM card back.
