Aamir Khan honoured to portray Dadasaheb Phalke with Rajkumar Hirani in biopic: 'Phalke is a huge challenge'
Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are teaming up for a Dadasaheb Phalke biopic, filming in late 2025. The film will blend drama and comedy, reflecting their signature style. Meanwhile, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is nearing Rs 100 crore, solidifying its box office success.
Earlier this year, news broke that
Aamir Khan
and
Rajkumar Hirani
would join forces once again after their blockbuster hits '3 Idiots' and 'PK'. They soon confirmed their collaboration, revealing the project as a biopic on
Dadasaheb Phalke
, set to release at Christmas 2026.
Since then, excitement has been building around the film. During an interview celebrating Sitaare Zameen Par's success, Aamir Khan shared insights about reuniting with Hirani.
A Significant and Challenging Project
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Aamir revealed that filming for the biopic will commence in the final quarter of 2025, with preparations already underway. He described the project as a significant undertaking, stating, 'I think, Phalke is a huge challenge.
Again, it's not a regular mainstream film loaded with action and set pieces. It is the story of a man, who did things that no one could even imagine back in the day.
He was way ahead, he was an adventurer, he was a person who was full of life, and excitement about something he wanted to do. It is one man's journey on an adventure, which even he does not know about. It will be a great honour for Raju and me to make a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke.'
Blending Drama with Comedy
All of Aamir and Hirani's collaborations, including '3 Idiots' and 'PK', have been known for their strong comedic elements. When discussing whether the biopic 'Phalke' would also incorporate humor, Aamir explained that both he and the writer Abhijat Joshi share a special inclination towards comedy, as does Hirani. He mentioned that the three of them enjoy working within the genre that blends drama with humor, and this upcoming film will likely follow the same approach.
'Sitaare Zameen Par' Nears Rs 100 Crore Milestone
'Sitaare Zameen Par' is quickly approaching the Rs 100 crore milestone within just nine days of its release, establishing itself as a box office hit. Directed by RS Prassana, the film is expected to achieve a clean hit status once it surpasses Rs 150 crore in India, likely during its third weekend.

Ram Kapoor recalls financial struggles in his early acting days; says, 'Lived off Gautami's income for some time after the marriage'
Actor Ram Kapoor is all over the news for a number of reasons. From his drastic weight loss transformation to making headlines for 'inappropriate statements,' buying a Lamborghini Urus, and more, the actor has kept fans hooked with his latest updates. Ram recently gave an interview to Humans Of Bombay, where he opened up about his acting journey, financial struggles in his early acting days, and more. He revealed how he used to earn Rs 1,500 and lived off wife Gautami's income for a while after marriage. Ram mentioned how an actor's life is very unpredictable and either they could be earning great or be struggling financially, and it could be a dog's life. He further revealed how actors like Ronit Roy , Sakshi Tanwar, and more have earned a lot in their acting careers and have made the right financial decisions. He shared, 'When you make it to the top like Ronit Roy, Sakshi, and me, and you are sensible, then you have made enough for your three to four generations. I know Ronit and Sakshi have done this, and they are set for four generations. For 15 to 20 years, I made a salary cheque of a ridiculously high amount. If you are sensible with your investments, you are set. Television is a dog's life; if you make it, then it's fine. I started with Rs 1,500 a month and lived off Gautami's income for some time after the marriage. ' He even revealed how successful actors like Ronit Roy have many houses and properties. Moreover, he mentioned actress Sakshi Tanwar has made enough money for generations. He praised them for making the right financial decisions and investments in their life. Ram Kapoor shared, 'People like Ronit… he has a lot of houses, vacation homes, and such a fantastic villa in Goa. He has been sensible because he started in films, and he didn't make it in films. He was a flop actor in films, and he didn't have the money to eat. Then Ektaa Kapoor took him on. In television, he never looked back. He had seen failure, so when he got success, he respected it from day one. Same for Sakshi. She is a very sensible girl. She doesn't like fancy cars like I do. She has enough money for six generations because she spends it very wisely. If you spend money wisely, then you will have money for a lot of things on television.'

Two months on, artistes of Basavadi Sharanara Vaibhava still await pay
Bagalkot: Despite the grand success of the Basava Vaibhava celebrations at Kudalasangama two months ago — attended by chief minister Siddaramaiah and other ministers — nearly 600 artistes from 54 teams across the state who performed are still waiting for their remuneration. While the district administration claims that the Kannada and culture department is responsible for the disbursement, the department has reportedly passed the buck to the local authorities. The delay has caused frustration among artistes. Raju, a convenor of Shivasanchara Sanehalli, told TOI that his team presented plays during Basava Vaibhava held on April 29 and 30. "Kannada & Culture department officials asked about the possible expenses of our team, and our Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swamiji said it would be about Rs 75,000. Now it is almost two months, and we don't know when we will get the remuneration. Whenever we ask, officials say it will be released soon," he stated. Sources in the Bagalkot district administration said that initially, the event was planned for a day at a cost of Rs 1.1 crore. "Later, it was extended to two days with a budget proposal of Rs 3 crore. Senior officials from Bengaluru revised the cost to Rs 4.5 crore, and a fresh proposal was submitted," they added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Karasangayya Gudi, a resident of Kudalasangama, said that local artistes were kept away from the event. "Now, it's a shame on the part of the govt that it is making artistes from other districts wait for their remuneration for months. It should have been given on the occasion itself, and that is our culture," he commented. It is learnt that a remuneration of Rs one lakh is yet to be given to scholars who presented papers during the event. Requesting anonymity, a scholar who presented his paper said he has not received any remuneration for his lecture. "If we present our thoughts in any school-college or local organisations' seminars, we get the remuneration on the spot. However, the govt is taking months together," he rued. District minister RB Timmapur said he would check with the officials. Kannada and culture minister Shivaraj Tangadagi said that his department has already transferred the funds of Rs 3 crore to the district administration, and the administration should distribute it to the artists. However, Bagalkot deputy commissioner was not available for comment.
