The southbound lanes of Interstate 471 approaching the Daniel Carter Bridge reopened Sunday night, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
As originally reported by News Center 7, the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge sustained 'significant damage on the Ohio approach,' Matt Bruning, ODOT spokesperson, said on Nov. 1.

The opening came exactly 100 days after a fire damaged the roadway.
'Reopening southbound access to this bridge in just over three months is a tremendous accomplishment,' said Governor DeWine on Friday. 'The closure of these lanes wasn't only an inconvenience, but also a disruption to the supply chain. I applaud our ODOT team and their partners for working hard to finish the project ahead of schedule.'
ODOT, Great Lakes Construction, and at least two dozen sub-contractors worked to design both the bridge's demolition and reconstruction.
Our news partner WCPO in Cincinnati reports that crews put the finishing touches on the bridges.
This included 'grinding and grooving the newly cured concrete deck and some final welding below the expansion seal,' WCPO said.
ODOT crews took down barricades, signs, and cones from the closure on Sunday. They also painted the line markings for the interstate.

Hwy 26's ‘The Bump' to be repaired after season of sending cars airborne
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Road crews are coming to U.S. 26 — and it's in the same spot as until just a few months ago. The major roadwork near Milepost 13 — roughly 20 miles east of Seaside — is set to begin Monday, Aug. 18 as crews work to excavate ditches on both sides of the road, install several new drainpipes with rock and filter fabric, repave asphalt, and more. Oregon tourism suffers as Canadians boycott US over Trump According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, drivers should expect 'significant delays' as traffic will be reduced by one lane in each direction Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The repairs come months after crews removed roughly 100 feet of asphalt in the same area that had been damaged and turned into an 'upside-down slide' For months, the sunken grade sent cars into the air, despite a previously posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour. Locals dubbed it 'The Bump,' as first reported by KOIN 6 News last March. $44K Rolex stolen in Lake Oswego, handyman sentenced According to ODOT, a geographical 'slide' in the area causes the road to shift as underground water pressure pushes the pavement upward, adding the location has been 'particularly active' this year. Since repairs began in March, a 25 mph speed limit has been in effect. The limit is expected to be in place until repairs are finished. Stay with KOIN 6 News as this story develops. Major construction project on I-90 starts Monday
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A years-long rehabilitation project to completely re-do a portion of Interstate 90 west of Cleveland will begin on Monday. A stretch between Hilliard and West Boulevards near Rocky River and Lakewood will undergo a complete overhaul of the pavement from the ground up, according to ODOT. I-TEAM: Why were Lorain officers shot? Still not clear The plan also includes a new concrete median, new street lights, and improved drainage in an area that has had flash flooding in the past. On Monday, contractors will begin adding temporary pavement to be able to divert traffic. By Friday, both the eastbound and westbound lanes will be shifted toward the outer shoulders. That new traffic pattern will stick around until next spring, Brent Kovacs said. Kovacs, the public information officer for ODOT's 12th district, added that this portion of the road was put in in the 1960s and 70s. 'The thing motorists may not understand is that the surface may look smooth that they drive on, but it's really the base material that is starting to fail and that we need to replace,' he said. 'It has well exceeded its lifespan, and once this project is done, it'll be decades and decades until we have to come back and do something here.' Families of officers hold lemonade stand for Lorain police after deadly attack Lane restrictions and ramp closures are expected throughout the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed by the fall of 2028. 'Please slow down. Follow the posted speed limit and give more space to the vehicles around you and going through these construction zones,' Kovacs said. He also suggested allowing more time for your commute in the early part of the project as drivers adjust to the shifted traffic pattern.
