My grandad used sick ‘Minnie Mouse game' to sexually abuse me from age 5… monster stole my childhood but I made him pay
LIKE most little girls, Jasmin Flint was Disney-obsessed, getting lost in the magical world of her favourite princesses.
She'd spend hours watching fairytale films like Beauty and the Beast, along with her younger sister and mum.

Their home was filled with film memorabilia, with Jasmin's step-grandad, Melvin Denton, often treating the girls to second-hand Disney gifts.
But when she was five, Denton preyed on her innocent love for the popular fictional characters in a sick plot.
Under the guise of playing a game of "Minnie and Mickey", he sexually abused Jasmin for his own perverted pleasure for three years at her nan's home.
Twenty four years on, in September 2021, mum-of-three Jasmin finally found the courage to report him to police after bumping into her abuser in a supermarket.
Last month, the 79-year-old predator was jailed for ten years for four counts of gross indecency and five counts of indecent assault with a child under 14.
Jasmin, from Lincolnshire, says: 'Knowing Melvin will die behind bars gives me some comfort.
'But I hate anything Disney now. I won't let my children wear anything character-themed and barely let them out of my sight.
'Melvin preyed on me in the wickedest way by exploiting my love for innocent children's characters.
'He's a monster.'
My childhood abuser walked free -Life stories
As a child, Denton was her dad's stepdad, but she called him Grandad and doted on him.
While her younger sister stayed home with her mum, Jasmin spent every weekend at the home he shared with her nana.
She remembers: 'They spoiled me and would often buy me new CDs and let me watch TV until late.
'Nana would cook me any dinner I liked, too.'
But everything changed when Jasmin turned five.
Twisted game
Jasmin recalls: 'One night, he took me into his bedroom and asked if I wanted to play a game of Mickey and Minnie.
'I was so excited and agreed.'

With that, Denton ushered Jasmin to sit on his lap so he could carry out his sick abuse.
She added: 'He was laughing, so I thought it was fun and was happy to play.
'Afterwards, he stopped and told me it was a secret and not to tell anyone as they'd want to play too. I agreed.'
From then on, every weekend, during bedtime, while her nana was watching TV downstairs, Denton played the "game".
The following year, when Jasmin was aged six, her nana came home and disturbed Denton while he was carrying out the sick abuse.
Jasmin explains: 'Nana had come back early from church and when the door went, Melvin bolted up.
'As he went downstairs to greet my nana, I followed him.
'Before she saw me he barked at me to go and get dressed.'
Then, when she turned seven, the abuse became more aggressive.
Jasmin says: 'I started to cry as a massive burning pain shot through me.
'In agony, I told him I didn't want to carry on so he tucked me in bed, kissing me goodnight.'
'My life began to spiral'
The following year, aged eight, Jasmin suddenly stopped seeing Denton.
She says: 'One day, Mum said I wasn't going back to theirs.
'I was devastated and missed playing Minnie and Mickey.
'I blamed her for breaking up the family.'
It wasn't until years later, when Jasmin turned 13, during school she realised she'd been abused.
'I confided in a friend about what had happened but she seemed to think it was normal,' Jasmin says.
'That's when my life began to spiral.
'I began skipping school and I rebelled against my mum - our relationship was very strained.'
Aged 19, she had her daughter which Jasmin credits for getting her life back on track.
She says: 'Having her saved me. But I hated people touching or kissing her.
'I was fiercely protective of her.'
Then, in August 2018, she met her now partner and they had a little girl together before going on to have another in August 2021.
That month, she was in the supermarket with her mum and younger daughters when she bumped into Denton.
While he didn't speak to Jasmin, he clearly recognised her and smirked.
Panicked, she raced to the bathroom.
She says: 'I was hysterical and couldn't breathe.
'It took me 15 minutes to gather myself.'
That night Jasmin finally confessed to her mum all about Denton's abuse.
Her mum was totally supportive and encouraged her to report him, but Jasmin wasn't ready.
The following month, after suffering numerous panic attacks and nightmares, she plucked up the courage to phone the police.
She gave a video statement and Denton was arrested.
Three years later, she took the stand at Grimsby Crown Court to give evidence against him.
Denton was found guilty of multiple sexual offences against Jasmin and jailed for ten years.
Jasmin says: 'Melvin tried to control me until the very end. Delaying his sentencing four times by claiming he was ill.
'But I was determined not to let him win.
'Now I have justice. I want others to know they can too.
'It's a hard process but it's worth it.
'Melvin was a real-life villain and I'll never forgive him for stealing my childhood away.'

Baroness Bra and her billionaire husband net a £2million profit as they sell two more UK homes... with friends suggesting they want to start a new life in Miami
Michelle Mone and her billionaire husband Doug Barrowman are offloading some of their British properties as friends say they want to start a new life in Miami, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. Records show Baroness 'Bra', 53, and Mr Barrowman, 60, have sold two Glasgow townhouses to celebrity friends in the last 12 months – making £2 million in profit. A mews house in Chelsea, west London, linked to Ms Mone's son Declan's firm has also been sold for £2.185 million to a senior member of a Middle Eastern Royal Family. And last year the couple sold their £19 million London home and the £6.8 million Lady M yacht. Ms Mone's friends last night said she had told them she is seeking to start afresh in Miami, Florida. The couple are at the centre of an anti-corruption probe by the National Crime Agency which saw £75 million of their assets frozen. The agency is investigating PPE Medpro, led by Mr Barrowman, which was awarded a government contract to supply protective equipment during Covid after being placed in a priority lane on the recommendation of Ms Mone. Paperwork suggests the firm paid Mr Barrowman £60 million in 'profit', prompting him to put £29 million into a trust benefiting Ms Mone and her children. Soon after they received the cash boost, firms registered on the Isle of Man and linked to Mr Barrowman's Knox Group – Breck Ltd, Bagshaw Ltd and Praeban Ltd – bought a series of properties on Park Circus in Glasgow's West End costing £10,025,000. Between December 2020 and August 2022 the firms bought nine homes in the area. Yet in December 2023, a number of the properties were frozen under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Now a Mail on Sunday investigation shows the couple have begun to offload some of their empire. There is no suggestion that any of the sales breached existing orders. One house has been bought by Ms Mone's friend Nick Haddow, a photographer who shot her Ultimo bra campaign with supermodel Helena Christensen in 2006. The house was bought in 2020 for £1.7 million by a firm co-owned by Mr Barrowman's Knox group but records show it was sold to Mr Haddow's company Haddow and Lobjani Ltd last year for £2 million. Another nearby home bought in July 2020 for £1.425 million was sold to a Scottish rock star for £2.8 million earlier this year. Firms linked to the couple are thought to have made around £2 million in profits on the homes. Our probe shows they could be earning around £21,500 a month by letting some of the other homes. The Department of Health is suing PPE Medpro over claims that gowns supplied by the firm were not fit for use.

Bruce Springsteen joined by Paul McCartney at Liverpool concert
Singer Bruce Springsteen brought out a special guest at his show in Liverpool as he performed with local star Sir Paul McCartney. The American musician was joined on stage by the 82-year-old Beatles star during the second of two shows at Anfield stadium on Saturday, with Sir Paul then providing vocals as the pair played the band's Can't Buy Me Love. Springsteen, 75, and his E Street Band are in the UK as part of his Land of Hope and Dreams Tour, which kicked off with three shows in Manchester last month. Footage shared on social media showed the surprised crowd cheering loudly as Sir Paul was introduced, before he then playfully pointed at Springsteen and the pair shared an embrace. Before he left the stage after their performance, Sir Paul addressed the crowd and reportedly said: 'Thank you, Scousers.' The two men have previously performed together on several occasions, most notably when Sir Paul delivered a headline set at Glastonbury in 2022. Announced as a surprise all the way from the east coast of America, Springsteen joined Sir Paul, who became the festival's oldest solo headliner, as they played hits Glory Days and I Wanna Be Your Man on the Pyramid Stage. In 2012, Sir Paul had joined Springsteen on stage at the end of the singer's headline slot at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, London, but both stars found their microphones cut off before they could address the crowds after exceeding the curfew. Beginning his career in the 1960s, Springsteen has gone on to have 12 UK top 10 albums and four UK top 10 singles and is best known for songs such as Born In The USA, Dancing In The Dark and Born To Run. His Land of Hope and Dreams Tour, which includes 16 dates across six European countries, will conclude in Milan, Italy, on July 3.

Go to anti-misogyny lessons? Succession star Brian Cox channels his inner Logan Roy as he says he is 'f****** sick' of woke sensitivity training
It's not hard to imagine what Logan Roy's response would be if he was asked to attend anti- misogyny training. And it seems Brian Cox thought much the same as his Succession character would as he gave typically short shrift to lessons that he is required to take before his upcoming play. The Scottish actor, 79, told The Mail on Sunday: 'It's all so proper, and I'm so f****** sick of proper. It's all very conditioned and it's about as deep as a blackhead, quite frankly. 'I'm a bit long in the tooth to do any anti-misogyny training. It's for much younger people than me.' Cox is returning to the stage in his home country for the first time in a decade to star in Make It Happen, a satire of the downfall of the Royal Bank of Scotland during the 2008 financial crisis. He will star as the ghost of Scottish economist and philosopher Adam Smith in the play, written by James Graham and directed by Adam Panton. The National Theatre of Scotland, which is staging the production, also asked white actors to attend anti-racism training – saying it was 'not compulsory for people of colour or from the global majority [which includes anyone who is not white]'. However, following a complaint from the Free Speech Union that the policy treated 'members of one racial group less favourably', the theatre ordered a review. It is now understood that black actors have been told to attend the training as well. The Free Speech Union reported the theatre to the UK equality watchdog under the Equality Act, which prohibits employers from treating staff differently based on race, skin colour, nationality and ethnic origin. Cox told the MoS he was feeling 'all right' about starting rehearsals for the play, which will open at the Edinburgh International Festival on July 30. He celebrated his birthday last week at the Berkshire Film Festival in Massachusetts, where he was a guest of honour. The National Theatre of Scotland said: 'We acknowledge that use of the correct language around the offer of this training is important and this is currently under review.'
