Irish Rail workers rescue horse and cow that strayed onto train tracks in Kildare and Meath
Irish Rail have apologised for any delays to rail services as a result of the horse and cow on the train tracks Today at 10:00 A horse and cow that separately wandered onto train tracks in counties Kildare and Meath this morning have both been safely removed, Irish Rail have confirmed. The first stray animal was a cow that appeared on the train tracks between Dunboyne in Co Meath and Hansfield in Co Dublin. Irish Rail crews managed to capture the cow after it made its way to Hansfield Train Station and onto the station platform, waiting safely behind the yellow line. Separately, a horse strayed onto the train tracks near Leixlip in Co Kildare. Irish Rail worker, Nigel, put his horse whispering skills to the test and manged to safely catch the horse and remove it from the tracks. In a tongue in cheek post on X (formerly Twitter) Irish Rail said: "All in a days work for our great infrastructure teams. Bulling to get to work at Hansfield but staying behind the yellow line, and Nigel is a horse of a man helping another stray from the line near Leixlip. "Men and beasts safe and well. Apologies for resulting delays.'

Train staff herd a cow and horse from rail lines after service delays
