Producer of Gaza documentary pledges to tell more stories after receiving Bafta

Filmmaker Jamie Roberts took home the award for best Single Documentary at the 2025 Bafta TV Awards for directing Ukraine: Enemy In The Woods.
He also directed and produced the documentary Gaza: How To Survive a Warzone, but it was removed from BBC iPlayer early this year after the broadcaster said it had 'identified serious flaws' in the making of the programme.
The BBC apologised and said it would be conducting a review of the programme.
Roberts said he was confident he would be able to continue making films telling important stories after the BBC concludes its investigation.
The filmmaker did not comment on the investigation when asked at the winners' room after collecting his prize.
'I'm confident we'll be able to keep making films telling important stories. I can't talk about the inquiry at the moment,' he said.
He added that the 'world is on fire at the moment' but has pledged to continue filmmaking because 'there's so many important stories to tell'.
He was awarded the Bafta for directing the BBC documentary, which portrays the lives of Ukrainian soldiers on the front line as filmed by them.
He has since called for more cutting-edge documentations to dispel 'misinformation and lies'.
'It's really important. I mean, I think just factual stories, issues like Ukraine, like Gaza, healthcare in the UK, all these things that sometimes people might find dull or boring,' he said.
'It's important to try and make films that cut through to be able to tell these stories, because I think it's important we know what's happening in the world, especially with so much misinformation and lies.
'The narrative in Ukraine, with the Russian war is being argued over, so to be able to see what's happening through people's eyes that are on the ground there is important otherwise you can be misled.'
He said winning the award felt 'surreal', but added the win was fitting to remember those who died in the war.
'It's fitting for us because some of the people in the film are not no longer with us, and I think it meant a lot to them to be able to tell their film, and it means a lot to us to pick up this award,' he said.
'I'm confident we'll be able to keep making films telling important stories.
'The world is on fire at the moment.
'There's so many important stories to tell. I've done this for a long time, and want to be able to continue doing that.'
The Bafta TV Awards were hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming and was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

5 times Stirling and Stirlingshire have featured on property TV shows

A Bridge of Allan family recently appeared on Location, Location, Location. It's not the first time Stirlingshire has featured on a property television show; from Scotland's Home of the Year to Love It or List It, viewers love a peek inside other people's homes. From hunting for the perfect home to renovating run-down rooms – here are five times Stirling or Stirlingshire has featured on property TV shows. A mother and daughter enlisted the help of Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp on Location, Location, Location to find their dream home in Stirling. The Channel 4 show, featuring Lorraine Macleod and Emma Carman, aired in June 2025. The pair, who were living with Lorraine's parents, viewed four homes within their budget of £275,000. However, despite offering well above the asking price for a cottage in Torbrex, Lorraine and Emma lost out on the property. Luckily, they found their dream three-bedroom townhouse in Bridge of Allan for £255,000 after the show. Scotland's Home of the Year has featured several Stirlingshire homes since it first aired in 2019. This year, a steading conversion in Deanston was part of the BBC show. The Dairy, owned by Mhairi and Andrew Wilson since 2023, boasts impressive views over the Trossachs. In 2024, a mill conversion near Dunblane was part of the series. The 200-year-old building had been abandoned for 25 years before it was lovingly restored by Lee and Dawn Collins. Plus, a Georgian renovation in rural Killearn was crowned the winner in 2021. Judges loved The Moss' 'dreamy pink interior' which included a pink Aga cooker in the kitchen. TV presenter Kaye Adams appeared on a celebrity edition of Escape to the Country last year. The Loose Women presenter viewed four properties in Stirlingshire to find a three-bedroom home with open plan living, a garden and space to record her podcast. Kaye, who had a budget of £850,000, said her favourite house looked over Loch Ard. An episode of Homes Under the Hammer featured a Stirling flat last year. A Musical Sink saw host Martel Maxwell, from Dundee, follow Ross as he purchased a damp run-down property in the city centre. He bought the two to three-bedroom flat prior to auction for £135,000 and carried out a five-month renovation to restore it to its former glory. Ross invested £35,000 into the works and turned the property into a short-term let. A property expert valued it as worth £180,000 to £200,000 – a profit of up to £30,000. Kirstie and Phil's Love It or List It has also had a Stirlingshire episode. In series two, the hosts set out to help Karyn and Duncan in the Carron Valley. The couple had been arguing for two years over what to do about their three-bed rural semi. Phil took Karyn and Duncan to view properties in Fife, Strathyre and Sauchie, while Kirstie inspired a £40,000 upgrade. At the end of the 2016 episode, they decided to keep the property.

Absolutely Everything We Know About British Actor Adam Long

The British actor Adam Long could have a new love interest according to new pictures that are doing the rounds on the internet. In photographs published by The Daily Mail, Adam Long can be seen on what appears to be a coffee date with fellow actor Aimee Lou Wood. In the pictures, they can be seen kissing and hugging outside a cafe in London while enjoying some drinks. You might recognise Long from his role in ITV's 2019 show The Bay, where he played the role of a construction worker called Vincent. But while Adam Long seems to keep a relatively low profile day to day, he's got a whole host of other huge shows under his belt - and plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline. Adam Long is a British actor, who is most well known for his role as Lewis Whippey in Happy Valley. He also starred in Dunkirk, Spike Island, Vera, Waterloo Road, The Thirteenth Tale, Act Of Grace and the award winning TV drama Don't Take My Baby. In 2019, he was in two movies called The Kill Team and The Corrupted. Adam was born on 25 April 1991, making him 34 years old. Neither Aimee or Adam have commented on their relationship status, but rumours are flying thanks to the recent pictures. Both Aimee and Adam star in the upcoming BBC romantic comedy-drama Film Club, which will air later in 2025, and online reports have noted that Aimee has liked all of Adam's social media posts since their casting was announced last November. Aimee also praised Adam after he completed a sponsored run in aid of Movember and men's mental health awareness. Under a picture he shared on Instagram, Aimee wrote 'YOU DID IT!!!!!!!' It's believed Adam met Aimee while working on the upcoming BBC series. Fittingly, the two of them play an on-screen couple in the show. Now, rumours that the pair are an item are ramping up off-screen too. A source who spotted her with Adam in South London told The Sun: 'They looked smitten with one another. They were hugging and kissing and she kept draping her arm around his neck while his hand was on her knee. They looked very comfy together — a vision of love's young dream.' Yes! You can keep up to date with all things Adam at @itsadamlong. Yes, Adam Long plays Evie's boyfriend Josh in Film Club. The BBC romantic-comedy drama, which is created by Aimee Lou Wood and Ralph Davies, will air later in 2025. Alongside Adam Long, the show stars Nabhaan Rizwaan and Doctor Foster's Suranne Jones, and filming for it wrapped earlier this year. A BBC synopsis for the show reads: 'It's Friday night. 7pm. Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn't left the house in six months after a 'wobble', and tonight, things are different.' It continues: 'Noa's got big news. A dream job is taking him across the other side of the country, which means that all of this is ending. That reality is hitting. That they're going to be forced to consider for the first time they might be more than just friends. Neither of them are the best when it comes to emotions but this time those emotions might be impossible to ignore...' The synopsis sums up Film Club by describing it as 'witty' and emotional,' show about 'love and family, about whether we should follow our hearts or heads, and being in love with a friend.'

BBC star 'will be absent from another series of beloved show as replaced named'

BBC viewers are awaiting another series of long-running consumer show Rip Off Britain and it's now been reported that Angela Rippon will be absent from the show once again BBC star Angela Rippon will reportedly be absent from another series of a long-running show that they had fronted for more than a decade. They are said to be taking an extended break, but it has been teased that they could return in the future. Angela, 80, was an original co-host on Rip Off Britain when it launched in 2009. She's primarily presented the show, which provides advice to consumers on various topics, alongside Gloria Hunniford and Julia Somerville. ‌ Last year, it was announced that Angela would be stepping down from the role. Former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin replaced her in the presenting line-up, with her debut beside Gloria and Julia having aired earlier this year. ‌ It's now been reported that Angela will be absent once again from the upcoming eighteenth series. Louise, who joined the show in its sixteenth series and then returned for the seventeenth, is said to be taking her place in the line-up. The Daily Mail reports that Angela is on a break from Rip Off Britain, having previously decided to step back to pursue other projects. A source, however, told the outlet that the door is being "kept open" for her potential return, though. The source said that she is focusing on her Let's Dance campaign, which she launched after competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023. They said: "Angela won't be coming back for the next series as she extends her sabbatical to focus on her initiative to get people dancing across the country in a bid to improve the population's health and wellbeing." They added that Angela is still part of the Rip Off Britain "family" though. They said: "She is very much still part of the Rip Off Britain family and the door is being kept open by BBC bosses for a return later down the line - and Angela is adamant she will be returning when her schedule allows." The source continued: "The programme is filmed in blocks with a mix of studio and solo scenes on location which makes the shooting schedule more complex as producers juggle each star's personal schedules." They added that Louise is set to return in the vacancy left by Angela after being "a hit with viewers". ‌ Louise had shared her excitement about joining the long-running show when her involvement was announced in December last year. She said in a statement released at the time that she was "delighted" to be joining the BBC One show. She said: "I'm delighted to be joining the incredible team at Rip Off Britain. I've always admired the show for really making a difference, for shining a spotlight on the issues that matter most to people and empowering viewers with the knowledge to tackle everyday challenges and stand up for their rights. ‌ "From uncovering scams to giving audiences the advice they need to safeguard their money, we'll do our best to promote the stories that expose the latest consumer issues and help to make a real difference. It's going to be an exciting series!" At the time, commissioning editor for daytime, Rachel Platt, said about the new presenter: "Louise is a great addition to the Rip Off Britain team. She brings both the journalistic rigour needed to hold organisations to account and the warmth and empathy to get to the heart of real stories."
