Crews battling 200-acre wildfire in northeastern MN; cabins and homes evacuated
Fire crews and "multiple aircraft" are battling a wildfire that had grown to an estimated 200 acres in size on Sunday, a day on which a "red flag" warning was in place for most of Minnesota due to critical fire conditions.
Authorities in St. Louis County say they are at the scene of a blaze dubbed the "Camphouse Fire" – due to its proximity to the Green Lake Lutheran Ministries Camp near Brimson, Minnesota, which was detected early Sunday afternoon and subsequently spread.
"The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Superior National Forest firefighters are on site. The public is asked to avoid the area for their own safety and the safety of fire personnel. No drones allowed near the area," said the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said it first received a call about a "rapidly spreading" grass and wildfire near the 2200 block Hwy. 44 in Ault Township, which was traveling in a northeasterly direction through the woods.
"Several local fire departments were dispatched to the area and are actively fighting the fire," the sheriff's office said. "Initial information is a number of cabins, garages and other structures have been affected. There are no known injuries to any people at this time."
There were "several dozen" residents evacuated from their homes and cabins, with the Ault Town Hall building opened up to assist affected residents.
"The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time," the sheriff's office said.

Oregon Wildfire Destroys Homes and Forces Evacuations
A rapidly spreading wildfire on the northern edge of Oregon, called the Rowena Fire, destroyed 20 homes, shut down a section of a highway and caused the authorities to declare evacuation orders on Wednesday. The blaze was reported Wednesday afternoon next to the Columbia River, which flows on the border with the state of Washington. By 8 p.m., it had burned about 2,500 acres after tripling in size within roughly an hour, Oregon's Department of Emergency Management said. The Wasco County Sheriff's Office ordered residents in more than 730 homes in the surrounding area to evacuate and closed a section of Interstate 84, which connects Portland to Idaho. Firefighters were conducting controlled burns to slow the fire's spread into the night. Track Wildfires in the U.S. See where wildfires are currently burning throughout the continental United States. Gov. Tina Kotek of Oregon invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act on Wednesday afternoon, mobilizing the state fire marshal to fight the Rowena Fire. The blaze was the largest active fire in Oregon late Wednesday. Smaller wildfires were burning along the Columbia River west of the Rowena Fire, causing additional road closures on I-84 and Highway 30. An emergency shelter was set up at The Dalles Middle School, the sheriff's office said.
