NIA arrests man for 'actively promoting terror activities of ISIS'
Rizwan Ali alias Abu Salma alias Mola is the 11th wanted accused and a key conspirator in the ISIS Pune sleeper-module case, they said.

As part of an anti-India conspiracy of the ISIS, which is also known by various other names, Ali had played an active role in the reconnaissance of various locations that could be used as terrorist hideouts, a statement issued by the NIA said.
He was also involved in conducting firing classes and training in the fabrication of improvised explosive devices , according to NIA investigations in the case.
A reward of ₹3 lakh was announced for information leading to his capture.
A standing non-bailable warrant was also issued against Ali, who was allegedly actively involved in promoting the terrorist activities of the designated foreign terror outfit, the statement said.
Along with the 10 other accused already arrested and in judicial custody, Ali had conspired to commit a series of terror acts to destabilise the country and spread communal disharmony, the probe agency said.
Besides Ali, the other arrested sleeper-cell members have been identified as Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Abdul Kadir Pathan, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Shamil Nachan, Akif Nachan, Shahnawaz Alam, Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh and Talha Khan.
All the accused have been chargesheeted by the NIA under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Act, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and Indian Penal Code.
The NIA is continuing with its probe in the case as part of its efforts to scuttle the ISIS/IS conspiracy to establish Islamic rule in the country through violence and terror, by waging a war against the government of India, the statement said.

Senior Maoist leader gunned down in Jharkhand encounter
A joint team of Chaibasa Police and CoBRA 209 battalion gunned down a senior CPI (Maoist) leader during an encounter in the forests of Goilkera in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district Wednesday morning. Acting on the input, a joint operation was launched by Chaibasa Police and CoBRA 209 battalion. Around 6 am on Wednesday, the forces came under fire in the hilly and forested areas near Dugunia, Posaeta, and Tumbagada under Goilkera police station limits, officials said. The security personnel retaliated, forcing the Maoist squad to retreat into the dense jungle. During the subsequent search, the body of a male Maoist was recovered along with an SLR rifle, cartridges, and other daily-use items, officials said. According to the police, Arun had a long criminal history, including involvement in multiple murders, kidnappings, attacks on security forces, extortion, and offences under the Arms Act, and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act across Goilkera, Sonua, and Tonto police station areas. The recovered weapon and materials have been seized, and further action is being taken in line with the National Human Rights Commission's SOPs, police said, adding that the anti-Maoist operation in the region is still ongoing.

India-Russia-China consultation to intensify: Jaishankar to visit Moscow, Wang Yi to visit New Delhi

Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Russia on August 21 to hold discussion with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov as officials here are preparing to host Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi before that, sources here have confirmed. 'The Ministers will discuss key issues on our bilateral agenda, as well as key aspects of cooperation within international framework,' said the Russian Foreign Ministry announcing Mr Jaishankar's visit to Moscow. Mr Jaishankar's visit is part of the preparatory consultation for the next Russia-India annual summit for which President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India later this year. The meeting between Mr Jaishankar and Mr Lavrov comes days after National Security Adviser Ajit Doval visited Russia where he met his counterpart Sergey Shoigu and had a special audience with President Putin. Soon thereafter, President Putin and Prime Minister Modi had a telephonic conversation on Friday that Mr Modi described as 'detailed'. India is yet to officially announce the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi though sources indicated that it is being scheduled ahead of Mr Jaishankar's visit to Moscow. Sources said that the visit is understandably aimed at continuing high level discussion on the India-China border issue and Wang Yi will meet National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and others during his visit. Rahul to lead 16-day ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar as Congress intensifies fight against SIR
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is all set to start a 16-day-long 'Vote Adhikar Yatra' from Sasaram in Bihar on Sunday (August 17, 2025), as the principal Opposition party steps up its campaign against alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the State. On Wednesday (August 13, 2025), Mr. Gandhi put out a video on his X handle in which he is seen interacting with a group of voters, who have been declared dead in the SIR exercise, concluded recently.
