Crystal Palace will bookend their Premier League season with London derbies. The opening weekend sees them travel to Chelsea. They make a short trip to west London for a second successive campaign after last year's 2-1 defeat by Brentford in their opening fixture.
After eight games without a win to start the previous campaign, manager Oliver Glasner will hope for a better start despite the success of a highest-ever Premier League points total and winning the FA Cup. They face newly-promoted Sunderland at home in their fourth game, but do appear to have a relatively difficult run of fixtures to start with.

Their festive schedule includes trips to Burnley at the start of December, Leeds on December 20 and Newcastle as the first game of the new year but is otherwise not too taxing.
The fixture which everyone's eyes will turn to is those against arch rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. Those two games are currently scheduled to take place on November 8 at Selhurst Park and February 7 at Brighton's AMEX Stadium.
Palace will host Tottenham Hotspur in their first post-Christmas game, on December 27. They close out the season with a home fixture against Arsenal.
The exceptional pre-Club World Cup transfer window opened on June 1 and closed nine days later on June 10.
The summer window re-opened on June 16, while the cut-off date for the 2024-25 profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) reporting period coming at the end of the month on June 30. The window closes on Monday, September 1, at 11pm BST (6pm ET).
The winter transfer window opens on Thursday, January 1, and closes on Monday, February 2.
The new Premier League season gets underway on the weekend of August 15-17, a week after the Community Shield on August 8, when league champions Liverpool face FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.
The final match round will be played on Sunday, May 24, 2026, when all 10 matches will kick off simultaneously as usual.
Premier League clubs will enter the FA Cup at the third round, which begins on Saturday, January 10. The Carabao Cup will begin in mid-August, with Premier League teams not playing in Europe entering in the second round, which starts in the week commencing August 25, and the remaining seven clubs receiving a bye to the third round, which takes place in the weeks commencing September 15 and 22.
Crystal Palace qualified for the Europa League after beating Manchester City to win the FA Cup, marking the club's first major trophy and first time they have qualified for Europe. However, uncertainty remains over Palace's participation in the competition due to UEFA's rules on multi-club ownership. John Textor's Eagle Football vehicle owns a 43 per cent stake in Palace and the majority stake in Ligue 1 side Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League. Palace have presented their case to UEFA.
The Europa League final will take place at the Besiktas Park in Istanbul.

If someone had invested £5,000 in Lloyds shares a week ago, they would have made…

Last week was a great time to own Lloyds (LSE:LLOY) shares. The British banking giant saw its market cap surge more than 10% on Monday following the long-anticipated court ruling relating to the motor financing mis-selling scandal. And while a bit of profit-taking activity followed, the share price has still broken through and remained above the 80p threshold for the first time since 2015. As such, anyone who put in £5,000 right before this bump is now sitting comfortably on around £5,326 – not bad for a single week. But with such a massive cloud of uncertainty now lifted, could Lloyds shares be on track to climb even higher? What happened? As previously mentioned, the main catalyst behind this boost stems from the Supreme Court's favourable ruling. It concluded that car dealers do not owe fiduciary duties to customers and that the payment of commissions linked to car finance from banks like Lloyds isn't inherently unlawful. So, is Lloyds off the hook? Not quite. The Financial Conduct Authority is still proceeding with a targeted redress scheme to compensate car buyers who were impacted by discretionary commission arrangements. This is where car dealers would earn a higher commission by charging a higher interest rate. But with an estimated compensation of £950 per customer, the £1.2bn that Lloyds has already put aside is expected to cover the bulk of its exposure. Time to consider buying? With the threat of a massive legal penalty now eliminated, investor sentiment has improved significantly. And the analyst team at Goldman Sachs subsequently upgraded its Lloyds share price forecast to 99p. That's around 23% higher than current levels. And if accurate, would grow the previous £5,000 investment even more to £6,550. Of course, forecasts need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Goldman's projection is based on Lloyds delivering 8% annual core revenue growth between 2024 and 2027. It also depends on management successfully delivering on its target of 13.5% return on tangible equity. The favourable banking environment certainly makes this possible, especially now that the legal risk has reduced drastically. However, that doesn't guarantee Lloyds shares will be a winning investment. The bank's performance is ultimately tied to the state of the British economy. A sudden or even gradual slowdown could reduce lending demand as well as send borrower default rates in the wrong direction. Lower interest rates should help spark demand, particularly for mortgages. But if there's an insufficient volume of new loans, Lloyds could struggle to offset the drop in expected interest income. In such a scenario, Lloyds will likely fall short of Goldman's growth expectations. The bottom line One of the biggest risk factors surrounding Lloyds appears to now be in the rearview mirror. It comes as a major relief to shareholders who are now able to focus more on the underlying fundamentals rather than the legal landscape. And with the shares trading at a relatively modest price-to-earnings ratio, continued performance could help elevate the share price further and support the 4.1% dividend yield. Lloyds shares are unlikely to skyrocket, so growth investors are probably better served considering stocks elsewhere. But for more conservative income-seeking individuals, Lloyds shares could now be worth mulling over. Donnarumma golden opportunity must be grabbed by Man United

Manchester United are reportedly targeting a goalkeeper signing before the end of the window. Uncertainty There have been links to keepers all summer for the Red Devils but there has been uncertainty to what type of keeper the clubs wants to recruit. There were rumours at the start of the summer that United were keen on Aston Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez. Later, it was understood that United would pursue a cheaper keeper like Brazilian John Victor or a younger option like Senne Lammens at Royal Antwerp. Gianluigi Donnarumma links Interestingly, there have been growing rumours that the club is showing an interest in Champions League winning keeper Donnarumma. Paris Saint-Germain are keen to sell him as they have recently signed Lucas Chevalier and have made the Italian available for the attractive price of £26 million. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, United are currently focusing on sales and the Carlos Baleba deal and consequently, have not made a decision on the type of keeper that they want to bring in. Nonetheless, the choice should be clear. Experience There is no doubt Lammens is a very talented keeper and would probably, eventually, be a strong signing for United. Nonetheless, 23 is very young for a keeper and he has not played at a level above the Belgian league. With respect, the English Premier League is an entirely different kettle of fish and especially being the number one keeper for Man United. In contrast, Donnarumma has been in the spotlight since he was 16 for a giant of a club in AC Milan. Despite only being 26 years old, he has played 412 matches at club level for Milan and Paris Saint-Germain and incredibly already featured 74 times for Italy. Winning mentality The Italian giant has played in numerous Champions League matches including last season's final, keeping a clean sheet in PSG's 5-0 victory. He has also won 12 senior trophies for club and country. United's squad is not currently blessed with many serial winners outside of Casemiro, so any added experience of winning to a talented but young group is welcome. Respect of backline United's back five lacks experience. Patrick Dorgu is only 20 years old and Leny Yoro 19. It is also likely Ayden Heaven will get significant minutes this season and he is only 18. Amad who will likely play most of his football at right wing back this season is also only 23 and has not even played a full season in the more defensive role. Therefore, adding another young, inexperienced player to the mix is possibly not the best idea. Andre Onana has experience but his regular errors and erratic keeping style constantly puts pressure on the defence. Whilst Donnarumma does certainly have an error in him, his experience and sheer dominating presence would help guide United's youngsters through tough moments. Golden opportunity Another reason to pursue the Italian is that these sort of opportunities to secure top talent rarely come about. What's more, the circumstances of his situation at PSG mean he will be available for a price well below his market value. United are also not in European football next season, so the chance to add Donnarumma in this context is not only scarcely believable but would also be a real statement signing to the rest of Europe. Win now The Red Devils have undertaken an aggressive transfer strategy this summer. The captures of Premier League proven stars like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo speak to this. What's more, United went head-to-head with Newcastle United for Benjamin Sesko and won. They are also actively pursuing a complicated deal to sign the potentially game-changing midfielder Baleba. Clearly, the likes of Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, Christopher Vivell and Ruben Amorim want to win now with this transfer strategy and Donnarumma fits this profile a lot more than a Lammens type keeper. In addition, Ruben Amorim will not have years to win over United's fans and board. It is just a fact that he will need to deliver this season to keep his job and Donnarumma gives him this security few other keepers on the market would. Savinho: Tottenham and Man City in talks over summer deal

Tottenham have held talks with Manchester City over a deal for Savinho. Spurs are looking to bolster their attacking options before the summer transfer window closes. Tottenham have sold captain Heung-min Son to LAFC and lost James Maddison for an extended period of time after he injured his knee. Manchester City winger Savinho has emerged as a target and talks are understood to have taken place between the two clubs. City are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old, who made 48 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side last season. Savinho only joined City permanently last summer after starring for Spanish side Girona and helping them qualify for the Champions League. The winger broke into the Brazil squad during that time and has since gone on to make 13 appearances for them, scoring once. Savinho would add to Tottenham's depth in attack as he is able to play on either flank. Spurs have also been linked with a move for Como playmaker Nico Paz before the transfer window closes. Paz shone in Serie A last season after joining Como from Real Madrid for around £5million. The 20-year-old scored six goals and contributed nine assists as Como finished 10th in Serie A.
