Coronation Street fans ‘work out' what really happened to Lisa's ex Becky
Fans of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in Coronation Street are continuing to learn small pieces of information about her ex partner Becky. The local detective, who is in a relationship with Carla Connor (Alison King), was previously with her colleague Becky. The character, who we've never met, died on duty. Swain previously explained how Becky had been chasing an assailant, who jumped into a getaway car and mowed her down, with Becky dying at the scene. Lisa reflected on Becky's death once more recently, when dedicated police officer Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) was also killed on duty. Craig was attacked by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who had found out about Brody (Ryan Mulvey) not being his son shortly before. Craig attempted to gain control of the intense moment, but Mick hit him with a cricket bat, and he died in hospital. This week, Lisa told Carla more about Becky's life as a copper. She revealed that, before her death, Becky was being investigated by the anti-corruption unit, and Lisa was keen to keep that information from Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin). Lisa emotionally opened up about how she and Becky had fought over the allegations the day Becky was killed, and though the investigation was dropped, she didn't get the funeral she deserved. As a result of this development, a few fans of the ITV soap are starting to wonder if Becky might be alive. Taking to social media platform X, this user said: I can't cope with the Becky being alive theories but I also can't stop reading them!!!.' Passionate Swarla fan Sophie wrote a thread on the site, noting the possibility of Becky featuring in the Corrie and Emmerdale crossover episode at the start of next year. This fan said: Becky is 'NOT' alive, nope, nope, nope!!! Wait….Just don't go there, I'm begging you please! Not on my watch.' Amid these comments though, plenty of audience members are hoping the theory won't prove to be true. More Trending 'Becky Is Not Still Alive', this user wrote, while another simply said: 'Becky is not alive becky is not alive becky is not alive.' Swain attempted to talk to Betsy about her mum, but when Betsy insisted that she hadn't read the letter because she wasn't interested in knowing who her sperm donor was, Lisa decided to keep quiet about what the letter was really about. Unfortunately, Betsy wasn't being entirely honest either, as she later revealed to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) that she knew exactly what the letter was about. She confessed that she was convinced Becky's hit and run had been a coverup of some sort, and asked Lauren for her help in getting to the bottom of things. Huge EastEnders update for beloved couple in early BBC iPlayer streaming release
This article contains spoilers for tomorrow's episode of EastEnders, which airs Friday at 7.30pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer. The last time we saw Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), she'd just told him that their wedding was off. As they approached their big day – and third time getting wed – a series of troubling events cast a huge shadow over their happiness. One of their twins had vomited on Kat's shoes, their limousine had been stolen, and the replacement double-decker bus that Alfie had hired broke down. But, most notably, the couple had discovered that their teenage son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) had been watching porn on the family computer. Alfie had promised to have a word with the youngster, but his advice was laden with 80s pop references and failed to hit the nail on the head. When Kat discovered this, she believed her partner's priorities were all in the wrong place. In the most recent episode, which can be watched online now, the two had an explosive chat in The Queen Vic while their friends and family waited outside for an update. Kat told him that she didn't want a life of broken promises, and the marriage was off. Alfie then insisted that if there was no wedding, there would be no relationship – and ended things. She rushed off to see cousin Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), who offered a shoulder to cry on. In fact, their chat resulted in Jean slapping Kat (again)! The two then burst into laughter, and Kat realised she'd made a huge mistake. What she didn't realise was that Alfie had turned to a very unlikely neighbour for some words of wisdom. Metro is keeping the identity of this resident secret until the episode airs, so if you want to know, head over to iPlayer now. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? The two then rushed through The Square and into one another's arms, begging the other to marry them. More Trending But how would they manage it at such short notice? They'd missed the celebrant appointment, and didn't have a venue. Well, luckily, Alfie had the bus mended. And Big Mo (Laila Morse) had whipped out a vicar's costume to officiate the ceremony herself. Later, as everyone was enjoying the reception in The Vic, they were a picture of happiness as they sat on top of the double-decker and looked out towards the stars and moon. ITV responds to claims that Coronation Street and Emmerdale will merge
ITV has responded to the claims Coronation Street and Emmerdale are going to merge. Recently, rumours and comments started to circulate that both soaps could potentially work together. It was suggested that this could happen in Salford to cut production costs, but this will not be happening. The response from the channel comes after former Director of Television Peter Fincham suggested that Emmerdale could move from Yorkshire. He said that the soap would still be set there, but made in Manchester. 'You've got Coronation Street being made in Manchester, Emmerdale in Leeds', he said on the podcast Insiders: The TV Podcast with TV producer Jimmy Mulville. 'Could you imagine, rather like the daytime daytime consolidation, that ITV will decide to have them both made in the same place under one umbrella? Big savings. It could be made in Manchester and Salford, which is a bigger hub for ITV.' Responding to these claims, a spokesperson for ITV cleared everything up and told Metro: 'ITV has no plans to merge the productions of Coronation Street and Emmerdale. 'Both are uniquely set in Manchester and Leeds, and that production model will continue for the long term. It's pure speculation to say otherwise.' Coronation Street and Emmerdale will crossover next year, for one episode. It was announced earlier this year that both serial dramas will air in what has been dubbed as a 'power hour' from 8pm, Monday to Friday. Ultimately it means that both shows will lose a half an hour episode per week. More Trending This event is the first time that soap worlds have collided in an official capacity – though we have seen small crossovers for Children in Need and to highlight climate change in the past. Producers have confirmed that the episode will be marked in 'spectacular style', with production teams from Leeds and Trafford working together to achieve an 'ambitious' stunt' that will have 'everlasting consequences' for the communities of Weatherfield and Emmerdale. An 'ingenious' way of merging the two has been devised by those behind the scenes, although it's understood that the characters will then return to their respective environments after the ep.
