Hall of Fame former NBA point guard Steve Nash continues to stack media opportunities in retirement.
It's an interesting pivot for the 6-foot-3 former pro, who initially upon retiring became a part-time consultant for the Golden State Warriors during their run to multiple consecutive titles. He won championships with the franchise in 2017 and '18 in that capacity.

Nash then pivoted to a surprise head coaching role with the Brooklyn Nets. During his first debut season, 2020-21, he guided Brooklyn to a 48-24 overall record in a COVID-19-shortened 72-game season and finished sixth in Coach of the Year voting.

He departed the club after a 2-5 start to the 2022-23 season, finishing with a 94-67 win-loss regular season record and a 7-9 playoff record.
Now, the 51-year-old is making a full transition to broadcasting. Earlier this year, he joined fellow multi-time MVP LeBron James on the latter's pod "Mind The Game," following the departure of former co-host JJ Redick to serve as James' head coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.
It appears that Nash's stint on "Mind The Game" has only increased his appetite for media opportunities.
Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports that Nash is now slated to join his former Hall of Fame Dallas Mavericks teammate Dirk Nowitzki, former six-time All-Star forward Blake Griffin, and reporter Taylor Rooks to serve on Amazon's NBA coverage club for 2025-26 andd beyond.
Steve Nash recently began podcasting alongside LeBron James and will now expand his basketball broadcasting profile by joining Taylor Rooks, Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin on Amazon's NBA coverage team starting next season.

It's a big move for Nash, and it will be fascinating to see him grow his personality in the media spotlight as an analyst.
The eight-time All-Star was an elite shooter and passer in his day, and is a four-time member of the very exclusive 50/40/90 club, a stunning metric of shooting efficiency that represents players who have averaged 50 percent shooting or more from the field, 40 percent shooting or more from the 3-point line, and 90 percent or more from the charity stripe. No other player has made the cut more than twice. He also led the league in assists across five different seasons.

Across an 18-year pro career with the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers, Nash logged averages of 14.3 points on .490/.428/.904 shooting splits, 8.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 steals a night. He won back-to-back MVP awards in 2004-05 and 2005-06 during his second stint in Phoenix.

ESPN NBA booth facing another potential shakeup with Doris Burke's spot in limbo

The 2025 NBA Finals could be the first and last for ESPN's current top broadcasting trio. The future of the booth featuring longtime play-by-play voice Mike Breen and analysts Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson is up in the air, as Burke's spot 'is not guaranteed for next season' and Jefferson is on an expiring contract, The Athletic's Andrew Marchand reported Wednesday. Jefferson has drawn interest from Amazon, the report said, ahead of its first season airing NBA games starting in the fall, though ESPN 'intends' on bringing the former Nets star back. NBAE via Getty Images One factor ESPN will weigh is whether Burke would be better suited as part of a two-person or three-person broadcast crew, according to The Athletic. Burke rose to ESPN's No. 1 NBA team after the network dumped Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy following the 2023 NBA Finals. NBAE via Getty Images Doc Rivers, who had been fired by the 76ers, originally joined Burke and Breen, but he then left to become the Bucks' head coach in January 2024. JJ Redick replaced Rivers, but his tenure was also short-lived as he took the Lakers' head coaching job last June. Advertisement TNT just completed its final season broadcasting NBA games in the U.S., though the acclaimed 'Inside the NBA' will air on ESPN beginning next season through a licensing deal. Amazon has reached deals with Ian Eagle and Kevin Harlan to be its top play-by-players next season, while game analysts will include Stan Van Gundy, Dwyane Wade and Steve Nash. NBC will have Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle calling games, with Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford joining them as game analysts. Michael Jordan has also joined NBC as a special contributor.

Report: Nets may trade Cam Johnson and 19th pick to get Lottery pick

Report: Nets may trade Cam Johnson and 19th pick to get Lottery pick The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery hoping to get the first overall pick that would allow them to take Duke forward Cooper Flagg to begin their rebuild with a hot start. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, they came away from the Lottery with the eighth overall pick, but it looks like they are trying to take the Draft into their own hands. Per NetsDaily on Wednesday via X, the Nets "may want to move up from #19 to the lottery, offering CamJ and #19 to Raptors or Rockets for either Raps 9th or Rockets 10th plus a bad contract." Since the Lottery passed, there has been consistent reporting alluding to the possibility of Brooklyn trying to shake things up by either using their best pick to move up or by getting another Lottery pick. "That would give Nets two picks in top 10 (presupposing neither team would need picks for Giannis trade.)," NetsDaily's post continued. Nets forward Cam Johnson has been consistently brought up in trade rumors ever since last offseason when the Nets began their rebuild by trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in exchange for draft picks, but it seems like these reports about Brooklyn and the Draft are increasing in frequency. Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported in May that "there is a sentiment around the league the Nets could look to land a second lottery pick by consolidating and packaging some combination of Johnson, those picks at the end of the first round and/or future draft capital." This report followed one by NBA insider Jake Fischer in which the belief among rival teams is that the Nets are going to attempt to trade up in the Draft. When it comes to the term "bad contract," it will be interesting to see what that means for either the Toronto Raptors, who have the ninth overall pick, or the Houston Rockets, who have the 10th overall pick. Johnson, who is slated to make $20.5 million for the 2025-26 season, could potentially get Brooklyn someone like center Jakob Poeltl or forward RJ Barrett from the Raptors or players like forwards Jabari Smith Jr. or Dillon Brooks from the Rockets.

Former Lakers champion says he'd be 'perfect' as Knicks head coach

Former Lakers champion says he'd be 'perfect' as Knicks head coach When this season started, plenty of people felt the New York Knicks were legitimate championship contenders. That sentiment intensified after the Knicks upset the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics in stunning fashion in the second round of the playoffs. But they then got eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in six games in the Eastern Conference finals, and on Tuesday, they fired Tom Thibodeau after he had been their head coach for the past five seasons. This will therefore be a big offseason for them, as they could end up hiring the head coach who will guide them to their first world title since 1973. Metta Sandiford-Artest had a long and successful career as a two-way forward in the league, and he won it all with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2010. He took to X (formerly Twitter) and boldly declared that he's the "perfect choice" to be the Knicks' next head coach. Sandiford-Artest came to the Lakers in 2009, and at the time, he was considered the ultimate loose cannon across the league, especially after he was the central figure in the infamous "Malice at the Palace" incident in the fall of 2004. However, he helped them win the NBA championship in his first season with them, and he became a beloved figure, especially after undertaking a number of community-oriented initiatives, particularly in the field of mental health. He left the Lakers in 2013 and spent half a season with the Knicks. After a couple of brief stints overseas, he returned to the Lakers in 2015 for his final two NBA seasons. His only real coaching experience is as a player development coach with the G League's South Bay Lakers during the 2017-18 campaign. The Knicks will likely want to turn to someone who has plenty of experience to be their next head coach. But perhaps Artest, who grew up in the borough of Queens and played his college ball at St. John's University, could convince their next head coach to give him a job as an assistant.
