FBC--AP ALL-TIME ALL AMERICA-HISTORY – The glut of All-America teams has been around almost as long as college football, dating back to the late 1800s. Picking the best players from coast to coast is always controversial – just like ranking their teams – but it has become part of the bedrock of college athletics, a key point in the never-ending arguments over who's the best. By Eric Olson. 700 words, historical photos, video. Noon Eastern release Aug. 14.
FBC--AP ALL-TIME ALL AMERICA-THE IMPACT -- Ndamukong Suh, the only Associated Press college football player of the year to exclusively play defense, said it's an honor to be among the all-time greats whose legacy includes being an AP All-America honoree. 'The Associated Press saw something special in me that the Heisman didn't,' said Suh, who finished fourth in voting back in 2009. He and others have fond memories of being among the elite players to land on the AP list over the past 100 years. By Larry Lage 700 words, video, photos. Noon Eastern release Aug. 14. With quote box.

Chennai Grand Masters 2025: Arjun Erigaisi battles back to hold Vincent Keymer in tense draw
Arjun Erigaisi (AP/PTI) Chennai: Ahead of the Chennai Grand Masters, Vincent Keymer told TOI his immediate goal was to get himself in good shape in classical chess to qualify for the Candidates Tournament and promised to give his all. After six rounds here, the young German GM is still unvanquished and well on course towards his target. On Tuesday, the headline clash between the table topper Keymer and top seed Arjun Erigaisi concluded in a gripping stalemate, leaving Keymer (4.5 points) clinging to a one-point lead with three rounds to spare. Playing with the black pieces, Arjun chose the 'Slav defence' against Keymer's 'queen's pawn' opening. Keymer appeared well-prepared and established a promising advantage. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! As the game unfolded, much of Keymer's advantage gradually slipped away with Arjun deliberately complicating the positions. Known for thriving under pressure, Arjun defended with remarkable precision and even maintained composure in a scenario where a single misstep could have ended the game within ten moves. Despite Keymer holding early momentum, time trouble and minor inaccuracies allowed Arjun to claw back. Opting for a practical approach, Arjun played on Keymer's clock rather than hunting for perfect moves and ran away with the half-point. Poll Which style of play do you prefer in chess? Aggressive and offensive Defensive and strategic Balanced approach It depends on the situation With the lead still tight, Keymer will next face Awonder Liang (3.5), who has surged into joint-second spot alongside Arjun (3.5). At the same time, Awonder crossed the coveted 2700 rating mark after a commanding win over V Pranav with the black pieces. While the spotlight was on the Arjun-Keymer clash, on the adjacent board, close friends Anish Giri and Vidit Gujrathi waged a fierce battle before ultimately settling for a draw in their 109-move marathon. The Indian pushed hard with some aggressive play and came agonisingly close to victory after an error by Anish but fell short. The game ended peacefully when both players agreed to a rook trade that secured the draw. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

Mondo Duplantis creates pole vault world record for 13th time, clears 6.29m; watch video
Mondo has now soared 15 centimetres higher than Sergey Bubka, who Duplantis once described as 'mythological'. Armand Duplantis established new world record in pole vault at the 15th Gyulai Istvan Memorial Track and Field Hungarian Grand Prix. Image: AP Sweden's Mondo Duplantis broke his own pole vault world record with a clearance of 6.29 metres at the Hungarian Grand Prix meeting in Budapest on Tuesday, the 13th time he has set a new world mark as he continues to defy gravity. The double-Olympic champion maintained his tradition of improving on his previous record by one centimetre, with his second attempt at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial overhauling the mark he set in Stockholm in June. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Duplantis sets world record for 13th time Duplantis had looked a little off his best form, missing his first attempt at 6.11 and, after Greece's Emmanouil Karalis retired having failed twice at the same height, the Swede had the bar raised to make his usual world record attempt. Desiré Inglander shares her POV of her fiancé Mondo Duplantis breaking the pole vault world record today by clearing 6.29m 🐐 🇸🇪 — CITIUS MAG (@CitiusMag) August 12, 2025 The 25-year-old twice world champion was unsuccessful on his first try and while he rattled the bar slightly on his second effort, Duplantis looked up almost in disbelief to see he had again reached a new height in the discipline he dominates. 'I love Hungary very much. The track is very good, I love the crowd, I would like to return, thank you,' Duplantis said. Duplantis, who won his second world title in the same stadium in 2023, ran straight to the crowd to celebrate with his partner Desire Inglander and his family. On Monday, Duplantis missed most of the press conference ahead of the Budapest meeting, apologising when he turned up late, saying he had a lot of work to do on his time management. 'I think I'll have to make up for it tomorrow with a big leap,' Duplantis said. He duly stayed true to his word to the delight of the Budapest crowd, and has now soared 15 centimetres higher than Sergey Bubka, who Duplantis once described as 'mythological'. The American-born Duplantis first broke the world record in 2020 in Poland, with his leap of 6.17 surpassing by one centimetre the previous record set by Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie six years earlier. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Lavillenie had beaten Bubka's best jump of 6.14, which had stood for almost 20 years, but Duplantis has taken the sport to another level and on Saturday competes at the Silesia Diamond League, where he also broke the world record last year.

She added that she wanted her family and fans to hold her to high standards. 'I refuse to run away but to face everything that comes to me head on because everything on the other side is great but you've got to go through in order to get there.' Poll Should Christian Coleman have pressed charges against Sha'Carri Richardson? Yes, it was necessary. No, they should resolve it privately. Richardson withdrew from the 100m semi-finals at the US Championships but, as reigning world champion, she has secured a place in the event at next month's World Championships in Tokyo.
