Eternal-owned quick commerce platform Blinkit has started delivery of prescription medicines in select localities in Bengaluru . This will be in addition to the over-the-counter (OTC) medicine already available on the app.Blinkit is delivering antibiotics, eye and ear drops, antihistamines and diabetes monitoring devices and drugs under its newly launched drug delivery service. It is also offering dermatological, oral care and neuro care medicines. The delivery times vary between 10–30 minutes depending on the pincodes. There is no clarity on where Blinkit will source the medicines from or the underlying supply chain for the delivery.ET has emailed queries on the development to Blinkit, but is yet to get a response.Yourstory was the first to report the development.A Crisil report on the online pharmacy market estimated that epharmacies currently make up 3–5% of India's pharmaceutical retail market, compared to 22–25% in some developed countries. The analytics firm valued the overall retail pharmacy market in the neighbourhood of Rs 2.4 lakh crore, with the unorganised sector representing an 85% share.Doorstep drug delivery apps have grown in recent months. PhonePe's Pincode introduced 10-minute medicine deliveries in Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai in April. Eternal 's rival, Swiggy , reportedly partnered with Pharmeasy last year for quick delivery of medicines. Larger epharmacy platforms, including Tata 1mg and Netmeds, are also vying for rapid expansion.Meanwhile, private pharmacy chain Davaindia has started 60-minute deliveries in Pune. Zeelab Pharmacy, which raised $2.4 million from OTP Ventures earlier this year, has started 60-minute deliveries in Delhi-NCR.But this enthusiasm is beset by the prospect of tighter regulations. Currently, there are no specific rules that exclusively govern online pharmacies. To remedy this, the government is preparing a new law to replace the existing drug regulations, which are not clearly defined, ET reported on June 16.Blinkit is already running a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram, scaling the number of vehicles from 5 in January to 12. These ambulances have responded to 594 calls so far, half of which were critical emergencies, Eternal 's chief executive Deepinder Goyal said in a social media post on July 24. They were able to reach patients in 10 minutes 83% of the time, Goyal added. The company is now building an in-house paramedic training programme to expand its emergency care offerings. The online medicine pilot comes as Eternal leans more on Blinkit in the backdrop of sluggishness in the food delivery business. The quick commerce player became the leading vertical for its parent in the April-June quarter, surpassing the net order value of the more mature food delivery arm, Zomato, and driving the 70% jump in revenue.Blinkit is moving to an inventory-led model from September 1, which is likely to drive margin expansion , according to analysts.

BIG win for Anil Ambani as SC allows Reliance Infra to recover Rs 284830000000 for...

Anil Ambani (File) In a major boost for embattled industrialist Anil Ambani, the Supreme Court has allowed BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd — two subsidiaries of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure– to recover power dues worth Rs 28,483 crore. In a regulatory filing on Friday, Reliance Infra said that BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and BSES Rajdhani Power are owed Rs 28,483 crore in total dues, as on July 31, 2025. How much is Reliance Infra owed? The Anil Ambani-led company said its subsidiaries will 'recover Rs 28,483 crore of regulatory assets over a period of 4 years starting retrospectively from April 1, 2024', following a Supreme Court order that has set guidelines for the recovery of regulatory assets. Reliance Infrastructure, arguably the most profitable arm of Anil Ambani's Reliance Group, owns a 51 percent stake in BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and BSES Rajdhani Power, while the remaining 49 percent stake is owned by the Delhi government. The two power distribution companies (discoms) supply electricity to about 53 lakh household in the national capital. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court directed that the regulatory assets, including carrying costs to the tune of Rs 27,200.37 crore, to be paid within three years to Delhi's three private discoms. What are regulatory assets? Regulatory assets, which are essentially deferred revenue gaps to be recovered in future tariffs, have risen sharply for Delhi, reaching Rs 12,993.53 crore for BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd, Rs 8,419.14 crore for BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and Rs 5,787.70 crore for Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd as on March 31, 2024, totalling Rs 27,200.37 crore. Reliance Infra said its power discoms had filed a writ petition and civil appeals in 2014 before the Supreme Court, raising the issue of 'non-cost reflective tariff, unlawful creation of regulatory asset and non-liquidation of regulatory asset'. The petitions were were heard at length by the Supreme Court, and after hearing all parties, including the state governments and state electricity regulatory commissions., the apex court ordered that Electricity Regulatory Commissions (ERCs) must provide the roadmap for liquidation of existing regulatory assets, which will include provisions for dealing with carrying costs, the company said. ERCs must also undertake a strict and intensive audit of the circumstances in which the Discoms have continued without recovery of Regulatory Assets, the order said.

Maharashtra government aims to empower women by creating one crore "lakhpati didis," self-help group members earning over Rs 1 lakh annually. Remove Ads The Maharashtra government aims to create one crore " lakhpati didis " in the state as part of its women empowerment efforts, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday."Lakhpati didi" is a term coined by the Union government for a self-help group (SHG) member who earns an annual household income of Rs 1 lakh or more. This income is calculated for at least four agricultural seasons and/or business cycles, with an average monthly income exceeding Rs 10,000."Last year, we created 25 lakh lakhpati didis. This year, we want to add another 25 lakh. Our target is to make one crore lakhpati didis in Maharashtra. The Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is part of this push. Some people tried to create confusion by claiming the scheme will be stopped. We won't shut it. Instead, we will increase aid at the right time," the CM Ladki Bahin Yojana is the state government's flagship scheme under which women beneficiaries get Rs 1500 as monthly aid provided they fulfil some conditions like limits to annual household income etc."Some people have misused the scheme. For example, men uploaded photos of motorbikes on the portal to claim benefits. We are removing such names from the beneficiaries' list," Fadnavi has the highest number of SHGs in the country, and malls will be set up in 10 districts where products made by them will be sold, the CM informed."We have increased funding and revolving funds. Women have a much higher rate of loan repayment compared to men. In many schemes, men have not even repaid 50 per cent of the loans," he women's support for the Mahayuti retaining power in the November 2024 assembly polls, the CM said "brothers should resolve to empower their sisters so they can protect themselves and their families"."Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed the status of women through schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mudra (loans) and Lakhpati Didi. Sixty per cent of Mudra beneficiaries in the last 10 years have been women. Twenty-five crore families have been lifted out of poverty thanks to the prime minister's schemes. He has brought women into the mainstream economy," Fadnavis was a time when India's share in global trade was 35 per cent and in the world's GDP was 30 per cent, the CM pointed out."Our downfall began when we stopped respecting women and got divided into castes. For India to become a developed nation again, we must take women along," he said.
