‘Dirty money' ring linked to trafficking stands trial
Stacks of money passed through currency exchanges and into a quiet flat, one of several stops in a laundering trail now under the eye of the High Criminal Court. Four Asians stand accused of amassi n g m o r e t h a n BD175,000, money the prosecution says came from human trafficking and prostitution.

The court awarded BD9,000, with BD8,500 covering physical harm and BD500 for emotional distress. The claim for interest was turned down. Judges referred to Article 228 of the Civil Code, which bars interest on civil debts. But the defendant must still foot the full bill for legal and medical costs.

Hammer attack after break-up ends in 10-year prison verdict
A man who attacked his former partner with a hammer after she told him their relationship was over has been jailed for 10 years and will be deported once his sentence is complete. UAE Football Association Suspends 2 Players for 5 Matches
