After meeting them, she said, "Even today, the police failed to take action against the person who illegally took possession of Vaishnavi's son.
Such kind of inaction is not possible without political support to the accused."
Shiv Sena (UBT) member Sushma Andhare said, "The police were not at all proactive in the case. Only when the issue was highlighted by the opposition members and the media, did they get into action and arrested the suspects.
The police and the state women's commission failed in protecting the victim."
The state women's commission chief, Rupali Chakankar, refuted the allegation. She said, "The commission took suo motu cognisance of the case and told the police to take appropriate action. The police investigated the case and made the arrests."
Some members of the Maratha outfit had a heated argument with Chakankar when she visited the residence of Vaishnavi's parents.
Cabinet minister Girish Mahajan also met the family members of Vaishnavi.

Satyajit Patankar reminds Shambhuraj Desai of ‘betrayal' with Sena

Kolhapur: Satyajit Patankar, a recent defector from NCP (SP) to the BJP , has publicly accused Shiv Sena leader and minister Shambhuraj Desai of "betrayal". Patankar claims that the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will help him restore "cultured politics" to the Patan assembly segment, a thinly veiled jab at Desai, whose father, Balasaheb, was once challenged by Patankar's father, Vikramsinh, about four decades ago. A visibly angered Desai retorted that the rivalry began when Vikramsinh Patankar rebelled against his father. Desai's supporters further circulated messages highlighting that Patankar was welcomed by a junior BJP leader, unlike Desai's own welcome to Shiv Sena by its late supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. After returning to Patan, the newly-joined BJP leader Patankar was asked about the comparison. "How did you treat the party whose top leader welcomed you to join. How did you leave the party? After that, how did you reach Guwahati via Surat? What was the reason to betray a party that welcomed you?" he retorted. The statement by Patankar is bound to continue to fuel the feud between the two key Mahayuti allies — which are the BJP and Shiv Sena. Desai has said that he will meet chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and his party leader, deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, and speak his mind about letting Patankar join the BJP. Shambhuraj Desai was among the first batch of the MLAs who had joined the Eknath Shinde-led rebellion, which led to the downfall of the Mahavikas Aghadi govt in the year 2022. Shiv Sena (UBT) blocks traffic in Sambhajinagar in last leg of ‘Kya Hua Tera Wada' agitation

Chhatrapti Sambhajinagar: Shiv Sena (UBT) faction organised a chakka jam protest during the final phase of its 'Kya Hua Tera Wada' agitation on Thursday. The Sena (UBT) workers demanded comprehensive loan waivers for farmers and called for the BJP-led Mahayuti govt to fulfil all pre-election commitments. The campaign, which commenced on June 6, sought to hold the govt accountable for promises made by BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP before the elections. Ambadas Danve, the leader of the opposition in state legislative council, headed the demonstration at Baba Petrol Pump Chowk in the city. Demonstrators blocked major city access routes, including those from Ahilyanagar, the railway station, central bus stand, and Kranti Chowk, causing traffic disruptions for hours. The protest saw hundreds of Shiv Sainiks, office-bearers, and farmers participating. Police maintained strict security. Officers subsequently detained the protesters and transported them to Kranti Chowk police station. Following legal procedures, they were released with instructions to avoid future protests that might inconvenience the public. At the demonstration, Danve criticised Mahayuti for allegedly failing the farmers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo "Mahayuti govt has failed to deliver on its promises to farmers made before the assembly elections. Farmers are reeling under debt, and govt is turning a blind eye. We demand immediate implementation of the 10-point scheme announced during the campaign," he said. Shiv Sena deputy district chief Santosh Jejurkar came wearing traditional clothing similar to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, including a pink turban, dhoti, and kurta. He carried Phule's book 'Asud' about farmer exploitation, addressing agricultural challenges affecting both the Marathwada region and the entire state. Party officials said that additional protests would be organised across other districts if their demands remain unaddressed. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Maharashtra Minister bats for MNS-BJP alliance after Raj Thackeray meets Fadnavis

Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat on Thursday (June 12, 2025) urged Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to join the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, a statement that came shortly after Mr. Raj met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai. The meeting, held at a hotel earlier in the day, triggered fresh speculation about a possible tie-up between the BJP and the MNS ahead of the crucial civic elections. It also came amid ongoing buzz about a possible reconciliation between the estranged Thackeray cousins — Mr. Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, who heads the Shiv Sena (UBT). 'Politics is full of surprises and U-turns. Nothing is predictable. Such alliances are often necessary to strengthen and expand a party. We had extended an offer to Raj saheb earlier as well. Considering his influence, he is well-positioned to contest the civic polls. We would once again request him to join Mahayuti,' Mr. Shirsat said. The Mahayuti coalition comprises the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT), a fierce critic of the BJP, responded cautiously to the Fadnavis-Raj meeting. 'The meeting could have been for many reasons. Around 90 to 95% of workers from both parties believe there should be an alliance between us (Sena-UBT and MNS). But it's too early to draw conclusions,' said Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Kishori Pednekar.
