Bollywood actor-turned-politician Govinda has made shocking claims about the film industry, alleging that he was the target of a conspiracy aimed at removing him from the industry.
The actor, who was once one of the biggest stars of the 90s, spoke candidly about the challenges he faced, including death threats and defamation.
In a recent interview with Mukesh Khanna on his YouTube channel, Govinda reflected on his time away from the industry and revealed that he had turned down roles worth $11,467,000. "I would look in the mirror and slap myself for refusing that money," Govinda said.
Despite these lucrative offers, he defended his decision, stating that it was important to listen to one's heart and to stay true to oneself.
Govinda also recounted the personal struggles that led him to step away from acting. "I went through a defamation phase, and it was pre-planned. They wanted to remove me from the industry," he said.
He added that the conspiracies became more intense, with people attempting to harm him. "Many people were caught outside my house with guns, and different methods to eliminate me were being devised. After these conspiracies, my nature changed," he confessed.
The actor claimed that his entry into Bollywood as an outsider, without any formal education, may have contributed to the industry's hostile actions against him. "I understood that these were all educated people, and I, an uneducated outsider, had entered their space. So they started playing games with me," Govinda explained.
These challenges, according to Govinda, eventually led him to enter politics. While he did not name specific individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy, he emphasised that his decision to join politics was motivated by the way he was treated in the film industry.
Govinda, who last appeared in the film Rangeela Raja in 2019, has been largely absent from the big screen. Though he occasionally makes appearances on reality shows, he has not been part of any major films in the past few years. Recently, rumours of a divorce between Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, surfaced online, although their lawyer clarified that they have since reconciled.

Govinda's wife speaks up about divorce rumours

Listen to article Bollywood actor Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, has also spoken up divorce rumours after 37 years of marriage, according to her manager. The manager, categorically denied the split rumours and declaring them as false. Speculation about their separation had been circulating in Indian media, with reports linking Govinda to a 30-year-old Marathi actress. However, neither Govinda nor Sunita had publicly addressed the claims. Sunita's manager, Saadia Solkar, refuted the divorce rumours, calling them baseless. She declined to comment further on the matter. Earlier this week, Govinda had also addressed the growing speculation regarding his marriage to Sunita Ahuja, saying he remains focused on his work amid reports of a possible separation. Rumours surfaced this week claiming Sunita had sent a legal separation notice months ago. However, Indian media reports indicate no further legal action has been taken. When asked about the speculation, Govinda declined to comment directly, stating, "There are only business talks going on... I am in the process of starting my films." His manager, Shashi Sinha, acknowledged that tensions exist between the couple, attributing them to statements made by certain family members. 'There is nothing more to it, and we are trying to resolve it,' he said. Meanwhile, entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani reported that Govinda is eager to reconcile, but Sunita is hesitant. Govinda's nephew, Krushna Abhishek, denied the divorce rumours, insisting the couple would not part ways. Earlier, Sunita had revealed in an interview that she and Govinda live separately, citing his demanding work schedule. She later clarified that their bond remained strong, stating, "Nobody can separate us." Govinda and Sunita have been married since 1987 and have two children together.

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja reportedly headed for divorce after 37 years

Listen to article Bollywood veteran Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have reportedly parted ways after 37 years of marriage, according to media reports. While neither has officially commented on the rumors, sources suggest that the couple has been living separately for quite some time. Marital struggles and lifestyle differences Reports indicate that Govinda and Sunita's contrasting lifestyle choices have created a growing distance between them. According to Bollywood Now, Govinda's alleged relationship with a Marathi actress has been a significant factor in their separation. In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita Ahuja shed light on their current living situation, revealing that they primarily reside in separate homes. She explained that Govinda often stays at his bungalow, while she and their children live in a separate apartment. "We have two houses—our bungalow is just opposite our apartment. I live in the flat with my children, while Govinda stays at the bungalow because he gets late after meetings and gatherings. He loves talking and socializing, often sitting with 10 people and chatting for hours," she shared. Sunita's take on their relationship Reflecting on their marriage, Sunita playfully remarked on Govinda's lack of romantic gestures. "I've told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He doesn't take holidays. I love going out, eating street food, and enjoying simple pleasures, but he is always busy with work. I don't even recall a single instance when we went out to watch a movie together," she said. A marriage kept secret Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in March 1987 but kept their marriage a secret for over a year. They made their relationship public only after welcoming their daughter, Tina, in 1988. The couple later had a son, Yashvardhan, in 1997. While speculation about their separation continues, fans are eagerly awaiting an official statement from the couple regarding their relationship status.
