After Zuma's Morocco visit, Polisario to attend ANC Liberation Movements summit in South Africa
The summit will be held under the theme: «Defending the Gains of Liberation, Advancing Integrated Socio-Economic Development, Strengthening Solidarity for a Better Africa», as announced by the ANC in a statement.
Beissat, who previously served as the Polisario Front's representative in Pretoria, had engaged with various parties and professional organizations backing the Polisario in South Africa before stepping down. Last May, he held talks with President Ramaphosa during an ANC meeting.
This invitation forms part of the diplomatic forum organized by the South African embassy in Algiers, which aims to bolster support for the separatist movement's positions.
It's worth mentioning that the ANC has previously criticized Jacob Zuma's backing of Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara.
In addition to Mohamed Yeslem Beissat's participation, the Liberation Movements Summit will also feature Palestinian Jebril Rajoub, another proponent of Algeria's and the Polisario's stance on the Sahara issue.

South Africa Objects to Former President Zuma's Morocco Visit Over Flag Display
Rabat — South Africa's government expressed today strong objections to former President Jacob Zuma's recent visit to Morocco. The government mainly criticized the use of national symbols during Zuma's meeting with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita. The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) issued a statement condemning the circumstances surrounding Zuma's mid-July visit to Rabat. The DIRCO 'has registered its strong objection and concern regarding circumstances around the recent visit of an eminent South African leader, former South African President Mr Jacob Zuma, who is Leader of Umkhonto We Sizwe Party, visited the Kingdom of Morocco and held a meeting in Rabat on 15 July 2025, with His Excellency Mr Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates,' the ministry's statement said. Flag display sparks protest While acknowledging Morocco's sovereign right to invite and host individuals or groups, South Africa's government strongly protested the display of the South African flag during Zuma's meeting with Morocco's foreign minister. 'The use of the South African National Flag in a meeting with a member of a political party in opposition, which is a non-state actor, constitutes an abuse of existing protocol and decorum, and undermines official bilateral relations between the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Morocco,' the statement read. DIRCO expressed outrage over the fact that Rabat displayed South African national symbols, which they claimed naturally imply official state approval and elevate public perception of the event to the level of state-to-state engagement. However, according to the statement, the participants did not represent official South African positions or state commitments, making such characterization contrary to established diplomatic practices. 'This portrayal cannot be recognised as an official bilateral meeting, and the implications drawn from it are firmly rejected,' the ministry noted, urging Morocco's government to avoid such actions in the future. What's truly behind this outrage? South Africa's government's discontent with the visit is most probably linked to Zuma's newly found position over Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara and his endorsement of the country's Autonomy Plan. Following his July 15 meeting with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat, Zuma announced that his MK party supports Morocco's autonomy proposal for Western Sahara. The former president said his party believes the Moroccan proposal 'will allow meaningful local governance by the populations of the Sahara region, while guaranteeing Morocco its sovereignty over the Sahara.' Zuma added that his party 'recognizes the historical and legal context that strengthens Morocco's claim to the Sahara' and believes Morocco's efforts to recover its full territorial integrity align with the MK party's commitment to preserving African states' sovereignty and unity. Describing the autonomy plan as offering 'a balanced path that promotes stability, peace, and development in the region,' Zuma called on the international community to support Morocco's offer as the most viable path to ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity for the Sahara. Palestinian Minister: Morocco's Humanitarian Aid Will Have Tangible, Positive Impact on Gaza
Palestinian Minister in charge of official information, Ahmed Assaf, has celebrated the latest humanitarian aid package Morocco sent to Gaza as part of a royal order. Last week, King Mohammed VI instructed 180 tons of humanitarian aid to be sent to Gaza to assist civilians amid a starvation war launched by Israeli Occupation Forces amid the ongoing genocide in the Palestinian enclave. The aid pack consists of essential food supplies, milk, and products specifically intended for children. It also includes medicines and surgical equipment for the most vulnerable populations. Blankets, suitable tents, and other equipment are also part of the humanitarian aid pack. Many Palestinian officials have commended Morocco's humanitarian initiative, including Assaf, who said that the aid will provide significant, urgent assistance to the people of Gaza. Gaza residents have been suffering from blockade and famine, he pointed out, adding that this royal gesture is part of a series of initiatives that Morocco has been taking under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. He also reaffirmed that Morocco has always defended the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people at all levels, concluding that the initiative will contribute to strengthening and developing the historical ties between Morocco and Palestine. Forced starvation has claimed the lives of many Palestinians in recent weeks, particularly children and newborns. Over 190 Palestinians have to date died due to hunger. The number includes 96 children, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. In the last 24 hours, Gaza hospitals recorded five new deaths due to famine and malnutrition. This adds to the dilemma Palestinians are facing due to the ongoing genocide. In the past 24 hours, the IOF killed at least 138 people and wounded 771 others. The death toll of the genocidal war has reached over 151,442 since Israel launched its merciless Gaza campaign in October 2023. Tags: Gaza starvationMohammed VI

Gaza Starvation, Genocide: Death Toll on the Rise
Rabat — The Israeli genocidal machine is still claiming the lives of innocent civilians in Gaza, amid acute starvation in the enclave. In the past 24 hours, at least 135 Palestinians, including 87 people seeking aid, were killed in Israeli Occupation Forces across Gaza. Meanwhile, Medical sources reported the deaths of 5 Gazans in the past 24 hours due to Israeli-induced starvation, bringing the death toll from famine-related issues to 139, including 96 children. The catastrophic situation has been alarming since Israel applied a blockade on food and aid entry via the border crossings since March 2, leading to a staggering starvation intertwined with the genocidal war. International human rights organizations have issued alarming warnings about the situation, calling Israel's approach a weaponization of food and aid for genocidal purposes. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has previously warned that famine among children under five doubled between March and June due to the ongoing blockade. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have soared, as nearly one in five children under five suffers from acute malnutrition. Plans for a total seizure of Gaza Israeli media sources report that Prime Minister Netanyahu's war cabinet is set to approve full occupation of Gaza, including areas where Hamas captives remain. Palestinian officials have strongly condemned the plan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to 'intervene urgently to prevent their implementation, whether they are a form of pressure, trial balloons to gauge international reactions, or genuinely serious.' Israel faces growing international isolation As the genocide and starvation war unfold in Gaza, major international powers are calling on Netanyahu's government to halt its hostilities against civilians and allow for food and aid entry to Gaza. Not only that, but a growing chorus of countries is considering endorsing Palestine's statehood during the upcoming 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, to be held in New York in September. The catastrophic, inhumane situation in Gaza has prompted major international powers to consider recognizing the statehood of Palestine, including France, the UK, and Canada. The decision follows a humanitarian perspective and through repeated references to a possible annexation of Palestinian territories, which political analysts describe as extremely worrying developments in the enclave.
