Flight attendant claims airlines are too scared to address embarrassing issue
A former flight attendant claims that airlines are afraid of teaching passengers how to use toilets properly, for fear of offending them.
Marcus Daniels spent five years working the aisles at 30,000 feet. He loved his job, but not all aspects of it. Marcus says he was disgusted on multiple occasions by messes left behind by passengers. He believes many of these incidents occurred because some flyers were unfamiliar with these types of toilets, and he noticed a trend emerging on certain routes.
'On those flights, passengers will defecate on the floor, and you just do your best to smile and not say anything. You get used to it after a while and can start mentally preparing yourself for those flights,' Mr Daniels said.
The flight attendant added that the language barrier made it difficult to address this delicate topic with passengers.

'It would be great if there were visual guides showing how to use the toilet properly, rather than just guides for flushing,' he added, according to the Daily Mail.
Daniels recalled one occasion when he had to lock off the toilet for the remainder of a flight after a passenger repeatedly urinated on the floor. 'Airlines are very particular about how they communicate with customers because they don't want to offend anyone,' he said.
In other plane-toilet news, a flight attendant recently revealed that birdsong is now being played in lavatories to mask embarrassing 'toilet sounds.' KLM attendant Esther Sturrus posted a video on TikTok demonstrating this new feature inside the bathroom of a brand-new Airbus A321neo.
Sturrus, 24, who has worked for the Dutch airline since 2020, laughed as the sound of birds chirping filled the space. Since summer 2024, KLM has gradually replaced its Boeing 737 fleet with A321neos, according to its website.
'The birdsong definitely catches people by surprise the first time. You're expecting the usual hum of the engines or total silence, and instead you're suddenly surrounded by chirping birds. The idea behind it is to make the onboard experience a little more soothing and enjoyable, even in the smallest and most unexpected places,' said Sturrus, who is from Rotterdam.
'The birdsong gives a sort of spa-like vibe. Let's be honest, it also nicely covers the classic toilet sounds, so it might just be functional too. I found it unusual and amusing and just had to capture the moment. It's little touches like these that show how much thought can go into even the tiniest details of a flight experience.'

I'm trolled for having Christmas done in July with the food shop & gifts wrapped – but us single mums must be organised
Plus, scroll down for more on why supermarkets start selling Christmas stock so early FEELING FESTIVE I'm trolled for having Christmas done in July with the food shop & gifts wrapped – but us single mums must be organised Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DESPITE December 25th being five months away, a single mother has revealed that she has already bought and wrapped her children's gifts. Not only this, but Char Chandler has also done her food shopping and stocked up on drinks and snacks for the festive season. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A single mother has revealed that Christmas may be five months away, but that hasn't stopped her getting prepared Credit: / TikTok 2 Char Chandler has not only bought and wrapped gifts, but she's even done her food shopping too Credit: / TikTok But this mum-of-three, who 'loves Christmas' and can't get enough of shopping, has been trolled for being so prepared. Posting on social media, the brunette beauty proudly showed off her epic 'Christmas cupboard,' which despite it being only July, is already full with wrapped gifts and sweet treats. The short clip left many totally stunned, so much so that shortly after, Char uploaded a follow-up video in response to a rude remark from a troll. The comment read: 'F**k. Right. Off. It's. Only. F*****g. July' and to this, Char clapped back and said: 'I really don't get it, why can't you just be happy for someone, show it love, or scroll past? 'I'm happy, I'm organised and I don't have that Christmas rush and the hassle.' Char then urged people to 'be nice' and confirmed that "you never know what people are going through.' Not only has she purchased a variety of gifts for her little darlings, but she's also stocked up on Pringles, Mini Cheddars, Twiglets, nuts, tins of biscuits and a variety of crackers. As well as this, she's also purchased three bottles of fizzy drinks and dessert sauces, as well as popcorn, pretzels and marshmallows. Char later confirmed: 'My kids are 14, 13 and 6 - my eldest two know [the gifts] are there. It's just the youngest we hide them from and he doesn't know the cupboard exists.' Not only this, but Char confirmed that she likes to be organised and 'spread the cost.' I feel like a failure for only getting my 9-year-old cheap bits off TikTok for Christmas, but trolls slam my 'sob story' As well as having Christmas gifts to buy, she also has the cost of the summer holidays, her eldest son's birthday and two holidays coming up. So when asked 'why so early?', Char set the record straight and explained: 'Because I am a single parent and I want the best for my children so I spread the cost to make it the best I can.' I will stock up more as the months go on Char Chandler The bargain hunter later revealed that she got her wrapping paper from Amazon and acknowledged that she wraps each of her children's presents in different wrapping paper, rather than using gift tags. And for those wondering if Char's food shopping would go out of date before the special day, the savvy mum clarified that she checked the dates on her items and apart from a bottle of Coca-Cola, which goes out of date on 31st December 2025, everything else expires 2026 and onwards. Despite having a hefty stash already, the content creator later shared: 'I will stock up more as the months go on.' Why do shops start selling Christmas stock so early? Charlotte Harrington, the manager at Summerhill's garden centre in Basildon, Essex, explained: 'For many, many years now, we've opened our Christmas department on the August bank holiday. "The stock comes in early and we gradually start putting it out on the shop floor. This is just a small fraction of what we have. 'But our Christmas displays are so spectacular it takes time to get everything set up, so we have to start early. 'It may seem a little odd putting them out now — especially with the hot weather. 'But we have to plan so far in advance.' Social media users react The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 239,900 views. Not only this, but it's also amassed 10,800 likes, 2,298 comments and 900 shares. But social media users were left totally divided by Char's organisation - whilst some thought it was 'a great idea', others weren't as complimentary. One person said: 'Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! This is organisation at its finest.' By the time Christmas comes, they might not like it. That'll be my worry TikTok user Another added: 'That's why there's so many kids go without because parents don't do this! Why not buy all year so you know your children have the best Christmas!!' A third commented: 'That's actually a great idea. Don't have to spend a mint all at once and save money by getting stuff each week.' Meanwhile, someone else beamed: 'You are an amazing mum and very organised. I hope you have a magical Christmas 2025.' But at the same time, one user questioned: 'How do you know what to get them? By the time Christmas comes, they might not like it. That'll be my worry.' And another wrote: 'I would just forget what I had brought.' Justin Timberlake slammed for doing 'bare minimum' at his concerts
Justin Timberlake has left some fans demanding a 'refund' after he appeared to have stopped signing at his live shows. The American singer rose to fame as part of The All New Mickey Mouse Club in the 1990s, going on to join the hugely successful boyband NSYNC, who sold over 70 million units worldwide. After the band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2002, Justin pursued a solo career, releasing the chart-topping albums Justified and FutureSex/LoveSounds, which included hits like Cry Me a River, Rock Your Body and SexyBack. He was dubbed the 'Prince of Pop', has 10 Grammy Awards, and is now one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Last year Justin, 44, embarked on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, his first in five years. Although it officially ended in February this year, it was quickly followed by an extension that has included festivals and one-off concerts titled 'JT Live 2025'. But just a few days before his last scheduled show in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 30, Justin has drawn the ire of some concertgoers. Last week Justin played at the Electric Castle festival in Romania, but soon after he was called out for signing very little of his track Can't Stop the Feeling live. In the clip, posted on TikTok, he was seen putting the hood of his jacket on as rain started pouring down as he sung the first few lines of the song. He then made hand gestures and walked across the stage to amp them up but only went on to sing a few parts of the song and heavily relied on the crowd to pick up the slack. Just before the clip ended, he was then seen walking towards his band and telling the audience to 'sing, c',mon'. 'When you pay for a concert but get a mute singer. Due took a day off on stage…,' the fan captioned their post. Many people weighed in, including others who were there and joked about the singer 'making them do all the work'. 'When you pay for a concert but get a mute singer,' one quipped. 'This is not even bare minimum,' someone else commented. 'I want a refund, and I didn't even go,' another added. 'That ticket would be a credit card dispute SO FAST,' one person also wrote. Soon after many other people started sharing videos taken at other concerts in which Justin barely sang the song too. More Trending Addressing the singer, one frustrated fan wrote on TikTok: 'Dude they're not paying to have a karaoke session with you.' Justin is next scheduled to perform in Georgia tonight, followed by shows in Azerbaijan and Turkey later this week. Away from the studio and stage, Justin has also appeared in a string of movies too, including Love Guru, The Social Network, Bad Teacher, Friends with Benefits and Palmer. Ozzy Osbourne's heartbreaking final remark to Jack after farewell performance
Jack Osbourne has revealed the final thing his dad Ozzy said to him following his farewell performance just days before the legendary rocker died aged 76 Ozzy Osbourne's son, Jack, has revealed the comment he made after his last ever performance, and it was filled with his iconic wit. The Black Sabbath icon, 76, joined his bandmates for one final time earlier this month in his hometown of Birmingham. He received an epic send-off surrounded by his beloved family and fellow rock icons, and he hung up his Prince of Darkness crown once and for all. Just over two weeks later, Ozzy sadly died with a statement confirming the news. Ozzy had been surrounded by the love and support of his nearest and dearest in his final weeks, with son Jack sharing a touching insight. He told his famous father about the rave reviews he had received for his Back to the Beginning concert at Villa Park. Despite all the praise and attention, Ozzy had a very humorous response that showed he still had his blunt ways. Ozzy told his son: "Lot of f***ing good that does me. I'm retired now!" Revealing how he was doing after the show in a now poignant interview, Jack told the Daily Mail:"Dad's great and his mood's really high. He's in a really good spot right now." Speaking of his health issues, Ozzy's son added: "Listen, everyone gets old, everyone slows down as you age - it's part of the journey. I just try and support him as much as I can. We all do." Jack admits that the whole Osbourne family had become emotional watching Ozzu "doing his job" at Villa Park, with the family tearing up. He said that people had been reaching out to the family, showing all kinds of love for the legend. It was announced on Tuesday that after years of battling ill health, Ozzy had died at the age of 76. A statement from the Osbourne family read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." It's claimed that Ozzy's health had rapidly deteriorated on Tuesday morning, with an air ambulance being sent to his home in Buckinghamshire, where paramedics spent hours attempting to save him. A local resident said they became alarmed after noticing the helicopter in the quiet village and saw it landing close to Ozzy and Sharon's mansion. They told the MailOnline: "All of us were talking about it and wondering what had happened. We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health. When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears." A spokesperson for Thames Valley Air Ambulance said: "We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday." Meanwhile, his sisters received the news via phone call hours before the Osbourne family issued their statement. Speaking from her sister Gillian's house, Ozzy's sister, Jean, told the Mirror that the last time she saw her brother, she found it "upsetting." She said: "We saw him in Birmingham the other week when he and the rest of the band were given the freedom of the city. "It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes. To us, he was our brother, not a celebrity, so it's crazy to see the outpouring of love since his death was announced. We just can't believe he is gone, and we won't be getting another phone call or text from him. Every week without fail, he would get in touch, either by phone or text, to ask how we were all doing and what was going on."
