Hari Hara Veera Mallu is the Divine Fusion of Shiva and Vishnu: Jyothi Krisna on His Grand Saga of Sanatana Dharma

The Wire09-07-2025
Dispelling long-standing rumours that Hari Hara Veera Mallu is based on a well-known folk legend, the makers have now unveiled a powerful truth — the film is not a retelling of an old tale, but a rich fictional saga deeply rooted in Sanatana Dharma, crafted for a new era of mythic storytelling.
Director Jyothi Krisna, who took charge of the project midway, has reimagined the narrative entirely, injecting it with spiritual symbolism and cinematic might. 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu is not just a historical warrior — he is a divine manifestation, a fictional character inspired by the combined energies of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu,' shares Jyothi Krisna. 'We didn't just want to tell a story; we wanted to create a legacy. Veera Mallu is that bridge between Shaivism and Vaishnavism, like Ayyappa Swamy.' The title itself reveals the spiritual essence — Hari symbolizing Vishnu and Hara symbolizing Shiva. This duality is seamlessly translated on-screen through potent imagery: the eagle, symbolizing Garuda (Vishnu's vahana), soars as a silent sentinel, while the protagonist's Damarukam (Lord Shiva's drum) beats the rhythm of righteousness. Sources close to the film suggest the protagonist is a force born from both deities, destined to rise when Dharma is threatened.
Veteran producer AM Rathnam, known for his grand cinematic vision, has backed the film with uncompromising scale and ambition. Without pre-selling the rights (barring overseas and Hindi), Rathnam made a calculated decision to let the visuals speak first — and it worked.
The trailer release became an instant blockbuster online, drawing unprecedented attention and buzz. Distributors are now in a race, offering record-breaking sums to acquire rights. Rathnam's belief in the film's visual and spiritual power has paid off — and how.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu is not just a film — it's a visual hymn to the eternal spirit of Dharma, a divine epic where mythology meets magnificence.
Witness the rise of the divine protector. Hari Hara Veera Mallu — where cinema meets Sanatana.

War 2 Trailer: Hrithik Roshan And Jr NTR Lock Horns In The Name Of "India First". Bonus

The much-awaited trailer of War 2 released on Friday (July 25). Add some philosophical musings over self, identity, war, and service to a spectacular show of Hrithik vs Jr NTR in the stunning backdrop of foreign locations, and the trailer of War 2 will show how it's different from the Yash Raj Films' formula of a spy film. Breaking Down The Trailer Unlike Yash Raj Films' other spy movies, the trailer of War 2 opens on a contemplative note, where the two nameless warriors, played by, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, introduce themselves through their starkly different ideas of a warrior. The only thread of commonality is they are fighting the war in the name of "India first." Hrithik Roshan AKA Kabir says he wants to become a shadow, dissolving his familial ties, love and identity. Jr NTR takes an oath that he will fight a battle that no one has ever fought. He will become a weapon of destruction. Either he will get destroyed or he will kill - there's no second way about it for Jr NTR. "Death before dishonour," says Hrithik Roshan. To this, Jr NTR replies, "Service before self." Kiara Advani enters the scene with some scene-stealing action stunts along with some romantic scenes with Hrithik Roshan. The stage is set. Kabir said at the end of War (2019), "The war is still on." As the battle intensifies, Colonel Sunil Luthra (played by Ashutosh Rana) reminds Kabir that they (he and Jr NTR) are warriors. But will the hero fall to save a warrior? The trailer ends with the famous saying about Karma from the Bhagavad Gita. Background The teaser of the film released in May. Sharing the teaser, Jr NTR wrote, "Double the fire. Double the fury. Pick your side. #War2Teaser out NOW. #War2 only in theatres from 14th August. Releasing in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. #YRFSpyUniverse." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Yash Raj Films (@yrf) Hrihik Roshan shared an adorable post from the last day of the shoot on Instagram. An excerpt from his long note read, "Felt a mixed bag of emotions as the cameras stopped rolling for #War2. 149 days of relentless chase, action, dance, blood, sweat, injuries... and it was all WORTH IT!" View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hrithik Roshan (@hrithikroshan) The film will release in theatres on the eve of Independence Day, August 14. This is the first time Hrithik Roshan and JR NTR collaborated for a Hindi film. The film has been directed by Ayan Mukerji, mostly known for his romantic films.

Vishwambhara: Chiranjeevi and Mouni Roy team up for a special dance number in final schedule of film

Vishwambhara is Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's most-awaited film that has been in the making for the last two years. Earlier slated to release during the Sankranthi season of 2025, the film was postponed due to poor VFX. A teaser was unveiled on the occasion of Chiranjeevi's birthday, but sadly, the promo was trolled for its tacky VFX, following which, the megastar asked the makers to redo those portions entirely. Vishwambhara to be wrapped up with special number featuring Chiranjeevi and Mouni Roy Meanwhile, the last leg of the film's shoot has kick-started in Hyderabad, with a special song featuring Hindi actress Mouni Roy being canned at a specially-erected set. This song will also feature Chiranjeevi in a proper dance number after a very long time. As the film has been delayed, Vishwambhara has lost some of its buzz, and to make things interesting, the makers have added this special number. Vassistha, of Bimbisara fame, is directing this film, and it is only his second movie in his career. Trisha Krishnan is playing the female lead in this film, and this is also the second time she is teaming up with Chiranjeevi after Stalin. MM Keeravani, the Oscar award winner, is composing music for this film, which is a fantasy drama being made on a massive budget. Vishwambhara aiming at a Dussehra 2025 release With the completion of this special song, the shoot will be wrapped up. The news in film circles is that the makers are planning a Dussehra release in October 2025. Vishwambhara is high on fantasy and is expected to be on the lines of Chiranjeevi's iconic hit, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, featuring Sridevi as the female lead. On the other hand, Chiranjeevi has also started shooting for yet another film of his that is being directed by Anil Ravipudi, who is high on the success of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. The yet-untitled film has Nayanthara as the female lead. But all eyes are on Vishwambhara as it has finally reached completion, and the release date will be announced soon.

Film on Mother Teresa by Macedonian director to premiere at Venice Film festival

Kolkata, Jul 25 (PTI) Acclaimed Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska's film 'Mother', inspired by the life of Mother Teresa and partially shot in the city, will be premiered at the upcoming 82nd International Venice Film Festival. 'Mother', the seventh feature film by the Brussels-based, Macedonian filmmaker has Swedish actress Noomi Rapace playing the role of Mother Teresa, who later became Saint Teresa in a canonisation ceremony years after her death. The film festival will be held between August 27 and September 6. The film focuses on a brief period of her life, a few weeks after the end of World War II, before the nun founded her own congregation, the Missionaries of Charity and captures the period of 1948 in Kolkata.. A substantial part of the film was shot in the city in 2024 across the iconic Howrah bridge and locations like Kumartuli, Kalighat, Entally, Loreto Convent, where Mother had taught once, Prateek Bagi, one of the co-producers of the film, said on Friday. Having an international collaboration, the film is produced by several stakeholders – Sebastien Delloye for Entre Chien et Loup (Belgium), Sisters and Brother Mitevski (Macedonia), Vuk Mitevski and Labina Mitevska, Rainy Days in Sweden, Frau film in Denmark and Raging Film in India. Bagi recalled that the film crew was happy with the shooting experience in Kolkata, and the administration and local federation of cine technicians extended all help. 'The director thanked the office of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the administration, among others, for their help and promised to come back to the city for future projects," he said. Apart from Bagi, SRFTI alumnus and co-founder of Raging Films, Shaunak Sur, was associated with the film and its shoots in the city. The film 'Mother' by director Mitevska will have the honour of opening the Orizzonti section on the first competition day of this year's Venice Film Festival, the festival directorate said. 'The Orizzonti selection at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, which will open this year with the Macedonian film 'Mother', is intended for films that introduce new aesthetic and expressive directions in contemporary cinematography. Works with an innovative approach in storytelling, visual style and film language are particularly valued," it said. The film is in the competitive section.. This is the third time that Teona Strugar Mitevska has presented her film in the official programme of the Venice Film Festival. The producers of Mother said the director was enamoured by the amazing story of Mother Teresa's life. The director was born in Skopje in North Macedonia like her. She had initially wanted to make a documentary 'Theresa and Me', a project funded by the Macedonian Radio and Television and came to the city in 2010-11 for the first time. But as she came across more amazing facts of Mother's life during research, the script for a full-length feature film was developed, and she again came with the cast and crew in 2024, the producers said. The Orizzonti section, dedicated to showcasing innovative and emerging trends in global cinema, presents a lineup featuring both established stars and rising directorial talent, the festival directorate said.
