New Telford Station Quarter hotel to create 38 jobs
A six-storey, 142-bedroom hotel in the centre of Telford will create 38 local jobs, the local authority has said.Telford and Wrekin Council said the new Hampton by Hilton hotel will be part of its Station Quarter development and will open in 2027.The wider development already includes a digital skills teaching centre and there are plans for a new sixth-form centre and 189 homes.Construction of the hotel has already started.
The hotel will stand at the corner of Ironmaster's Way and Lawn Central.As well as the rooms, it will include a bar and a restaurant.It said it chose Hilton to operate the hotel because the company would "complement Telford's existing hotel and tourism offer".Council leader, Lee Carter, said he expected the hotel to attract visitors and increase footfall in the area, which is close to the town's shopping centre.

Man United step up pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo
Manchester United has made a second bid of £60m for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, after their initial offer of £45m plus £10m in add-ons was rejected. Bryan Mbeumo has indicated his desire to join Manchester United, despite interest from other clubs including Newcastle and Tottenham. Brentford is seeking a transfer fee for Mbeumo similar to the £62.5m United paid for Matheus Cunha, noting Mbeumo's 20 Premier League goals last season. United aims to strengthen its attack, having scored only 44 league goals last season, and may fund the transfer by selling players such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho. Tottenham, now managed by Mbeumo's former coach Thomas Frank and having secured Champions League football, is also a strong contender for the Cameroon international.

Warning of overnight delays on A9 south of Inverness
Temporary traffic lights and a convoy system will be introduced overnight on a section of the A9 next month as a £185m upgrade project miles (10km) of new dual carriageway is being built on the trunk road between Moy and Tomatin, south of Inverness,The traffic management system will be in place over a five-week period beginning on 7 July covering the area of the road to the north west of the Moy Rail restrictions will be in place between between 19:30 and 06:00 to minimise disruption while work is done to re-align and widen the road. Transport Scotland said road users should approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys during the said the traffic management would be weather dependent and subject to change.
