Boston Celtics jersey history No. 17 - John Havlicek (1962-78)
The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history.

And for today's article, we will continue with the 11th of 11 people to wear the No. 17 jersey, Hall of Fame Boston wing alum John Havlicek. After ending his college career at Ohio State, Havlicek was picked up with the ninth overall selection of the 1962 NBA draft by the Celtics.
The Martins Ferry, Ohio native played his entire, 16-season career for Boston, winning a total of eight NBA titles, a finals Most Valuable Player award, 13 All-Star nods, 11 All-NBA teams, and too many more honors and achievements to note here, his number retired after he left the league as a player.

During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Havlicek wore only jersey No. 17 and put up 20.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
