Young Sheldon fans left baffled at secret reunion they never knew about on the show

Daily Mail20-06-2025
Three veteran Hollywood stars who were affiliated with the CBS hit series Young Sheldon were also linked with the Toy Story franchise, and Daily Mail is taking a closer look at the casting connection.
Annie Potts, Wallace Shawn and Richard Kind each had recurring roles on the Chuck Lorre spinoff of The Big Bang Theory, which ran for seven seasons from 2017-2024.
Potts, 72, played the role of Connie 'Meemaw' Tucker on 139 episodes of the CBS comedy.
She also portrayed the role of Bo Peep in the Pixar franchise's 1995 debut film Toy Story, followed by 1999's Toy Story 2 and 2019's Toy Story 4.
Wallace Shawn, 81, portrayed Dr. John Sturgis on Young Sheldon over 53 episodes from 2018 until the series finale last year.
Shawn provided the vocals for the Rex character in all of the films and a number of adjacent projects as well.
Kind, 68, played Ira Rosenbloom on Young Sheldon over three episodes from 2018-2019. He played the Bookworm in Toy Story 3.
The veteran character actor has also appeared in TV shows such as Only Murders in the Building and The Goldbergs; in films such as Wolfs and tick, tick... BOOM!; and in voice roles including Inside Out, A Bug's Life, Cars and Cars 2.
Potts chat with Variety in June of 2019 about her comeback to the animated series after she didn't appear in Toy Story 3 in 2010.
'I was invited back in November 2014, and I honestly didn't realize how big my role would be until I saw a screening about six weeks ago,' she said of reprising her role as Bo Peep.
She continued: 'We had a script, but it kept evolving, and I never saw a whole script. None of us did. So I was clueless.
'And then, of course, when I saw it, I was gobsmacked.'
Potts told the outlet that she believed the 2019 sequel Toy Story 4, in which Shawn also appeared, might 'the most emotionally satisfying of all of them in terms of both humor and heart.
She added: 'You laugh, you cry - you cry, you laugh. You just keep cycling through that rinse and repeat throughout an hour and 40 minutes, and it's a good ride.'
Kind and Shawn pictured exchanging lines during an episode of the show in 2018
Kind, 68, played Ira Rosenbloom on Young Sheldon and the Bookworm in Toy Story 3.
Potts spoke on the evolution of the Bo Peep character and preparation being put into it, as Pixar earmarked a dozen team members to assist in further developing the character and its appearance coming into the fourth film in the franchise.
'Honestly I was so amazed that they even had a team of 12 people whose job it was to define her every gesture and the way her eyes turned and in what direction and how her hand would be extended,' Potts said.
She added: 'I mean, that's usually the work that's up to me as an actress, you know?
'But I met them and I thought, "You guys are super on it! Awesome, I can just kind of sit back and let you guys make me!" And the proof is in the pudding.'

Rescue dog which tries to bring everyone her cuddly toys finally gets adopted

Peanut, a senior pit bull, gained global attention through a viral video showing her offering stuffed animals to visitors at a Florida dog shelter. Despite her affectionate nature and playful demeanour, the seven-year-old dog had been overlooked by potential adopters due to her age. Shelter staff at the Humane Society of Broward County noted Peanut's strong attachment to her 'stuffies', which she used for comfort and joy, even taking them on potty breaks. The viral video significantly increased her visibility, leading to a family, who already had a canine companion, visiting the shelter with the intention of adopting her. Peanut 'fell in love' with her new family and was successfully adopted, with shelter staff remarking that her story proved the right family is always worth the wait.

Sydney Sweeney slammed for throwing fellow actor under the bus

Sydney Sweeney has been slammed for throwing her fellow actor under the bus in response to the backlash she received for selling her own bathwater soap - and fans are not happy. Last month, Sweeney released a limited-edition batch of bar soaps with men's grooming brand Dr. Squatch that contained her actual bathwater in them, and it was met with tons of fury online. Some called it 'creepy,' while others were just plain confused - although the product sold out in seconds. Sweeney defended her bathwater creation in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal published on Wednesday, as she tried to point out that actor Jacob Elordi was previously linked to a similar product. In January 2024, a candle named 'Jacob Elordi's Bathwater' was released by the brand Side Hustle Vibes, and was available for purchase on Amazon and Etsy, according to Variety . It had been inspired by a sexual scene in his hit movie Saltburn where his co-star Barry Keoghan drank the bathwater he had been masturbating in. 'It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting,' Sweeney told the outlet in regards to the controversy. 'They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi's bathwater,' she added. Elordi was not involved in the sale of the candle and never promoted the product; it came in three different scents - vanilla, comfort spice, and sea breeze - and while it was inspired by the movie scene it did not contain his actual bathwater. Fans were not too happy after reading Sweeney's response, as many felt like she was throwing her Eurphoria co-star Elordi 'under the bus.' 'Alienating your female fanbase and throwing your friend and co-worker under the bus over a bath water candle that was being sold without his permission is so funny,' one person wrote on X. Another agreed, 'I don't like that she's trying to act like women are hating/jealous bc they think bathwater soap is strange. It is a weird product, she should just own it.' 'No one thinks this a good idea. It's disgusting,' someone else typed. 'Jacob Elordi wasn't selling his bath water, a candle company not associated with him was making candles advertised as smelling like his bath water. Those are not the same sis,' one X user shared. However, others agreed with the sentiments that she shared in her interview with The Wall Street Journal. 'The double standard is real. We'd be outraged if men criticized women this way, but somehow it's acceptable in reverse,' one wrote. Another seconded, 'The double standard is real. Women criticize other women's marketing while supporting the same from men they find attractive.' Sweeney's comments to WSJ come just weeks after she was embroiled in another controversy for her American Eagle denim campaign. The A-list actress is the face of the label's autumn advertising rollout, which has the tagline, 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' Sweeney is seen buttoning up her jeans as she muses in a video: 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color... my genes are blue'. A second advert sees the camera pan down Sweeney's chest as she models a plunging denim jumpsuit. She muses: 'My body's composition is determined by my genes...' before exclaiming: 'Hey, eyes up here' as the camera cuts back to her face. The advertisement has divided fans, however, with one critic calling the clip 'one of the loudest and most obvious racialized dog whistles we've seen and heard in a while.' The phrase 'great genes' is 'historically used to celebrate whiteness, thinness and attractiveness,' which it said made 'this campaign seem to be a tone-deaf marketing move,' a Salon report on the backlash read. Sweeney did not address the American Eagle controversy in her recent WSJ interview.
