Chelsea's Maresca fumes at Real Betis having 48 hours longer to prepare for final
Enzo Maresca has hit out at Real Betis being given an extra two days to prepare for the Uefa Conference League final against Chelsea.
Maresca, whose immediate focus is on ensuring that his side seal Champions League qualification when they visit Nottingham Forest on Sunday, did not hide his displeasure at the scheduling around next Wednesday's clash with Betis in Wroclaw. Chelsea's head coach claimed it is unfair for the Spanish club to be playing on Friday night when they end their La Liga campaign by hosting Valencia.
Betis have nothing to play for in the league and will have more time to rest before the final, whereas Chelsea will have little time to recover from their daunting trip to the City Ground on the final day of the Premier League season. The Stamford Bridge club must beat Forest to guarantee their place in the top five but Maresca is also looking to claim silverware in his first year in charge.
''I am not happy, 100%,' the Italian said. 'You cannot allow a team 48 hours more time when they are playing a European final. 'I don't know if it's [down to] the Premier League, La Liga or Uefa but it is not normal to play a team who has had 48 hours more time than you.
Maresca was asked if Uefa should have intervened and made Betis play on Sunday. 'It is not correct,' he said. 'I don't know who it is but there should be rules, absolutely yes.'
Nicolas Jackson is missing through suspension against Forest, leaving Chelsea without their main striker. Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu have returned to training but Maresca said that neither forward is at full fitness yet. He added that Chelsea's reserve goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen, who has played throughout the Conference League, will not step aside for Robert Sánchez against Betis.
'Filip is going to play in the final,' he said. 'He's played all competition, it would be unfair to take him out now. It will be Filip plus 10 players, I'm not sure who else will play. He deserves to play in the final.'

Inzaghi leaves Inter after Champions League debacle
Simone Inzaghi has left as coach of Inter Milan following their 5-0 record defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday's Champions League final. Inter, who won Serie A last season, also saw Napoli steal their domestic crown. Advertisement A club statement on Tuesday said the decision was mutual. "The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year-long journey, throughout which I gave my all," Inzaghi said. "Every day, my first and last thought was always about Inter. It was then reciprocated with professionalism and passion by the players, leaders, and every single one of the club's employees." The 49-year-old also led Inter to the 2023 Champions League final but they again lost to Manchester City, albeit only by a 1-0 scoreline. 'It means everything,' Vitinha said. 'The fans are the main reason we wanted to win this trophy. Advertisement 'But we wanted to win this trophy for a lot of reasons. It's our dream, it's everyone's dream, it's my dream and I'm glad we made it. It's incredible. 'It says a lot about this group of players, this team. It's a very good team and this result is not by magic. We are a very good team and we are very happy we did it like this and now we're going to celebrate.'

Brentford complete £18m signing of Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is on his way to Brentford (PA Wire) Caoimhin Kelleher has completed his move from Liverpool to Brentford for £18m. The Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper joins Brentford as the replacement for Mark Flekken, who has completed his £11m transfer to Bayer Leverkusen. Advertisement Brentford were swift to identify Kelleher as their top target to take over from the Dutchman and he passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the London club. Kelleher's sale means Liverpool have brought in around £70m in a year from Brentford after last summer's sales of defender Sepp van den Berg and attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho. The 26-year-old only had one year left on his contract at Anfield and Liverpool avoided losing him on a free transfer by selling him now. Kelleher wanted first-team football and, though he had made 46 appearances in the last two seasons, Alisson is established as Liverpool's first choice. Caoimhin Kelleher leaves Liverpool after five years as Alisson's number two (EPA) In addition, Liverpool bought Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia last summer and while they immediately loaned him back to the Spanish club, the Georgia international is due to arrive at Anfield this year. Kelleher, who made his Liverpool debut in 2019, excelled in two Carabao Cup final wins but, while he has become a regular for his country, has only made 67 senior club appearances in his career.
