2025 Louisiana Tech Football Predictions: Bulldogs Ranked 110th in RJ Young's Ultimate 136
College Football 2025 Louisiana Tech Football Predictions: Bulldogs Ranked 110th in RJ Young's Ultimate 136 Published Aug. 10, 2025 9:41 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link This isn't your average college football ranking. My Ultimate 136 is a set of rankings that is fluid, but it's my job to look ahead and make a claim for all FBS teams based on what I know and why I know it. Here are the three pressing questions I started by asking when putting together this list: Who do I think is good? Why do I think they're good? What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations? Here is a look at where Louisiana Tech lands in my Ultimate 136. Louisiana Tech ranking: 110 Last year's ranking: 125 Top player: RB Omiri Wiggins: Made nine starts last year and finished the season with 527 rushing yards and 4 TDs; led the team in rushing yards and rush attempts and was tied for the team lead in total touchdowns. [Louisiana Tech's 2025 schedule] RJ's take: Entering Year 4 with an 11-26 record, Sonny Cumbie needs to find a catalyst. Perhaps he's done just that in hiring offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, 67, who last called plays for the Army Black Knights sprint football team. ADVERTISEMENT At Louisiana Tech, expect to see Franklin run an old-school air raid, locate his best playmaker and find as many ways to funnel that man the ball as possible. And at the end of the season, the Bulldogs will hope to have won at least as many games lost. [Check out RJ Young's Ultimate 136 College Football Rankings here] Louisiana Tech Win Total Odds: Over 6.5 (+134), Under (-164) Have an issue with my rankings? Think your alma mater is too low, or your school's rival is too high? Get at me on X, @RJ_Young , and I'll select my favorite tweets and respond to them in a future article. Shilo Sanders trying to move up Deion Sanders, Bucs' depth chart
Shilo Sanders, the middle son of Deion Sanders, made his NFL debut on Saturday Jackson State graduate and former Colorado safety played in the 29-7 win by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the Tennessee recorded one official tackle, but he also recorded a hurry against Titans quarterback Brandon Allen. "It felt good," Sanders told the media after the game. "Thank you, God, for putting me in position to even be on the field. I feel like I left some big hits on the table. Next game will be some improvement on my angles, on my tracking because you don't really get to work on it in an NFL practice or you're gonna get kicked out of practice. Seeing a game for the first time in a long time, did some good things. It is what it is." Shilo Sanders' first NFL game as an undrafted free agent came on the birthday of his father, Deion Sanders. He said he offered his game jersey to his father, but was turned down. "He didn't want it," Shilo said, laughing. "He's a Hall of Famer. He expects 30 times more. I'm gonna give it to my mom, though. I gotta get like three picks or something (for him)." Sanders started his college career at South Carolina before joining his father and brother Shedeur at Jackson State for two seasons, graduating from the school in 2023. He was named all-SWAC as a defensive back after the 2021 season. He spent the last two seasons of his college career at Colorado. Now he's hoping to stick in the NFL. He's also looking to move up the list of his father's children. He was most recently listed as fifth out of five. FAMU football picked to miss HBCU postseason in 2025 SWAC Predicted Order of Finish
Florida A&M football is expected to have a similar season to the one it had last year. In the Southwestern Athletic Conference's predicted order of finish, the Rattlers were picked to finish second in the East division behind the defending league and Black College Football Champions, Jackson State. Last year, FAMU went 7-5 and tied for second in the SWAC East under first-year head coach James Colzie III. The Rattlers earned 99 total points with three first-place votes in the SWAC predictions. Led by Jackson State, with 126 points and 16 first-place votes, the SWAC East preseason rankings are FAMU, Alabama State (91 points, two first-place votes), Alabama A&M (62 points), Bethune-Cookman (45 points, one first-place vote), and Mississippi Valley State (24 points). Southern leads the SWAC West with 120 points and 17 first-place votes, followed by Alcorn State (90 points, two first-place votes), Prairie View A&M (72 points, one first-place vote), Texas Southern (60 points), Grambling State (55 points), and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (28 points, one first-place vote). FAMU finishing second in the SWAC East means it would not qualify for the HBCU football postseason, as the league places the East and West divisions' regular season winners versus each other for the championship game in December. The SWAC champion faces the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title holder in December's Celebration Bowl, the de facto Black College Football National Championship game. If they don't make the HBCU playoff, the Rattlers' challenging schedule this season could earn them an at-large bid to the Football Championship Subdivision tournament, which begins in late November. The Rattlers' 2025 season kicks off in the Orange Blossom Classic versus the Howard Bison on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
