Strasbourg's Mamadou Sarr to join Chelsea before Club World Cup
Sarr's move from RC Strasbourg Alsace to Stamford Bridge has not yet been confirmed, however, that is expected to change in the coming hours. As per a report from RMC Sport in January, the French centre-back is set to join RCSA's partner club in a €20m deal.

That deal will be completed imminently, L'Équipe understands. After a few days of rest, he will link up with his new Chelsea teammates before flying to the USA for the Club World Cup. There, he will be observed over the course of several weeks by Maresca, and a decision will then be taken whether to retain him for next season or send him back on loan to Strasbourg.

Chelsea Are Keeping Tabs On The Situation Of This Newcastle United Star: Dream Signing For Maresca?
In a recent report, The Independent mentioned that Chelsea are keeping tabs on the situation of Newcastle United star Alexander Isak this summer. It has been claimed that the Blues are ready to compete with Liverpool in the race to land the Swedish striker this off-season. Isak's Impressive Record At Tyneside Last Season Isak was one of the top performers in the Premier League last season when he put in a handful of productive displays for the Magpies in the final third. The Sweden international found the back of the net 27 times and earned six assists in 42 matches for Newcastle United in the previous campaign across various competitions. The 25-year-old was a reliable performer up top and did well to average 3.10 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He kept 43.2% of his attempts on target. Isak even distributed possession accurately in the opponent's half based on his pass completion rate of 75.3% in top-flight football (stats via His current deal at the Tyneside club will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Blues to snap him up on the cheap in this summer transfer window. NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND – MAY 25: Newcastle player Alexander Isak reacts during the Premier League match between Newcastle United FC and Everton FC at St James' Park on May 25, 2025 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. (Photo by) Will Isak Be A Dream Signing For Chelsea? Isak excels at creating some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a powerful runner with the ball up top. The Sweden international has proven his worth as a deadly finisher in front of the opponent's goal. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at Chelsea if they can devise a way to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window. Isak would add plenty of goals to Enzo Maresca's attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting place at the West London club next season. At 25, Isak has his best years ahead of him which makes him a dream signing for the Blues to pursue in this transfer period. Furthermore, he is good enough to help Chelsea challenge for the Premier League title in the coming years.

FIFPRO hit out at FIFA for ignoring players' 'basic needs' and claim footballers fear consequences of speaking out over increasingly demanding schedules
Players concerned about too many games FIFPRO slam FIFA for ignoring their "basic needs" Say many fear consequences of speaking out Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? FIFPRO's general secretary, Alex Phillips, states that many of the 66,000 men's and women's players they represent around the world are concerned about their lack of rest and the sheer number of games they play. She added that there is also a fear of reprisal if they speak their mind on the topic. WHAT PHILLIPS SAID She said: "Players are wary of speaking up because they don't have the power. Individually they might have wealth, the top 1%, but 99% of players don't have power apart from via their union or association. Before the Club World Cup I was speaking to some of the top stars and they were saying they hadn't had a rest for 'X' amount of time, and one said I only get a rest when I get injured. Others were resigned and cynical about speaking up. Then you see some of the same players two weeks later having to record social media videos saying 'we think the Club World Cup is so great' because their employers tell them to do it and it's part of their job. You have this contradictory situation where players can't speak up. They are in an invidious position. They can speak up but it could have consequences." THE BIGGER PICTURE In response, FIFA said it was "extremely disappointed by the increasingly divisive and contradictory tone adopted by FIFPRO leadership". The governing body said in a statement: "The game deserves unity, not division. Players deserve action, not rhetoric. FIFA will move forward together with players and those who really want the best for football. It is up to Fifpro to answer this call." Despite that, players such as Manchester City's Rodri has threatened to go on strike as many have been left exhausted by the increasingly demanding schedule - something that was exacerbated with this summer's Club World Cup. Moreover, FIFPRO were reportedly not invited to a key meeting that FIFA held on player welfare earlier this month, and this has happened before, too. WHAT NEXT? This war of words may continue between FIFA and FIFPRO but unless a solution is found, players are likely to get increasingly burnt out or pick up more injuries that could damage their careers. For example, Club World Cup winners Chelsea won the tournament on July 13, and just 35 days later, their Premier League campaign begins.

Knicks second-round pick Mohamed Diawara finalizes decision on basketball future
Forward Mohamed Diawara will leave Cholet Basket of the LNB Pro A and play with the New York Knicks next season, the French team announced on Friday. Diawara was the 51st pick after averaging 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 43.9% shooting from the field in 49 games across all league competitions last season. He scored in double figures 13 times, including a season-high 14 points and seven rebounds on May 28. The 20-year-old previously played with Paris Basketball and Poitiers Basket 86 in the second division of the French League before joining Cholet Basket. He won the EuroCup championship with Paris Basketball during the 2023-24 season. Diawara debuted with the Knicks in the NBA Summer League, averaging seven points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals on 40% shooting from the field in four appearances. He finished with nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals on July 19. The 6-foot-8 Frenchman impressed in the annual summer showcase as a player who can handle the ball, finish in transition and space the floor a bit. He also projects to be a versatile defender on the other end of the court, boasting a reported 7-foot, 4-inch wingspan. Diawara will now make the transition to the United States for next season, rather than staying in Europe as a draft-and-stash prospect. He projects to be in the mix to sign a two-way contract or a standard contract via the second-round pick exception.
