Fish Venkat's Family Denies Receiving Rs 50 Lakh Aid From Prabhas, Calls It Fake
Veteran Telugu actor Fish Venkat, currently battling severe health issues and undergoing treatment in the ICU, is facing financial challenges amid his critical condition. The actor is reportedly in need of a kidney transplant, which his family says will cost around Rs 50 lakh. While earlier reports had suggested that actor Prabhas had extended financial support, Venkat's family has now clarified that this claim was based on a hoax.
In a recent interview with Suman TV, a family member confirmed that a call received last week, allegedly from Prabhas' assistant offering help, turned out to be fake. 'Actually, nothing like that happened. We have been answering every call we get to see if anyone can help us. Some unknown person called us pretending to be Prabhas Anna's assistant. We found out after that it was a fake call. He doesn't even know something like this is happening. We have not received any financial help yet," they said.
This update contradicts an earlier statement made by Venkat's daughter, Sravanthi, during an interview with One India. At the time, she had claimed, 'Daddy isn't well at all. He is very serious and in the ICU. He needs a kidney transplant. It will cost us at least ₹50 lakh. Prabhas' assistant called us and offered financial assistance. They asked us to inform them when his transplant happens to cover the cost."
While help from Prabhas' team hasn't materialised, a few individuals from the film industry and political sphere have come forward. Actor Vishwak Sen contributed Rs 2 lakh towards Venkat's treatment. In a video shared by Sasi TV, the family expressed gratitude: 'Vishwak Sen is the first hero from the film industry to know about Fish Venkat's health and donate Rs 2 lakh. This is going to help us a lot… we urge everyone, from small artists to big heroes, to help Fish Venkat Anna."
Earlier this year, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also donated Rs 2 lakh, while politician Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao provided Rs 1 lakh in support. The family continues to seek urgent assistance, saying that no industry associations have stepped in so far.
Fish Venkat is known in Tollywood for his comedic and villainous roles, earning the moniker 'fish' due to his strong Telangana dialect. He has acted in numerous hit films like Bunny, Adhurs, Dhee, and Mirapakay alongside top Tollywood stars. Recently, he appeared in R.P Patnaik's thriller 'Coffee with a Killer', which features Temper Vamsi, Ravi Prakash, Siva Karthi, Srinivasa Reddy, Ravi Babu, and others. The box office is in a much better shape now as mid-range films have started to do well, and cinema is no longer a medium for just the tentpole spectacles. A finish in the north of Rs 200 crore would have been sweeter for Sitaare Zameen Par, but the drop on the first Monday had more or less put curtains on the dreams of a double century in India. Nonetheless, this is a good result for the Aamir Khan starrer, and a much-needed HIT for the actor, bringing him back in the business.
