CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Danny Muscovski scored a goal in each half and 18-year-old Snyder Brunell scored in his league debut as the Seattle Sounders cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday night.
Seattle grabbed the lead in the 25th minute on an own goal by defender Julián Aude.
The Sounders took a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute on Muscovski's unassisted goal. He made it 3-0 in the 54th minute with another unassisted goal. Muscovski has already scored a career-high eight times this season. He had five netters with Los Angeles FC as a rookie in 2020 and five for Real Salt Lake in 2023.
Brunell subbed in for Jesús Ferreira in the 73rd minute and scored in the 85th. Defender Álex Roldán notched his third assist of the season and the fourth of his career. Rookie Kalani Kossa-Rienzi collected his third assist.
Andrew Thomas finished with three saves for his first clean sheet in his seventh start of the season for Seattle. He had two shutouts in five starts last season.
Novak Micovic saved five shots for Los Angeles. He had three saves and Thomas wasn't tested in the first half.
Seattle is unbeaten in its last seven league matches at 4-0-3 and is on a 10-match unbeaten streak across all competitions after winning all three matches in Phase One of the Leagues Cup to advance.
The last time the two clubs squared off was in last season's Western Conference championship match — a 1-0 victory at home for the Galaxy on a goal in the 85th minute by Dejan Joveljić, who now plays for Sporting Kansas City.
Seattle leads the all-time series 15-11-14 in league play and 21-18-14 across all competitions.
The Sounders travel to play Minnesota United on Saturday. The Galaxy head to Florida to play Inter Miami on Saturday.

Browns coach has oddest timeline on when he'll reveal Week 1 QB starter

Browns coach has oddest timeline on when he'll reveal Week 1 QB starter originally appeared on The Sporting News Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has to make up his mind about making up his mind. Confused yet? Don't worry, it's not just you. It's all a bit confusing. Stefanski has been asked constantly about who his starting quarterback will be following Shedeur Sanders' great preseason performance against the Panthers. And the Cleveland head coach hasn't wanted to give anything away. His latest comments to reporters on Monday were reported like this by Mary Kay Cabot: "Kevin Stefanski said he's thinking about when to name his Week 1 starter, and will decide after this Philly trip when to announce it." MORE: Shedeur Sanders shows his NFL Draft slide might've been a mistake So he's not only thinking about who his Week 1 starter will be. He's thinking about when to do it, and when to announce it. Sounds complicated. It kind of is, too. The Browns have 40-year old Joe Flacco, the presumed favorite for the gig. There's a somewhat veteran Kenny Pickett, who actually has a winning record as an NFL starting quarterback. Then there's fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was chosen 50 picks before Sanders was in April's draft. MORE: Bills' roster hopeful hasn't cut his hair in 7 years, for good reason The Browns don't necessarily have a team that can win a lot of games this season, which also complicates the calculus on playing veterans versus rookies. Regardless, Stefanski will have to make the call. And then he'll have to tell his team. And then he'll have to tell the rest of us. Apparently, all those decisions are weighing on his mind right now. Better him than us, because this one ain't easy. New jaw-dropping angle of TreVeyon Henderson's 100-yard touchdown run

New England Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson made his mark early in Friday's preseason win over the Washington Commanders. He took the opening kickoff and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown. Now, we are seeing a new jaw-dropping angle of the return. Henderson had a solid game overall against the Commanders. He had one carry for 18 yards, as well as three catches for 12 yards to go along with the touchdown. The kickoff return immediately electrified the stadium and gave Patriots fans a preview of his breakaway speed and ability to make things happen with the ball in his hands. Henderson is a game-changer in a Patriots offense that had limited playmakers last season. If Friday's debut was a hint of things to come, we could be witnessing an entirely different offense in 2025. The Patriots look like they are finally headed in the right direction. Jeremiyah Love, Leonard Moore named to ESPN preseason college football All-America team

Pretty soon the preseason accolades for Notre Dame football will cease, because the regular season is drawing closer and closer. But before the Fighting Irish kick off the 2025 college football season at Miami on August 31, the acknowledgements continue to roll in as ESPN released its preseason college football All-America team, which unsurprisingly features star running back Jeremiyah Love and cornerback Leonard is poised for even bigger numbers after rushing for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns last year, a key piece of a squad that made it all the way to the College Football Playoff national championship game. Despite ND's deep backfield, Love is expected to get even more touches this fall because of his game-breaking ability. Meanwhile, Moore is only a sophomore and is already one of the top cornerbacks in the country. He was the FWAA freshman defensive player of the year in 2024, when he led the Fighting Irish with 11 pass breakups and recorded two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
