NEW DELHI: Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah Tuesday pitched for making the dairy sector more sustainable and environment friendly, and stressed on the need to ensure benefits of carbon credits to farmers.
He was addressing a meeting on 'Sustainability and Circularity in the Cooperative Dairy Sector' where it was decided to set up three new multi-state cooperative societies for the dairy sector to focus on animal feed production, disease control and artificial insemination; developing cow dung management models; and circular use of dead cattle remains.

, goal should not only be to expand dairy cooperatives and make them efficient but also to create an ecosystem of dairy that is sustainable and promotes a circular economy.
He emphasised on adopting scientific models that can help farmers earn carbon credits by reducing emissions in dairy sector through sustainable practices. If such a model is developed, dairy farmers can earn carbon credits and trade it with other entities under carbon credit market mechanism in India.
Shah said if farmers' income is to be increased, country must create network of integrated cooperatives where most work is done via mutual cooperation & collaboration.

G. Vivek, continuing his father's legacy
HYDERABAD The younger son of prominent Congress leader and former Union Minister Gaddam Venkatswamy, popularly known as 'Kaka', Vivek Venkatswamy was elected from the Chennur (SC) Assembly constituency in Mancherial district as a Congress candidate in 2023. His brother, Gaddam Vinod, is currently serving as the Bellampalli MLA. Mr. Vivek also runs a news channel and a Telugu daily. He had a long association with the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

Empowering women, empowering India: Nadda highlights transformative initiatives on 11 years of ‘Sashakt Nari'
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, J.P. Nadda, on Sunday emphasised the role of key government initiatives in transforming the lives of women across India, marking "11 years of Sashakt Nari" -- a sustained efforts toward women's empowerment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Initiatives such as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Drone Didi, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with its focus on toilet construction, Mahila Shakti Kendras, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao have empowered our sisters and opened countless new opportunities," the Minister said in a post on social media platform X. He added that these schemes have placed women's aspirations at the heart of policymaking and governance. "Over the past 11 years, women have played an active role in every sector -- from healthcare and education to innovation and national defence," the Union Minister stated. "PM Modi's vision has ensured that women are not only included in the development journey but are leading it," he added. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, for instance, aims to increase women's participation in politics, while the Ujjwala Yojana has improved health and dignity for millions of rural women by providing clean cooking fuel. The innovative Drone Didi scheme is helping rural women learn drone operation for agricultural and logistical tasks, expanding both income and skill opportunities. Cleanliness and sanitation saw a significant boost through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, with an emphasis on toilet construction in homes and public spaces, bringing safety and dignity to women. Meanwhile, Mahila Shakti Kendras are offering support, training, and guidance to women at the grassroots, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao continues to advocate for the rights and education of the girl child. As India celebrates #11YearsOfSashaktNari, Minister Nadda called on citizens to continue building a society where women feel secure, valued, and empowered to achieve their dreams.

Having won from a reserved seat like Jamui and Hajipur (his father Ram Vilas Paswan contested from this seat, which became a bone of contention with his uncle at one point), the Union minister is focused on a general seat like Nawada. In the 2020 election, the JD(U) contested 115 seats but won only 43. The BJP, meanwhile, won 71 out of 110 seats it contested while the HAM won four of seven seats. Vikaasheel Insaan Party won four of the 11 it contested, taking the NDA's score to 125.
