Original lead singer of iconic metal band dies at 69

Yahoo2 days ago
Paul Mario Day, Iron Maiden's original lead singer, has died after a reported battle with cancer. He was 69.
The heavy metal vocalist died peacefully at his Australia home on Tuesday, July 29, Parade reported. Iron Maiden also posted about Day's death on Facebook Wednesday.
'We are deeply saddened that Paul Mario Day, Iron Maiden's first ever vocalist back in 1975, has passed away,' the band wrote. 'Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Paul's family and friends. Paul was a lovely person and good mate. Rest in peace Paul.'
Day joined Iron Maiden as their inaugural frontman in December 1975 at just 19 years old. Day performed at Iron Maiden's first concert on May 1, 1976, at St. Nicholas Hall in Poplar, London, before being replaced by Dennis Wilcock in October of that same year.
After leaving Iron Maiden, Day continued his career in the British heavy metal scene. In 1980, he formed the band More, releasing their debut album 'Warhead' in 1981.
'We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the great More vocalist Paul Mario Day,' his former band More wrote in a statement, per Parade. 'Paul was a huge part of the [New Wave of British Heavy Metal] from his time in an early version of Iron Maiden, and of course his fantastic performance on the 'Warhead' album.'
More then fronted the band Wildfire from 1983 to 1984 after leaving More before their sophomore album. More's most commercially successful period came in 1985 when the singer joined Sweet, working alongside guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker.
'Paul Mario Day RIP,' Scott said, according to Parade. 'PMD was the original singer with IRON MAIDEN and had a stint with the band MORE before joining SWEET. He passed away peacefully at his home in Australia.'

Mel B Rocks a Red Bedazzled Plunging Naked Dress for a Surprise Second Wedding

The Gist Mel B and Rory McPhee have held a surprise "second wedding" in Marrakech following their London wedding on July 5. Mel B rocked a stunning sheer strapless gown that was dripping in red jewels for the occasion. "A wedding so good we keep the celebration going with our closest and dearest in our fav place," she wrote on it looks like 2 became 1... again. In the wise words of the Spice Girls themselves "too much of something is bad enough"—but clearly, two weddings is just the right amount for Mel B, aka Scary Spice. The singer tied the knot with hairstylist Rory McPhee on July 5 in a ceremony in London. Now, one month later, it would appear the pair have decided to walk down the aisle one more time. Mel B shared a photo of their follow-up ceremony in Marrakech on Instagram. In the photo, the happy couple were pictured grooving at the end of what appeared to be a white carpeted aisle. Mel swapped the traditional white wedding dress for something a little more fun, opting for a sheer tulle gown by Justine Alexander covered in red sparkling jewels. As the designer noted in an Instagram comment, she picked "sultry red crystals for a little bit of spice." The dramatic dress featured a plunging neckline and an impressive train that stretched out behind her. She also wore matching red accessories in her hair and a pair of red strappy heels. McPhee also switched up his look, opting for a white jacket paired with black pants and a black bow tie. "We got married!!! Again! A wedding so good we keep the celebration going with our closest and dearest in our fav place at @selmanmarrakech ❤️❤️❤️ we had the time of our lives!!" Mel wrote in the caption. This surprise second ceremony follows what appeared to be a more traditional wedding ceremony in London on July 5. For the first ceremony, Mel opted for a white Josephine Scott mermaid gown with pearl detailing before changing into another wedding dress by designer Justin Alexander, per People. 'She's iconic, powerful, and radiant, and this dress had to be worthy of that," Scott told The Sun of the first dress. "Every detail was chosen to honour her strength and sensuality, while celebrating the woman and the love story beneath the girl power." Prior to her wedding, Mel had hinted that she would never settle for just one wedding dress. "I don't think it would be fair to just have one," she told Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager in January. "Just have as many as you want—at least three, right? I'm going to really go for it. One to actually get married in, which is the proper ceremony—very proper at this church, St. Paul's [Cathedral]. And then maybe I want to change out of that and be a bit more less… You know, I actually don't know!" Well, now that we've seen three gowns, it seems that she was true to her word! Mel B later shared a video of the ceremony, writing, "THE best day of our life ❤️❤️❤️." Read the original article on InStyle

Amber Davies calls out woman for filming West End show

Amber Davies has hit out at a "selfish" member of the audience in the middle of The Great Gatsby musical this weekend. The actor and reality TV personality shared a message for fans after someone "ruined" part of her performance. During the interval at last night's show, Davies issued a warning to those attending the musical after being distracted by someone in the audience. "The closer you are to the stage when you're watching a show the more obvious it is when you're filming. If you're filming in the stalls, we can see you!" The former Love Island star went on to share, "If you're filming, the reflection from the lights bounce straight back off the back of your iPhone onto us on stage. So it is the one thing we can see. "So, to the woman filming tonight, you distracted absolutely everybody on that stage. "Also, I single-handedly will count how many seats back you are and tell our stage manager where you're sitting and what colour hair you've got, and trust me, they will come and ask you to delete the footage, so you've basically done it for nothing." Davies plays Jordan Baker in the West End production of the acclaimed show at the London Coliseum.
