Cricket-Dawson back in England team after eight-year absence for fourth test v India
(Reuters) -England's Liam Dawson has been named in the team to play India in the fourth test of the series at Old Trafford, England's cricket board (ECB) announced on Monday, marking the spinner's first test appearance in eight years.
The 35-year-old Hampshire left-armer, who replaces the injured Shoaib Bashir, is the only change to the team for the fourth test which begins on Wednesday. Dawson has not played a test match since earning his third test cap in July 2017.
Dawson, an unused member of the 2019 World Cup winning squad, did feature in the Twenty20 series against West Indies in June.
Bashir suffered a fracture to his finger during the third test at Lord's, which England won by 22 runs to take a 2-1 lead, leaving them one victory away from clinching their first five-match series win since 2018.

Germany's women's football team optimistic despite Euro semi-final loss
GERMANY'S players and coach Christian Wueck said their team would continue to develop and would come back stronger after their extra-time defeat to Spain in the UEFA Women's Euros semi-final. Barcelona's Aitana Bonmati struck in the 113th minute to break German hearts at Zurich's Letzigrund stadium on Wednesday. 'I am proud of the team, and yes, we will continue from here,' Wueck said. 'It was another setback, but I believe we can build on that and we will now try to carry that on in the Nations League.' Germany had exceeded expectations by holding out against World Champions Spain for so long, Wueck said. 'And I believe that the development we have started is the right one and we stand behind it 100%,' he added. Defender Rebecca Knaak said the performance showed her team was on the right track. 'We also showed today that we could play with a bit more courage, a bit more self-confidence, even against Spain, because of course we defended a lot, but we also wanted to set the tone in terms of play,' Knaak said. Soccer-Mexican Federation fines Chicharito following sexist remarks
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has fined Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and launched an investigation after the former Manchester United striker posted social media videos that football authorities said "promote sexist stereotypes". In a joint statement released on Wednesday by FMF along with Mexico's top men's and women's leagues - Liga MX and Liga MX Femenil - officials said Hernandez's remarks were in violation of their gender and diversity policies and constituted a form of media violence. A representative for the Chivas Guadalajara player did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. FMF has imposed a financial fine and issued a warning, and more severe sanctions could follow if Hernandez repeats such behaviour. "A few days ago on the social media platform 'TikTok', Hernandez made statements that promote sexist stereotypes that are considered media violence and go against gender equality in sport," the football bodies said in the statement. "The Gender and Diversity Commission announces that it has initiated an investigation that seeks to prevent and punish this behaviour, determining to impose a financial penalty and a warning on Javier 'El Chicharito' Hernandez, stating that this Commission will take more severe measures in the event of a repeat offence." Hernandez, 37, posted videos over the weekend in which he called on women to "let themselves be guided by a man" and accused women of "eradicating masculinity". The high-profile athlete also said society had become "hypersensitive" and questioned feminist views on domestic roles. The remarks were widely criticised as sexist and out of touch with contemporary society, prompting condemnation from fans and public figures including President Claudia Sheinbaum.
