Egypt's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia's Franchise International to support and empower Egyptian and Saudi brands, accelerate franchise operations, and prepare local businesses for regional and international markets.
As part of the partnership, both parties will develop programmes aimed at improving franchise readiness, helping brands meet international standards, and providing technical and strategic guidance. This includes supporting local businesses in food, services, and retail sectors as they transition into franchise operations.
The collaboration is part of the preparations for the upcoming Egyptian–Saudi International Franchise Exhibition, scheduled for early 2026. The exhibition is expected to host over 300 brands, bringing together franchisors, investors, and support institutions from across the Arab world.
According to MSMEDA, around 70 Egyptian brands are already receiving support to scale through franchising, including guidance on branding, operations, and market entry strategies.

Egypt's treasury expected to generate revenues of approximately US$100 billion

Credit rating agency Fitch Solutions anticipates Egypt to generate approximately US$97 billion in tourism revenues by 2029, the privately-owned al-Mal newspaper reported on Monday. A recent report issued by the agency during the third quarter of this year, including its forecasts for the future of Egyptian tourism over the next five years, added that estimates indicate that the sector will generate revenues of US$17.5 billion by the end of this year, rising to $18.6 billion in 2026. Fitch explained that Egyptian tourism will achieve strong growth of 8.1 percent year-on-year, reaching $17.6 billion in 2025, compared to $16.2 billion last year, in line with the increase in tourist numbers. It pointed out that the tourism sector is expected to generate approximately $19.6 billion in 2027, surpassing the $20 billion mark in 2028, and reaching $20.9 billion in 2029. The report said that international tourism revenues in Egypt were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions imposed at the time, leading to a decline to $4.9 billion in 2020, compared to $14.3 billion in 2019. Fitch explained that, over the coming years, improved consumer spending in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa will contribute to increased visitor revenues. According to the report, many tourists visiting Egypt are relatively wealthy travelers with high purchasing power, particularly from the UK, Germany, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Egypt received approximately 8.7 million tourists during the first half of this year, a 22 percent increase compared to the same period last year, it noted. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, stated that there has been a 22-23 percent increase in the volume of tourism revenues during the first six months of this year, compared to the same period in 2024.

Egypt's Hotel Occupancy Hits 80% Amid Rise in Tourist Arrivals

Ahmed Emam Egypt's tourism sector is witnessing robust growth in 2025, with hotel occupancy averaging more than 80% across major tourist destinations and international arrivals up 23% since the start of the year compared with 2024, Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy said. Speaking to Asharq Bloomberg, Fathy projected that tourist arrivals will grow between 15% and 20% for the full year, noting that last year's 15.8% increase relative to available rooms was already considered a strong performance. He revealed that the upcoming inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will serve as a major new attraction to draw additional visitors. Fathy revealed that 6,000 new hotel rooms were added during the first half of 2025, with further capacity expected to open later this year. He said the government will on Monday review the master plan for the Giza Plateau area stretching from Sphinx International Airport to Saqqara, prepared by a global consultancy firm. The plan will determine the number and type of hotel rooms to be developed in the area. According to the numbers of the government, Tourism revenues climbed 22% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, reaching $8 billion, the minister said earlier this month. In 2024, Egypt launched a 50 billion Egyptian pound ($1 billion) initiative to support tourism companies in expanding hotel capacity. The program offers loans at a declining interest rate of 12%, with a financing cap of 1 billion pounds per company and 2 billion pounds for related entities, on the condition that beneficiaries sell 40% of their foreign-currency revenues to local banks. Applications for financing under the initiative have far exceeded its allocations, surpassing 200 billion pounds—four times the original envelope. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
