The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted seven accused, including three absconders, in the December 2024 case related to the grenade attack on Gurdaspur Police Station by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorists, officials on Friday said.
The terror attack on Ghanie Ke Bangar Police Station in Batala, Gurdaspur district, Punjab, was claimed on social media by BKI operatives Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia and Gurpreet alias Gopi, they said.
US-based Passia, along with Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda as well as Shamsher Singh alias Shera alias Honey, are the three absconders chargesheeted by the NIA in the case on Thursday before a court in Mohali, the officials said.
The four arrested accused chargesheeted by the anti-terror agency have been identified as Kuljit Singh, Abhijot Singh, Gurjinder Singh and Shubham, all residents of village Qila Lal Singh, Batala, Punjab, according to a statement issued by the NIA.

The NIA, which took over the case on March 23 this year, found during investigation that at Rinda's behest, Happy Passia, had recruited Abhijot Singh through his node, Shamsher Singh in Armenia, to carry out the terror attack, the probe agency said.

On his return from Armenia, Abhijot had engaged in picking and dropping of weapons/ explosives on the directions of his foreign-based handlers.
"He had expanded his gang by recruiting Kuljit Singh and other co accused. On 9th December 2024, Kuljit had picked up the grenade for the attack on police station Ghanie Ke Bangar," the statement said.
The NIA is continuing with its investigation as part of its efforts to dismantle BKI's terror network in India, it added"

Mumbai-based businessman stabbed with screwdriver in Bengaluru for sacking horse trainer; 3 held

Bengaluru: In a dramatic act of revenge straight out of a thriller, a 47-year-old Mumbai-based businessman was attacked with a screwdriver in the parking lot of a star hotel, following a year-old fallout with his former horse trainer. The injured businessman is Suchit Jayaraj Shah, a resident of Patan Jain Mandal Marg near Marine Drive and a horse-racing enthusiast. He had sacked horse trainer Jasbhir Singh a year ago, allegedly over professional differences. Since then, tensions simmered and Jasbhir is said to have threatened Shah of dire consequences. Shah had checked into the hotel with friend Sameer to attend a horse-racing event at Bengaluru Race Course. Jasbhir, upon learning of Shah's visit, came to Bengaluru with his younger brother Sunny and an aide named Billa and checked into the same hotel. Sunny and Billa got into an argument with Shah and told him to come outside the hotel or they'd kill him. Shah told police they took him to the parking lot where Sunny hit him on the head. When Sameer tried to rescue Shah, Billa grabbed him from behind. Sunny claimed Shah had ruined his (Jasbhir's) reputation. He took out a screwdriver and tried to stab him. Shah collapsed on the ground, and people in the hotel rushed to the spot after hearing his cries for help, police said. While Sunny and Billa escaped from the premises, Shah was taken to a nearby hospital. He later lodged a complaint. Cops swung into action and arrested Jasbhir, Sunny and Billa. The trio claimed Shah deliberately sacked Jasbhir from work and bad-mouthed him. A case has been registered under BNS Sections 109 (attempt to murder). A senior police officer said Shah is out of danger and has returned to Mumbai.

A gang of cyber fraudsters took a 27-year-old chips seller on a six-day all-expenses-paid trip to Chandigarh, gave him ₹ 50,000 in cash, and used his bank account as a mule to route ₹ 1.93 crore siphoned from victims across multiple cities, including Gurugram, police said on Friday. The seller, identified as Sumit Kumar from Narnaul, was arrested on Tuesday. (Representational image) The seller, identified as Sumit Kumar from Narnaul, was arrested on Tuesday during the investigation of an investment fraud case lodged by a Gurugram-based telecom engineer. Police said Sumit's bank account was used to launder funds between May 28 and June 3, during which time the fraudsters kept him entertained at a Chandigarh hotel. The suspect had made Sumit stay at Hotel Greenland in Sector-125, Chandigarh, which has a room rent of upto ₹ 5000 per day. As per police officials, it was for the first time that Sumit was staying in a hotel, that too, outside his hometown and out of excitement, he didn't even care to check what was the hotel name where he was put up. He had the privilege to order the costliest food Chinese and visible in the menu along with different desserts after lunch and dinner besides ordering Indian and foreign liquor via room service. Investigators said that the suspect spent somewhere around ₹ 55,000 on the overall stay at the hotel and food to operate for the cybercrime gang along with paying ₹ 50,000 to Sumit for providing his account access to the gang. Investigators said that ₹ 21.33 lakh out of the ₹ 1.93 crore was part of a ₹ 70.26 lakh sum stolen from a 52-year-old telecom engineer living in Sector 71. The victim, an employee of a Finnish communication device company, was duped between April 22 and June 2 through an investment scam. He registered an FIR at the Cybercrime police station (south) on June 9. As per police, Kumar was on two-day police remand for interrogation till Friday during which he disclosed details of the suspects including the who had accompanied him to Chandigarh. 'He was promised good food, liquor and a nice hotel, and all expenses were taken care of. Once they reached Chandigarh on May 28, Mohit took possession of Sumit's account credentials and phone. Over the next six days, crores were routed through his account, which Mohit and his gang remitted to other accounts,' said Sandeep Kumar, Gurugram police PRO. Sumit was largely kept uninvolved in the details of the scam. 'He enjoyed the trip, unaware of the full scale of the fraud, but complicit in allowing his account to be used,' Kumar said. Upon returning to Mahendragarh, Sumit was paid ₹ 50,000 in cash for 'renting' his account, and Mohit vanished. Police recovered Sumit's phone and two SIM cards linked to the transactions. Raids are on to arrest Mohit and his accomplices.
