Kuwait Automates Work Permit Qualification Checks
This new measure comes after the discovery of fraudulent academic documents submitted by applicants and aims to maintain the integrity of Kuwait's labour market.
Accreditation status
According to a circular issued by Marzouq Al Otaibi, Acting Director General of the Authority, the system will ensure academic credentials and corresponding professions are verified before any work permit is issued.
The verification process covers three key areas: academic degree, field of specialization, and the accreditation status of the qualification based on Ministry of Higher Education standards.
This initiative is part of Kuwait's ongoing efforts to regulate its labor market and ensure that only qualified individuals are granted work permits.

Saudi Arabia welcomed around 116 million domestic and international tourists in 2024, marking a six per cent increase compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Tourism's latest Annual Statistical Report. The growth highlights the Kingdom's rising profile as a global travel destination, supported by its expanding hospitality sector, new attractions, and improved visa policies. To accommodate this surge in visitors, Saudi Arabia offers several types of visit visas depending on nationality, residency, and purpose of travel. Whether you are planning to perform Umrah, reunite with family, explore the country for tourism, or attend business meetings, here is a detailed guide to the visa options available. Travellers from eligible countries can obtain a visa on arrival at Saudi Arabia's airports and land or sea entry points. On arrival, you can either use self-service kiosks or apply directly at the passport control counter. You may qualify for a visa on arrival if you: Hold a valid Schengen, US, or UK visit visa. Are a permanent resident in the US, EU, or UK. For most eligible nationalities, the Saudi eVisa is the most convenient option. Applications can be submitted online through the official eVisa platform. The eVisa is issued electronically and delivered by email once approved. Who can apply for a Saudi eVisa? You may apply if you are: A citizen of an eligible country listed on the Saudi visa platform. A holder of a valid Schengen, US, or UK visit visa. A permanent resident in the US, EU, or UK. A resident in one of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Business – A business visit visa is issued for meetings, conferences, and commercial activities. Applicants require an invitation letter from a Saudi company, outlining the purpose of the visit. Saudi Arabia also issues transit visas for travellers passing through the Kingdom by air, land, or sea. The stopover visa is a special option for passengers flying with Saudia Airlines or Flynas. Kuwait Busts Major Visa Trafficking Ring, Arrests Five Expats
Kuwaiti authorities have arrested five Asian expatriates accused of involvement in a residency visa trafficking network, the Ministry of Interior announced. According to the state-run Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the arrests were carried out by the ministry's General Directorate of Residency. Investigators said the main suspect, an Asian national, was officially registered under a company's residency permit but worked as a representative for multiple firms. He is accused of selling work visas in violation of Kuwaiti law. Authorities allege the man acted as a representative for 19 companies and managed nine of them under agency contracts, with 150 workers registered under those entities. The other suspects told investigators they had paid between 350 and 900 Kuwaiti dinars to renew or transfer residency permits without actually working for any of the suspect's companies. The main suspect admitted the charges, saying he personally processed the transactions using login credentials from the Public Authority for Manpower and the Ministry of Interior, without the knowledge or participation of the companies under whose names the permits were issued. The Ministry of Interior said all those involved have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action. It pledged to continue joint inspections with the Public Authority for Manpower to detect and dismantle visa trafficking operations, warning that violations will be met with full enforcement of the law.
