2025 UFL MVP Power Rankings: Jacob Saylors, Luis Perez headline list after Week 2
Is there anything St. Louis Battlehawks running back Jacob Saylors can't do?
One week after shredding the Houston Roughnecks for 145 yards on 20 total touches, Saylors was at it again in Week 2, tying the UFL single-game rushing record with three touchdowns against the Brahmas.

5. Memphis Showboats WR Jonathan Adams
Week 2 stat line: Nine catches, 128 receiving yards
Week 2 result: 17-12 loss at D.C.
Through the first two weeks of the season, Adams has amassed nearly 100 more receiving yards (221) than the next closest wide receiver in the UFL. Though the Showboats are winless, it's clear that Adams is establishing himself as one of the premier offensive players in the league. The future success of the Showboats might very well depend on how many catches he can snag each week.
4. D.C. Defenders QB Jordan Ta'amu
Week 2 stat line: 12 of 16 passing for 152 passing yards, one passing TD
Week 2 result: 17-12 win against Memphis
Ta'amu has completed less than 50% of his passes but still ranks second in the league in passing yards (363) and is tied for No. 1 in passing TDs. More importantly, the Defenders are 2-0 with wins against USFL Conference opponents Birmingham and Memphis.
3. St. Louis Battlehawks QB Manny Wilkins
Week 2 stat line: 12 of 16 passing for 162 yards, nine rushes for 58 yards
Week 2 result: 26-9 win against San Antonio
The former Arizona State product has proven to be quite efficient in the pocket. Wilkins has completed more than 76% of his passes for 351 yards — third-best in the UFL — and is the only QB with more than 35 pass attempts who has yet to throw an interception.After sitting behind former Alabama QB AJ McCarron last season, Wilkins has taken ownership of the starting job in St. Louis with no signs of relinquishing the job, even with former TCU QB and 2022 national title runner-up Max Duggan in the same QB room.
2. Arlington Renegades QB Luis Perez
Week 2 stat line: 19 of 27 passing for 211 yards with a TD
Week 2 result: 11-9 win vs. Houston
Perez threw for 211 yards in the Renegades' win over the Roughnecks, surpassing his 164 yards from a week ago. He posted a 70% completion rate as he connected on 19 of 27 passes. With that solid performance, Perez has taken over the league-lead in passing yards, completions and completion percentage for a Renegades team that is off to its best start in three years. Perez and the Renegades will see a stern test on Friday when they play the defending UFL champion Birmingham Stallions.

Week 2 stat line: 14 touches for 71 yards with three rushing TDs
Week 2 result: 26-9 win against San Antonio
Saylors tied the UFL single-game record for rushing touchdowns with three against the Brahmas on just 11 rushes. Though he accounted for just 46 yards, one of those plays was an explosive one — a 20-yard scamper into the end zone. Saylors has scored four rushing touchdowns in just two games, accounted for 216 yards from scrimmage, and averages 6.4 yards per touch on a Battlehawks team that is built to run the football. After Week 2, Saylors looks like the best offensive player on the best team in the league.

He'd keep his talents close to home by committing to the University of Texas. As a freshman and sophomore with the Longhorns, Dixon was a lightly used reserve that caught 12 passes for 176 yards. However, one went for a 73-yard touchdown in the Alamo Bowl. At the conclusion of the 2021 campaign, Dixon transferred to Southern Methodist University. In 2022, his first year at SMU, Dixon had 26 receptions for 377 yards and 3 scores. He followed that up with 25 catches for a career-best 441 yards with 4 touchdowns the next year. As a senior, Dixon caught 21 balls for 386 yards for the Mustangs. He had only one score, but it was an 87-yard touchdown against Stanford. Over his three years with SMU, Dixon averaged nearly 17 yards per reception. The Saints signed Dixon after he was not selected in the draft this spring. A thinly built receiver, there is some question how effective Dixon will be in heavy traffic or against physical NFL defensive backs. However, he displayed excellent speed and big-play ability throughout his college career. At pre-draft workouts, Dixon turned in an impressive 40 time of 4.38 seconds. Moochie Dixon has his hands full to make the New Orleans roster. The Saints already have three explosive playmakers in Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and Brandin Cooks along with up-and-coming second-year wideout Bub Means and veteran Donovan Peoples-Jones. Dixon will also have competition from fellow undrafted playmaker Chris Tyree. This is not to rule him out. The Saints have struck gold with undrafted wideouts several times. With a strong camp and preseason, Dixon could possibly add his name to that list.

Shohei Ohtani snaps long ball drought with two dingers, now has 250 career homers
LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani had never gone 10 games without hitting a homer for the Los Angeles Dodgers until this month. The three-time MVP ended his drought Saturday night — and then started making up for lost time. Advertisement Ohtani hit two homers against the Giants, emphatically reaching 25 homers for the fifth consecutive season during Los Angeles' 11-5 victory over San Francisco. He also now has 250 career homers. Ohtani led off the game with his 24th, hammering Landen Roupp's fourth pitch 419 feet deep into the right-field bleachers with an exit velocity of 110.3 mph. Advertisement The slugger had gone 10 for 40 with no RBIs since his most recent homer June 2 — although he still had an eight-game hitting streak during his power outage. 'It did feel like I hadn't hit a homer in a while,' Ohtani said through his interpreter. 'In terms of the context of the two homers, I think the first homer was more significant, just being able to score early in the game.' Ohtani then led off the sixth with his 25th homer, sending Tristan Beck's breaking ball outside the strike zone into the bleachers in right. He has hit at least 34 homers and driven in at least 95 runs in the past four consecutive seasons. While his OPS (1.023) is nearly identical to last year's effort, Ohtani is behind the pace in several statistical categories compared to last season, when he became the first player to record 50 homers and 50 stolen bases before the Dodgers won his first World Series title. 'The live BP is really an important part of the progression,' Ohtani said. 'The intensity is different, so how that feels to my body is going to be different as well, but it's something that I do have to go through to make sure that my body feels right.' Ohtani remains firmly committed to resuming his career as a pitcher. 'I do feel like just being the two-way player that I used to be was the norm,' Ohtani said when asked if his two-way work this season is tough on him. 'So last year really was the abnormal year. For me, it's just about getting back to what I used to do.'

LOS ANGELES -- Shohei Ohtani hit two homers and Clayton Kershaw pitched seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 11-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night. Ohtani led off with his 24th homer, ending a 10-game homer drought — his longest since joining the Dodgers last season. The three-time MVP added another solo shot in the sixth for his third multi-homer game of the season and the 22nd of his career. The 37-year-old Kershaw (2-0) gave a vintage performance in the sixth and best start of his 18th major league season. The lefty needed just 81 pitches to finish seven innings. Casey Schmitt hit a grand slam in his second straight game for San Francisco, connecting off Dodgers utilityman Kiké Hernández during the Giants' five-run ninth inning. Hernández recorded his first career strikeout when he caught Christian Koss looking, but he also allowed five runs on three hits and three walks while Los Angeles attempted to save its bullpen. Anthony Banda had to come on to get the final out. Mookie Betts had a two-run double during a five-run second inning for the Dodgers, who rebounded after the Giants pulled even with Los Angeles atop the NL West standings Friday night with a 6-2 victory. Landen Roupp (4-5) gave up six runs on four hits and five walks while failing to escape the second inning in the shortest start of his career. Teoscar Hernández added a two-run homer in the sixth and Miguel Rojas homered in the eighth. After Roupp walked two leading off the second, Andy Pages and Michael Conforto drove them in.
