US Open 2025: What's the weather forecast for the second round at Oakmont Country Club?

The first round of the U.S. Open was played under sunny skies and no rain at the Oakmont Country Club on June 12. The field might not be as lucky for the second round. The weather forecast calls for more of a rain chance, especially between Noon and 5 p.m. According to The first round of the U.S. Open at the Oakmont Country Club on June 12 was in near-perfect weather conditions. It might be different for the second round on June 13. The forecast for the day is for a high of 81 degrees and a low of 66, with a 48 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Hourly forecast for Oakmont Country Club on June 13 Here is the hourly forecast for key times during the second round: Advertisement 7 a.m. (first groups have teed off): Mostly cloudy, 66 degrees, 17 percent chance of rain, wind ENE 3 mph. 12 p.m. (afternoon wave begins): Isolated thunderstorms, 79 degrees, 32 percent chance of rain, wind ENE 4 mph 4 p.m.: Scattered thundershowers, 79 degrees, 41 percent chance of rain, wind E 5 mph. 6 p.m.: Cloudy, 77 degrees, 15 percent chance of rain, wind ESE 5 mph What happens if it rains at the US Open? If a weather system contains only rain, USGA officials will keep playing unless it gets heavy enough to create pools of water on the fairway and greens. A system that contains lightning is a more serious matter. Like any activity conducted outdoors, there is equipment that monitors lightning strikes and if one occurs within a certain distance of the course (generally from 7-10 miles away), play will be stopped and the course will be evacuated. Advertisement The USGA and all governing bodies of golf upgraded their lightning detection systems and protocols since 1991, when a strike at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., injured five people and killed one spectator while they were huddled under a tree on the 16th fairway. Finally, mercifully, the Aaron Rodgers free agency saga has come to an end. The 41-year-old quarterback signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, and by Tuesday, he was slinging passes around the field at minicamp. He also met with the media for the first time since deciding to wear the black and gold, explaining why it took him so long to make a decision, revealing that he had gotten married and sharing his goal of bringing a seventh championship to Steel City. Advertisement If you thought this move would strike fear in the hearts of the AFC North, however, you'd be wrong, at least when it came to one rival player, who offered a smirking, snarky response to the news. That bit of fun is included in this week's quiz, but we promise you won't be facing a slew of Aaron Rodgers questions. We'll also touch on the French Open, the NBA and NHL playoffs, one of the most epic home-run robberies we've ever seen and more across the sports world.
