(9) DANCING ON A CLOUD was an impressive maiden winner last time. He faces stronger rivals but is capable of improving further.
(12) TERMINATOR has a wide draw to contend with but his last win was over the course and distance. Expect a bold showing from him.
(1) DAPPER is running over a more suitable trip and has the best draw.
(10) THE WOLF won a good race on the Poly last run and stays the trip. The form can hold up.

(1) ICY BLAST has tumbled down the handicap when contesting sprints. Last time, he was drawn widest and now jumps from a more favourable gate.
(7) SUNDANCE KID went close last time. The form has been franked in feature company, so a repeat should see him in the firing line.
(5) JP'S PALACE's last win was on this course and he is progressive.
(4) PLAZA ACCORD is unbeaten in two runs since returning from a lengthy break.

(2) KHETHIWE'S DESTINY is smart and has her third run after a lengthy break. She could prove too classy for her male rivals.
(5) RIVERSTONE comes with solid Cape form over the trip. If fit and well, he will make his presence felt.
(4) AGRADO won well last time. He took a six-point rise in the handicap but can benefit from Rachel Venniker's allowance.

Ancelotti, who guided the Spanish giants to several titles alongside the Brazilian forward, including two Champions League triumphs and two La Liga crowns, said that the player's unique ability to unsettle opposing defences made him a vital asset. 'I don't know if he's been at his best here, but he has time to do what he does at Real Madrid,' he said ahead of Brazil's World Cup qualifying match against Ecuador on June 5 (June 6, Singapore time) – his first match in charge of the national team. 'For us, he's a fundamental player. We have to work to ensure he performs at his best here.' Vinicius made his World Cup debut in Qatar in 2022 and has been a regular during their qualifying campaign for the 2026 tournament. However, he has struggled for form with the national team, falling short of his usual standards at Real. Regarding his tactical approach, Ancelotti stated that he aims to field a compact, balanced team. 'I don't want a team with a clear identity. We have to defend well, whether it's 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. We have to defend together and use creativity with the ball,' the Italian said. 'Individual quality is not enough today; you have to combine it with attitude, drive and commitment.' Five challenges Carlo Ancelotti faces as Brazil reign kicks off

EPA-EFE SAO PAULO – After a warm welcome to Brazil, Carlo Ancelotti is on a mission to fix a stuttering team and win back fans which starts on June 5 against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier. Here are five issues that the Italian will face. 1. Qualify! 'The only goal is to win the 2026 World Cup,' said Ancelotti when he took the job. First he has to get there. The South American group is a two-year, 18-match marathon. Brazil's campaign has included a first-ever home World Cup qualifying defeat, 1-0 at the Maracana to old enemy Argentina, part of a run of three straight defeats in 2023 that ended the coaching reign of Fernando Diniz. Their last match was a 4-1 humiliation in Argentina in March that finished off former coach Dorival Junior. Yet the format is forgiving. The top six in the 10-team group qualify directly for the World Cup. Brazil are fourth, six points clear of Venezuela in seventh with four matches to go. Ecuador may be second in the group, but are only two points ahead of Brazil, who then host Paraguay, who are fifth. Qualifying ends in September with a visit to last-place Chile and a home game against struggling Bolivia. 2. Find a centre forward Brazil are still churning out dazzling attackers but the production line has stalled on No. 9s. In this century, Romario, Ronaldo and Adriano have all led the attack and banged in the goals. The nearest player to a classic No. 9 in Ancelotti's first squad is a player he coached at Everton, Richarlison, now of Tottenham. Yet Ancelotti has won without a central striker before. His 2024 Champions League winning side was led by two Brazilians – Vinicius Jr, who is in Ancelotti's squad, and Rodrygo, whom he did not select. Sort out the midfield A bigger problem might be supplying the attackers, veteran Brazilian football journalist Juca Kfouri said. With Brazil's youth academies focusing on defensive midfielders and quick wingers rather than classic creators, the Selecao faces a shortage of ideas in midfield. In Brazil's last two outings, Dorival Junior tried Bruno Guimaraes, Gerson, Andre and Joelinton in the role. None convinced. At Real, Ancelotti 'had Toni Kroos as a supply line for Vini. Brazil does not have a Toni Kroos', said sports writer Tim Vickery on his 'Brazilian Shirt Name' podcast. Ancelotti has recalled Kroos' former Real midfield partner Casemiro, although the 33-year-old now with Manchester United is primarily a defensive player to add, the coach said, 'charisma, personality and talent'. 4. Find full-backs The supply of swashbuckling fullbacks, such as Carlos Alberto, Cafu and Roberto Carlos – another hallmark of great Brazil teams – has also dried up. Ancelotti has recalled Carlos Augusto, part of the Inter Milan team crushed in the Champions League final, and picked Flamengo duo Wesley Franca and Alex Sandro after seeing them play last week in a 1-0 victory over Venezuelan team Deportivo Tachira in the Copa Libertadores. 5. Win back the fans Ancelotti needs to rebuild the bond between the team and the public. Part of the problem is that after Brazil won five World Cups playing – mostly – the 'jogo bonito' (the beautiful game), fans have little patience with mediocrity. Many supporters have also been turned off by the way the famous yellow jersey has been hijacked as a symbol by supporters of far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro. 'This issue of the extreme right appropriating the jersey has distanced part of the country,' said Kfouri, adding Ancelotti called on the fans when he took the job saying, 'I hope to have the support and help of the country.' Real Madrid pay fee to sign Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool before Club World Cup
Real Madrid have signed Trent Alexander-Arnold on a six-year deal, the LaLiga club said on Friday, paying Liverpool a fee to release the England defender from his contract a month early to allow him to join before the Club World Cup. Alexander-Arnold, who joined Liverpool when he was six and made 354 appearances for the Premier League side since his senior debut in 2016, said earlier this month he would leave the club once his contract expired on June 30. Born in Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold rose through the youth ranks to become one of the best right backs in the world, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup with the English team. The 26-year-old frequently played in a hybrid midfield role for Liverpool in recent seasons, operating as a full back when out of possession but moving into midfield during attacks. The Liverpool-born player bid a tearful farewell to his boyhood club as he collected his second Premier League winner's medal on Sunday, having also helped the club previously win the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Club World Cup. "Alexander-Arnold leaves Liverpool FC with the club appreciative and grateful for his contribution to those successes," Liverpool added. He joins England teammate Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid, a club that has signed famous Englishmen in the past like Steve McManaman, David Beckham and Michael Owen.
