A joint- funeral for Jota, 28, and his brother André Silva, 25, was held at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar church after the devastating crash.
Portugal's head coach Roberto Martinez spoke after the ceremony and described how the days since their tragic deaths had been 'really, really sad' but the funeral today showed 'we are a very large, close family'.
Martinez went on to say it was 'essential' for Portugal to show 'we are together,' adding the brothers' spirits will be 'with us forever'.
He said: 'So thank you very much for your messages and for your support and everything that we receive [from] all over the world.
'Today we are all one football family.'
Liverpool manager Arne Slot was there with his players - including Reds stars Joe Gomez, Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister.
Former teammates Jordan Henderson and James Milner were also in attendance.
Some of Jota's international teammates present at the ceremony were Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Chelsea's Joao Felix and Manchester City's Bernardo Silva.
A huge crowd of mourners gathered outside the church and showed support for the brothers' friends, family, coaches and teammates as they walked in procession.
The service was private but a live audio feed was played outside the church.
Addressing Jota's children, who were not at the service, as well as their mother and grandparents, the Gondomar priest was heard saying in the broadcast: "There are no words, but there are feelings.
"We also suffer a lot and we are with you emotionally."
Jota, along with brother André, died when his hired acid green £210,000 Lamborghini supercar suffered a suspected tyre blowout and crashed in a fireball on the A52 highway in Zamora province, northern Spain.
The brothers were en route to the Spanish port city of Santander to catch a ferry to the UK after the Portugal star was urged not to travel by plane following lung surgery.
Tributes have flooded in since the horrific news, including from Jota's Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and current Reds boss Arne Slot.

Transfer news LIVE: Eze chooses Arsenal FC; Man Utd in Baleba push; Isak to Liverpool; Donnarumma latest

With the new Premier League season now just a day away, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all working hard on deals before the big kick-off. Manchester City, though, could be the next club making a splash in the window as they look to shuffle their goalkeeper union, with Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma newly on the market. He could be available for a bargain fee of just £26m, though his six-figure wages may prove a stumbling block.

Liverpool transfer news: Arne Slot '24 hours from deal' amid Alexander Isak stand-off

Liverpool are yet to return with a second offer for Alexander Isak after Newcastle rejected a bid of £120million - but the Reds are getting on with other business instead Liverpool have been extremely busy in the summer transfer window and are showing no signs of slowing down. ‌ Arne Slot's side have splashed over £300million to sign Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman. They have seen a £120m bid rejected by Newcastle for Alexander Isak, but the saga continues to rumble on. ‌ Isak is still desperately holding out for his dream move to Anfield and is refusing to play for the Magpies. But for now he is not the priority for Liverpool, who have their eye on signing two defenders. ‌ Both Slot and Virgil van Dijk identified the defence as the weakest aspect of the side after their defeat on penalties by Crystal Palace in the Community Shield. And the club has wasted no time in acting upon those worries. Here are the latest transfer news stories. Reds wrapping up Leoni deal Liverpool have wasted no time in pursuing Parma defender Giovanni Leoni and could have a deal wrapped up within 24 hours, according to talkSPORT. Mirror Football reported on Tuesday that the Reds wanted to sign Leoni and Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. And they have raced through negotiations and will sign the Italian for a fee in the region of £30million. The 18-year-old centre-back is under contract with Parma until June 2029 but is keen to move to Anfield. Liverpool have received a glowing endorsement from Arrigo Sacchi. 'We'll see if the deal goes through, but in any case, I'd say the Reds would be making a great move by signing this young man, whom I followed with interest and curiosity in the second half of last season,' the legendary manager wrote in Gazzetta Dello Sport. 'I'm convinced he'll be the lynchpin of the Azzurri defence for a long time.' Glasner's Guehi stance Liverpool have also opened talks to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after facing them in the Community Shield. The England star's contract expires next summer, leaving Palace in a difficult position. ‌ Nevertheless, the Guardian have reported that manager Oliver Glasner wants Guehi to stay for another season at Palace, even if that means losing him for free next summer. Liverpool are attempting to land him for a fee between £30m and £35m, but Guehi is happy to stay put if his side's £40m valuation isn't met. ‌ Liverpool to keep Konate The summer at Liverpool started with reports of Ibrahima Konate's unhappiness after the club offered him a new contract. Konate was reportedly upset with the offer, which did not value him as highly as others in the squad. He has been linked with Real Madrid frequently, but Liverpool have pushed back on those reports. The Reds sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the window while Nat Phillips also departed for West Brom, leaving Joe Gomez as the most senior back up to Konate and Van Dijk, but he is currently injured. Despite signing Leoni and Guehi, Liverpool want to keep Konate, who they see as crucial to their chances of defending their Premier League title. Wayne Rooney sends message to Liverpool over Alexander Isak transfer

Wayne Rooney has told Liverpool that signing Alexander Isak before the transfer deadline would make them 'unstoppable'. Liverpool's opening bid for Isak, worth £110m, was rejected by Newcastle United, who continue to insist the striker will not be sold. But Newcastle may be forced to soften their stance after Isak threatened to go on strike in order to force through a move to Liverpool. Isak is desperate to join the Premier League champions before the summer transfer window closes and is seemingly prepared to at least partly ruin his Newcastle legacy in order to force the move through. Manchester United and England legend Rooney already rates Liverpool as the 'favourites' to win the Premier League this season but says the signing of Isak would make Arne Slot's side 'unstoppable'. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. 'I already have Liverpool as the favourites to win the title this year but if Isak comes in, I think they're going to be unstoppable,' he said on BBC's Match of the Day. 'Look at the quality they've got. 'I think a big thing for Liverpool this summer was replacing Trent [Alexander-Arnold] because he created a lot of chances and goals down that side. [Jeremie] Frimpong has got the attributes to do that. 'So yeah, Liverpool look strong.' Liverpool have already spent around £250m on new signings this summer, bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Frimpong. More Trending Slot's side finished ten points clear of second-placed Arsenal last season and begin their title defence on Friday night against Bournemouth. While the temptation to join Liverpool is clear to see, Isak has handled his transfer situation 'so badly', according to ex-Newcastle boss Alan Pardew. 'The problem is, he's handled it so badly. He couldn't have handled it any worse,' Pardew told talkSPORT. 'His agents and advisors have said to him to throw down the tools after serving that great football club, and he's doing really bad things to hold them to ransom and more or less force a way out.'
