Mike White Is Going on ‘Survivor 50' Because It's 'What I Have to Do to Get a Vacation These Days'
White — who previously competed on the show in 2018 during its 'David vs. Goliath' season, coming in second place — said via video message that he was on his way to 'a hotel near the airport where I have to turn in my phone and stay the night before I fly to Fiji, because I don't know if you know this but I'm going on Survivor. So by the time you see this I will either be out of the game or I'll be starving on an island somewhere — either way, I hope you send me good wishes.'

He also sent his thanks to the audience for showing up to support the show and to his cast, who he hopes to see 'on the flip side. And yeah, I'm sorry I couldn't be there but this is what I have to do to get a vacation these days. Duty calls.'
During the main event, the super-sized cast was split into two panels, both moderated by Hacks' Paul W. Downs. The first featured Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook, as Downs teased, 'In the four years The White Lotus has been on the air, it has spanned three continents and four HBO names — pretty remarkable stuff.'
The cast talked about their collaborations with White and fears going into the show, as Isaacs noted he was worried that his pill-popping head of the Ratliff family 'might just sit there in the corner and look like an extra from Cheech & Chong. I'm chugging these pills — I know what's gonna be going on inside my head, I'll think it all and I'll feel it all, but I just don't know if the audience gonna get any of it.'
It was also revealed that Posey and Bibb still haven't watched the show, as the group weighed in on how their lives have changed since the third season premiered. 'I really have to think about what I'm wearing and what I'm saying in public,' Coon said, noting, 'Now when I go to the grocery store, people will be like, 'Great job last night.' I was like, oh no, that's not happened to me before. [But] it peaks when the show is on, then it kind of goes down — for me, maybe not for Parker.'
Nivola said he's enjoying the perks of now 'every time I get Thai food, free mango sticky rice,' as Coon admitted, 'My parents still haven't mentioned it. I think they watched it, but they haven't said anything.'
Natasha Rothwell, Sam Rockwell, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Tayme Thapthimthong took part in the second panel, with Rockwell and Goggins breaking down their scenes together.
'Was he on drugs when he wrote that?' Rockwell teased of White writing his character's wild monologue, as well as the 'extraordinary thing to act with a close friend' when it came to his longtime relationship with Goggins.
'I didn't want to let Sam down. This is my hero. I got Bob Duvall, I got like Tommy Lee Jones, I got Chris Cooper and I got Sam Rockwell,' Goggins told the crowd, as Rockwell took out his wallet and threw him a few bucks. Goggins then realized it was only $3 and joked, 'You think I'm that cheap?!'
Goggins also explained that his interpretation of his character Rick's 'parable is in the depths of our despair, there's always beauty around us, always. And I think about that in my own life, I think that's what's changed me most — all of these people in Thailand and getting to work with Mike White, but that reminder that, like fuck, I can't deal with what's going on in my life right now. Yeah, you can, man, just focus on what's beautiful in your life. And it was one of the greatest rides of my life.'

James Gunn Teases the Future of John Cena's PEACEMAKER in the DCU — GeekTyrant
James Gunn's first phase of the DCU has always included John Cena's Peacemaker, but as we are still ahead of the character's second season in his series, we don't exactly know what the future holds for him. Season 2 of Peacemaker will debut this week, and run through the beginning of October, and Gunn has been very tight-lipped about what the final few episodes will entail. When asked by ExtraTV (via CBM) about the broader direction of the DCU, James Gunn teased that Season 2 of Peacemaker will provide plenty of answers. "I think you're going to find out a lot, this season of Peacemaker. This is a direct follow-up to Superman, although it should be said, it's not for kids, it's for adults. We kind of see where the DC Universe is going and we find out about where it's heading from here. By the end of the season, there's a lot of surprises." In a separate interview, Gunn previously teased that episodes 6-8 of the series contain huge surprises and that he intentionally left those episodes off of advance screener copies sent out to the media. As to whether Season 2 is the last season of Peacemaker , Gunn all but confirmed that Cena's antihero will be seen again in a fourth project. Whether that's a third season of the show or something else remains to be seen, saying, "We call it the Tighty-Whities Trilogy- between The Suicide Squad , Peacemaker Season 1, and Peacemaker Season 2. Are we going to make it a quadrilogy? Probably, we'll see..." "In Season 2, Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands." James Gunn wrote all 8 episodes and directed 3, including the premiere. The second season reunites John Cena with key members of the season 1 cast, including Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), and Steve Agee (John Economos), as the series gears up for a major expansion within the new DC Universe. This time around, the story will branch out beyond Peacemaker's tight-knit team, with Frank Grillo stepping in as Rick Flag Sr., a character who serves as the connective tissue to Superman, Creature Commandos, and future DCU chapters. Several additional familiar faces from Superman are also set to appear, including Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Sean Gunn reprising his role as the Justice Gang financier Maxwell Lord. Fans will also be introduced to a brand-new character, Red St. Wild, portrayed by Michael Rooker. Peacemaker episode one drops this week on August 21st on HBO/Max.

Alicia Silverstone Recalled Kissing Her 30-Year-Old Costar When She Was Just 15 As She Reflected On Shooting This Controversial ‘90s Film
Back in 1993, Alicia Silverstone made her film debut in Alan Shapiro's thriller The Crush. Alicia, who was 15 when she shot the movie, starred as protagonist Adrian Forrester — a teenage girl who has a dangerous obsession with writer Nick Eliot, played by then-30-year-old Cary Elwes. In recent years, the film has been described as 'controversial' due to its subject matter. Related: This week, while reflecting on some of her iconic roles from the '90s in a video with Entertainment Weekly, Alicia recalled what it was like kissing Cary in the film. "I thought Cary always was my boyfriend, for sure, because he kissed me. I had to kiss the guy from The Princess Bride! I just remember that, when I was little... But he's a lot older than me," she shared. Related: 'We had this kiss in the film and, because I was young — I think I was 15 — I thought that that meant he was my boyfriend now! Not really, but a little bit. I went to his trailer and asked him if that was OK, and he was so kind,' she detailed. Alicia went on to recall feeling somewhat possessive over Cary when his wife, Lisa Marie Kubikoff, took photos of the two of them on set. 'Lisa Marie, his wife, sent me pictures from back in the day where we're laying together, and I'm looking at her while she's taking the picture like, 'This is my man,'' she said. Related: Alicia clarified that Cary was incredibly 'sweet' and took great care of her on set. 'He was a really good big brother to me and took care. He was so lovely. We had a very professional relationship, and he was very big-brother-like to me, and very sweet and kind. It was just a great job. What a great part to play. It was so fun,' she said. Taylor Swift has a purple countdown on her website — what fans think it means for 'The Life of a Showgirl'
The new album is set for release on Oct. 3. Oh, Taylor Swift, what are you up to now?! The pop star is teasing fans yet again with a countdown on her website — but instead of the orange-and-green color scheme she's currently using to promote her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift's latest countdown is purple. The countdown appeared on Aug. 18 and is slated to end at 2 p.m. ET Monday. The website features a ticking clock alongside a glittery purple background, and the whole rest of the website is currently shut down — meaning there's no way to purchase merch right now. Swift's website isn't the only place purple is being used to promote whatever this upcoming announcement is. If you type 'Taylor Swift' into Google, purple confetti rains down on the screen. A red fiery heart emoji also appears, with a purple text block that reads 'And, baby, that's show business for you.' This is the same thing that happened with Google ahead of Swift's Life of a Showgirl album announcement; however, now the orange is swapped out for purple. And, if you go on Swift's Apple Music page, the image also features glittery purple. Obviously, fans online are freaking out about what all this purple could mean. Some are certain that it's a merch drop for The Life of a Showgirl, since merch sales are currently disabled. Some are hopeful that this purple moment could signal the release of Swift's first single off the album. Others, however, have bigger aspirations: some believe that this countdown could end with the reveal that The Life of a Showgirl is actually a double album, with the second album featuring a purple color scheme. As TikToker Britton Rae said in a video about the countdown, Swift's latest antics are making her feel 'a little bit delulu,' aka 'delusional' and convinced that another album is coming — especially given the fact that Swift officially announced Showgirl at exactly 12:12 a.m. on Aug. 12. 'She was very adamant that this album only had 12 tracks on it,' the TikToker said, pointing to Swift's New Heights interview with boyfriend Travis Kelce. 'What if there's another album that also has 12 tracks on it, and that's why we've done the 12:12?' Others, however, are convinced this countdown could lead to an Eras Tour documentary. One TikToker pointed out in a video that this purple glitter 'could maybe lead to the behind-the-scenes of the Eras Tour, since The Life of a Showgirl is 'behind the curtain'.' The TikToker also noted that Swift recorded unseen footage from her final three shows of the Eras Tour in Vancouver. Whatever happens, Swift certainly has plenty of surprises in store for fans.
