Keith Hernandez had no idea how to react to ED medication ad read: ‘What did you mean by that?'
Mets announcer Gary Cohen does plenty of in-game ad reads, but this one left Keith Hernandez beyond confused.
Ahead of the top of the eighth inning in Saturday's Mets win over the Rockies that aired on WPIX, Cohen did an ad read for BlueChew, a medication for erectile dysfunction, in which he told viewers to 'chew it and do it.'
Hernandez was left perplexed by Cohen's statement, asking him the meaning behind it after a brief pause.

Keith Hernandez: "What did you mean by that?"
Gary Cohen: "I just read the copy here. I try to give it a good read. Try and give the advertiser everything that they paid for, Keith. And then it's somebody else's problem." #MLB pic.twitter.com/yWaarcYBQP — Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) May 31, 2025
'What did you mean by that?' Hernandez said.
Cohen responded by saying he was simply reading what was given to him.

During the ninth inning of the 4-2 loss on May 1, Mets reliever Ty Adcock threw a pitch that clearly hit the bat of Arizona third baseman Eugenio Suarez and landed in catcher Luis Torrens' glove, but umpire John Bacon called the pitch a ball, which left the announcers mortified.

'John Bacon does not seem to know the difference between a ball hitting a bat and a bat hitting a glove,' Cohen said. 'That was clear a foul tip for strike three. … I mean, what's going on, Keith?'
'Two series in a row just el stinko,' Hernandez replied.

Baltimore Orioles hope for a spark after reinstating Colton Cowser from the injured list
The Baltimore Orioles reinstated Colton Cowser from the 60-day injured list Monday, bringing back the outfielder before a six-game road trip out West. Baltimore was off Monday before facing the Mariners and Athletics on this trip. The last-place Orioles are coming off a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox. Cowser has been out with a broken left thumb. He hasn't played since March 30. In four games, he has gone 2-for-16 with one home run. Baltimore designated utilityman Cooper Hummel for assignment. Cowser hit 24 home runs last season, finishing second in the American League rookie of the year vote. Return of a Gold Glove finalist Without Cowser in the field, the Baltimore Orioles' defense was 22nd with 33 errors. The outfielders alone -- between Ramon Laureano, Cedric Mullins, Tyler O'Neill, and Heston Kjerstad have combined for five errors. Cowser can play each position in the outfield. He was a Gold Glove finalist last season. In 2024, he ranked second among left fielders with Outs Above Average (OAA), according to MLB statistics. Orioles look for an offensive spark Baltimore fans hope Cowser will bring a spark to the offense, which has struggled at times this season, especially with runners in scoring position. The Orioles are 23rd with a .237 team batting average, 25th with 222 runs scored, eighth with 513 strikeouts, and 25th with a .302 on-base percentage. The Orioles (22-36) are in last place in the American League East, 14 games behind the leading New York Yankees. They are also nine back of a wild card spot. However, they have won 6 of their last 10 games.

Phillies' Andrew Painter Speculated to Make MLB Debut After All-Star Break
Phillies' Andrew Painter Speculated to Make MLB Debut After All-Star Break originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies have one of the most anticipated Major League debuts on the horizon. With Andrew Painter continuing to get work in the Minor Leagues, the date for his MLB debut gradually gets closer. But, there has been no set date for his debut on the mound. Advertisement However, in a recent article from Paul Casella on from his Phillies Beat newsletter, an updated timeline was given along with Casella's speculation on the specific series in which Painter will make his debut. Casella writes, "The plan has always been for Painter to make his MLB debut in 'July-ish.' Thomson may have provided a bit more clarity recently on when exactly we might see Painter in the big leagues." "While the situation remains fluid," Casella continued, "Thomson indicated that the club plans to use the all-Star break to let Painter rest and recharge." The Phillies' plan for July has been known for some time. But Rob Thomson and the Phillies haven't given a specific time in July when Painter would get the call. Advertisement But, Casella believes that the All-Star break, which runs from July 14th to the 17th, is the sign that Painter's window to get called up has started. He sees the Phillies calling up Painter in one of the two series immediately following the All-Star break. Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Andrew Painter (76) during photo day at BayCare Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images While nothing has been set in stone yet, the date after the All-Star break is a reasonable speculation given the Phillies' current situation. With Aaron Nola on the injured list and Taijuan Walker moving back to the bullpen, there is room for Painter. But, Mick Abel is getting called back up to the big leagues for his second go as a Phillies starter. His performance could provide more clarity on when Painter receives the call to the big leagues. Advertisement If Abel performs well, the Phillies might slow-play Painter's MLB debut. But if Abel struggles, the Phillies could feel the pressure and call up Painter earlier than the anticipated July series after the All-Star break. The Phillies play two series at home following the All-Star break, a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels and a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. With Casella's report, Painter's debut will possibly fall during either of those two series. The Phillies face the New York Yankees in New York in the next series, so the Phillies might have Painter pitch later in the homestead to avoid a tough second matchup for the top Phillies prospect. Casella's report provides some clarity on when Painter could make his highly anticipated MLB debut.
