Frutas de Chile Launches a Health Focused Campaign in India to Promote Kiwifruit from Chile

HT Syndication
New Delhi [India], June 17: Chile is globally recognised for its premium-quality produce, thanks to its unique climate and geographical diversity. Among its celebrated exports, Chilean Kiwifruit stands out not only for its exceptional taste but also for its powerful nutritional benefits.
To raise awareness about the health advantages of this superfruit and establish a deeper connection with Indian consumers, Frutas de Chile has launched a dedicated promotional campaign across India, 'The Power of Vitamin C, Fresh from Chile!' celebrating both taste and nutrition of Chilean kiwifruits.
Known as one of the most nutrient-dense fruits, Chilean Kiwi is a powerhouse of essential vitamins and minerals. It is especially rich in vitamin C, dietary fiber, actinidin, potassium, and folate. Just one serving provides a remarkable 117% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C and 21% of dietary fiber. It is also a good source of potassium and vitamin E, making it a smart and wholesome addition to daily diets.
Talking about the health benefits, Rima Rao, dietitian and nutritionist, said "Chilean kiwi is a smart choice for those looking to support digestive health naturally. Its rich fiber content and the enzyme actinidin help improve digestion, support gut health, and may even aid in better blood sugar regulation."
"One bite of a ripe Chilean kiwi gives you more vitamin C than an orange and more potassium than a banana, that's nature's multivitamin!" added Rao.
Carlos Cruzat, President of the Chilean Kiwifruit Committee said "We are truly delighted with the overwhelming response to Chilean Kiwifruit in India. Health-conscious Indian consumers have embraced the fruit for its exceptional quality, great taste, and nutritional value. Our campaign is focused on deepening this connection and bringing the fruit closer to consumers across the country."
Sumit Saran, In-Country Market Representative of Chilean Kiwis, said, "Consumers in India are constantly looking for fruits that builds their immunity. Through various activities and campaigns, we aim to increase awareness about health, taste and versatility of Chilean kiwifruits. Chile, a country in South America is one of the largest producers of premium kiwifruits in the world.'
"With strong support from our trade and retail partners, we're making Chilean Kiwifruit available in more cities across the country. And with Chile's preferential trade agreement with India, it's also become more affordable for Indian consumers, added Cruzat."
Chilean Kiwifruits will be widely available across India for the next three months. Consumers can easily purchase them from local fruit stores or online through leading e-commerce and q-commerce platforms.

Torrent Pharma keen to break into big league

Ahmedabad-based Torrent Pharma is revving up for acquisitions in India as part of its plans to break into the top three drugmakers over a span of three to five years. Currently at seventh position by market share, Torrent has dramatically scaled up its India operations over the last five years with bolt-on deals for leading brands and small companies. For FY25, Torrent had sales of Rs 11,516 crore, of which India contributed Rs 6,393 crore. In the first media interaction following the announcement of his new role starting August 1, Aman Mehta , managing director-designate at Torrent Pharma, told ET that the commitment to the Indian market remains as strong as ever. "To be in the top three looks to be an ambitious but realistic goal," he said. "Even with some of the structural changes that are happening or have happened in the recent years, we believe that the inherent demand of the Indian pharma market is not going to change." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villa For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas in Dubai | Search ads Learn More Undo His confidence stems from a consistent growth in the Indian market compared to those like US or Europe that have been under pressure due to regulatory challenges and a headlong drop in prices of generic drugs. On a 12-month moving annual total (MAT) basis, the Indian pharma market has grown at 7.2% to Rs 2.29 lakh crore ($26.7 billion) in May. That growth is led by a mix of drugs for cardiac issues, gastrointestinal products, anti-infectives, anti-diabetes, vitamins and respiratory issues. But for Torrent, the task to take the third rank will be a tough one. Torrent must have a faster growth rate to topple giants such as Cipla , Alkem and Intas Pharma. Sun Pharma and Abbott lead the stack as the top two in the Indian market. Live Events Torrent's deals-led growth strategy is already in play. In 2022, the company shelled out Rs 2,000 crore for private equity-backed Curatio Healthcare, makers of popular cosmetic dermatology brands. More recently in December, it lapped up a set of new generation medicines to treat diabetes from German drug maker Boehringer Ingelheim. A year later in 2023, Torrent came close to buying Cipla for an audacious $7 billion deal. Although it could not be officially confirmed, the talks failed on valuation mismatch. Torrent was also named as a frontrunner to acquire a majority stake in JB Pharma from private equity firm KKR, but that deal was also called off, at least temporarily. Mehta, who has steered most deal discussions for Torrent, says the company is at a stronger position to invest further and grow business. Sheetal Sapale, VP, PharmaTrac, a data intelligence firm that tracks medicine sales, said Torrent Pharma's revenue has grown 1.6x in the last five years, with cardiac treatments making up over a fourth of its domestic sales. She added that strategic acquisitions have helped Torrent consolidate its position in pain drugs, gastrointestinal medicines and skin care range. In the last four years, Torrent has expanded its field force. From 3,600, that may now double to 7,000 medical representatives this year, which Mehta called "methodical expansion for better territorial reach".

Yoga Village at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam turns a beehive of activity

Girls and boys, in different uniforms, were moving anxiously from one block to another at the Yoga Village on the Beach Road on Tuesday. Their worry was whether they would get an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the D-day on June 21. The Yoga Village on the Beach Road witnessed a beehive of activity as students of various affiliated colleges of Andhra University thronged in batches to demonstrate their skills before the yoga gurus on Tuesday. They were trained by Master Trainers from the Department of Yoga & Consciousness, Andhra University. The Principals and faculty members were seen pleading with K. Ramesh Babu, Head of the Department, to check whether the names of their students, who had undergone training, were included in the list of trainers. Prof. Ramesh Babu told them that the list has already been uploaded on the official website. The students, who came in batches from their respective colleges, gathered in the shade of trees, outside the main demonstration hall. The students were called in groups and asked to perform as Sravani Chittoori, Faculty Member, and Professor of Practice, analysed their show along with Prof. Ramesh Babu and others. 'The students are very excited as the Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations in Visakhapatnam this year. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is also keen on making the day a huge success and yoga volunteers were sent to the rural areas also to promote the ancient Indian concept,' Dr. Sravani told The Hindu during a break from the session. 'We have 200 Master Trainers, who were entrusted with the responsibility of training students of colleges, which were located closer to their residence. Today (June 17) is the final rehearsal for the trainers,' she said. How long does it take to learn the technique? One month is enough to learn the protocol asanas. The Chief Minister had declared Yogandhra a month ago and training sessions were being held across the State ever since. But, one should make yoga 'a way of life' to benefit from it, she says. The Yoga Village of Andhra University has a 'Naturopathy Centre' for treatment of psychosomatic and lifestyle disorders. Yoga can delay the onset of lifestyle disorders like hypertension and diabetes in individuals, who have a family history of such disorders. The steam bath at the Yoga Village can be used to remove the excess water in the body, skin cleansing, and lubrication of joints in the body. The Extension Wing of the Department offers short-term classes in yoga to the general public during the mornings and evenings. 'Our department is offering a two-year PG course in M.A. Yoga and 1-year and 6-month PG Diploma courses in Yoga. We have offered training to 2,000 Common Yoga Protocol Trainers at 32 affiliated colleges of AU, who had in turn gave basic training to their students. In all, 71,000 students of colleges affiliated to AU, have enrolled for participation in the event,' Prof. Ramesh Babu added.
