Ironman Triathlon returns to Kona in 2026, men's and women's races combined
In 2026, men and women will be competing together on the same day. In 2022, the Ironman was held over two days, separating the men and women. But officials said that was unsustainable for the Kona community.

After that, the men and women's races were held in different locations. But based on feedback from athletes, the decision was made to have everyone race together in Kona.
Senior Vice President Diana Bertsch of World Championship Events said the last time the men and women raced together in Kona was back in 2019.
'In 2020, 2021, we had to postpone, cancel and in 2021, we moved that event to St. George in Utah. It really just developed. It's a domino effect, and ultimately, we have thousands of athletes who are qualifying. In 2022, we did a two-day event in Kona and it was just not the right decision for the community. We found out about the impact was overwhelming and we had to redirect,' said Bertsch.

Bertsch said the Kona community makes the event possible.
'And it's not just this event that happens in Kona. But the world comes to Kona. It's definitely something to celebrate. We listen to our community, we have teams that go out after the race through the night and into the next day and clean up. Clean up rubbish, clean up chalk that people may have done. They want to cheer their family member, their loved ones, so they'll put chalk. Go number 345. And so we're definitely committed. It's a priority for us to ensure that we take care of the land, take care of our island. It's my home, so it's something that we've dug into to make certain that we meet those needs in every way that we can,' said Bertsch.

Budds Creek Motocross betting, odds, picks, lines: Justin Cooper, RJ Hampshire are evenly matched
One race remains in the Pro Motocross season as the 450 riders set their sights on the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX). But first, there is unfinished business in the outdoor season, and while most positions in the points and seeding for the SMX are determined, pride is still on the line and there are bonus checks to be accumulated for the Budds Creek National in Mechanicsville, Maryland. Jett Lawrence wasted no time climbing back to the top of the chart last week in the Unadilla National after suffering his longest losing streak of two races as a 450 Motocross rider. One of those losses came at the hands of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) when he was penalized a lap for fouling the start at Ironman. Regardless of whether the penalty was too harsh, his mistake was avoidable. The other loss came when he was beaten in head-to-head competition at Washougal. Jett remains the prohibitive favorite with a -278, but that is better than the eight-round average of -450 that he accumulated in his early winning streak. Hunter Lawrence (+252) finished second in both Unadilla motos and was scored second overall. That is a difference of a little less than 60 points from his Unadilla line (+193) and considerably lower than the remainder of the field. Alt Sports Data's traders fully expect the Lawrence brothers to end on a high note. Eli Tomac (+760) smiled with his lips, but there was determination in his eyes when he said he was tired of losing to the Lawrences. He has only one more opportunity to show them why he won so many championships during his storied career. The open question for Tomac is how chemistry with the team has been affected by the knowledge that he will not ride for them in 2026. Justin Cooper's (+1861) Motocross odyssey made him the No. 1 seed for the SMX Playoffs, and his steady progression is apparent in the evolution of his betting line. He debuted at 98/1 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. A strong top-five overall finish there cut his odds in half for Hangtown the following week (47/1), and since then, his line has been steadily lowered. That is a firm indication that the traders believe he is capable of stringing two solid motos together. He will need a little help from the competition, but if they turn attention to SMX, he could get it. Cooper's podium odds are +178. Notably, RJ Hampshire (+2345, overall win) has slightly lower podium odds (+165) than Copper, while his outright win odds are nearly 500 points higher. Bettors and fans can tell a lot from betting lines, and this suggests they value Hampshire's consistency over that of Cooper. In a head-to-head matchup, has them virtually even with -120 odds for Cooper and -110 for Hampshire. Dylan Ferrandis (+7476) returned to action at Ironman, but it was a last-minute decision. Ferrandis has his first betting line of the season, which is significantly higher than his Supercross season average of +6018. USA Hockey Invites 44 NHL Players To Olympic Orientation Camp: Full List
USA Hockey announced 44 players will head to the U.S. men's Olympic orientation camp in Plymouth, Mich. The camp, scheduled for Aug. 26 and 27, is mainly for administrative and team-building purposes and does not feature any formal on-ice activity or public component. All but one of Team USA's players at the 4 Nations Face-Off will attend after finishing second in that tournament. Matthew Tkachuk will not attend, but a player does not have to be at the orientation camp to be on the final Olympic roster, USA Hockey said. Tkachuk was already one of six players named to Team USA, with the others being Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy. Only five of the invitees have played in the Olympics before. Patrick Kane was at the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, while Ryan McDonagh was on the 2014 team. Brock Faber, Matthew Knies and Jake Sanderson were college hockey players on Team USA at the 2022 Olympics, which did not feature NHLers. After the Americans won gold at the IIHF men's World Championship for the first time in 92 years, 12 players from that squad are part of the orientation camp as well. Goaltenders Joey Daccord and Jeremy Swayman are among that group, as well as Clayton Keller, Tage Thompson and Zach Werenski. USA! USA! Americans Embarking On World Hockey Domination When USA defeated Sweden 5-3 in the gold-medal game of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup on the weekend, it marked the second time less than three months that the Americans have won a tournament that they traditionally almost never win. The 44 invitees consist of 25 forwards, 15 defensemen and four goaltenders. Hockey Canada, meanwhile, invited 42 NHL players to its men's Olympic orientation camp, which included 26 forwards, 13 defenders and three goaltenders. Here's the United States' full list of orientation camp participants. Forwards Matt Boldy Cole Caufield Logan Cooley Kyle Connor Jack Eichel Conor Garland Jake Guentzel Jack Hughes Patrick Kane Clayton Keller Matthew Knies Chris Kreider Dylan Larkin Auston Matthews J.T. Miller Frank Nazar Brock Nelson Shane Pinto Jason Robertson Bryan Rust Tage Thompson Brady Tkachuk Matthew Tkachuk Vincent Trocheck Alex Tuch Defenders Brock Faber Adam Fox Luke Hughes Quinn Hughes Noah Hanifin Seth Jones Jackson LaCombe Charlie McAvoy Brett Pesce Neal Pionk Jake Sanderson Brady Skjei Jaccob Slavin Alex Vlasic Zach Werenski Goaltenders Joey Daccord Connor Hellebuyck Jake Oettinger Jeremy Swayman The final American men's Olympic hockey roster is expected to be announced in early January 2026.
