New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Moldova has become the 107th member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday.
The International Solar Alliance is a global initiative launched in 2015 by India and France at COP21 in Paris.
'Moldova becomes the 107th member of the International Solar Alliance. The Republic of Moldova handed over the @isolaralliance Instrument of Ratification, during the meeting of the Ambassador of Moldova to India, Mrs. Ana Taban @ana_taban, with P. S. Gangadhar @psgangadhar, JS (Economic Diplomacy) and Head of Depository, International Solar Alliance in New Delhi today," MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on X.
He also shared some photos in his post.
It promotes the use of solar energy in agriculture, health, transport, and power generation sectors. ISA Member Countries are driving change by enacting policies and regulations, sharing best practices, agreeing on common standards, and mobilising investments, it said. PTI KND RHL RHL

Abrogation of Article 370 in Parliament The Indian government announced the abrogation of Article 370 in Parliament, effectively revoking the special status granted to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Introduced in 1949, Article 370 allowed Jammu and Kashmir its own constitution and autonomy over internal matters, except defence, foreign affairs, and communications. Its removal marked a major constitutional and political shift. The LG spoke on the need for a stronger innovation and modern technology ecosystem for sustainable agricultural practices to prioritise farmer incomes, risk mitigation and strengthening farmer-industry linkages. 'Farmer welfare is the top priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Encouraging the graduating students, Omar urged them to imbibe the ideals of SKUAST and contribute to the broader mission of rural transformation. 'Let your innovation create employment, let your knowledge build enterprises and let your compassion redefine agriculture,' he said, calling on the new graduates to be job creators rather than seekers. Commending the university's efforts, the CM appreciated the launch of the ex-situ Gene Bank, highlighting its role in conserving native seed varieties and crop diversity. 'Such infrastructure will only bear fruit when paired with the right talent,' he said, urging students and faculty to make full use of the facilities to address the evolving challenges of agri-science.

Calling the bill a 'calculated sham', former Delhi chief minister Atishi accused the BJP-led government of protecting private school interests rather than those of parents. 'This bill is not about transparency. It is about facilitating fee hikes by private schools. The BJP has delayed this bill since April so that schools could increase fees unchecked,' she alleged. Atishi said the bill, brought to the assembly in the ongoing Monsoon session, lacks any provision for a rollback of hiked fees and proposes a fee fixation committee that would be headed by the school management itself. She demanded that the bill be referred to a select committee for wider consultation and urged the government to freeze school fees at 2024-25 levels until the legislation is finalised. 'The AAP will continue to fight for the rights of Delhi's parents and children. The BJP will have to listen,' she said. The AAP MLAs on Monday walked out of the House proceedings over the bill.
