Double your hand-luggage on Ryanair, easyJet and more with this simple hack

Daily Mirror23-04-2025

A woman has shared her 'genius' travel hack to make sure you can bring as much hand luggage on board as possible - and you'll never have to pay for extra luggage when flying
A savvy traveller has been hailed for her ingenious hack to double up her hand luggage without incurring extra charges when she flies.
Known as @lifeofjazz_ on social media, the clever globetrotter divulged her ultimate tactic for breezing through airports with just carry-on baggage to bypass the hassle of checking bags.

Initially, she makes sure her carry-on is within the airline's size and weight restrictions to avoid issues at check-in. But then she shared: "I have a few tricks that I do when travelling with only hand luggage. Number one, I put a bag inside a bag. You see this bag [referencing her video], there's another bag inside of it. I usually go to Boots or Duty Free, and get a bag because they are not allowed to touch anything inside something you've bought already within the airport."
After loading the duty-free bag full of her own goods, Jazz deploys another bag. She continued: "I have a crossbody bag, obviously that's fine, it's tiny. Then I have my small suitcase, make sure you roll everything within your suitcase so it can fit."
To further streamline her travel experience, Jazz suggests getting on the plane promptly to ensure your belongings fit snugly in the overhead locker rather than wrestling them under the seat, reports Belfast Live.
Commenters on her post approved of the hack, with one remarking: "I do the duty thing too. Get a cheeky meal deal from boots and ask for the biggest bag." Echoing this sentiment, another chimed in: "People also don't realise you don't need to use those plastic bags for toiletries, you can use your own see through makeup bag, doesn't matter how big."
There are other tricks that passengers may want to deploy to increase the amount of carry-on luggage they can bring, although it's worth remembering that whether or not you're able to bring it all on depends on how lenient or observant the airline staff are feeling on a given day.

One commenter suggested a classic trick - the pillow suitcase. They wrote: "I always bring a pillow case put some clothes in."
Jeenie Weenie has become a viral sensation on TikTok since hanging up her cabin crew outfit to become a content creator fulltime. More than 11million people follow her on the video platform where she shares her tips and insights for life at 30,000 feet.
The American flight attendant recently sat down with the Mirror and shared her number one tip for flying now that she does so as a paying passenger rather than a professional. Jeenie employs the 'pillow case hack' to make her flight a little comfier, and to bump up the amount of handluggage she can bring onboard.
"I always travel with my own pillow, because the airlines' ones are too small. I travel with my big one, I stuff it with my soft items. Your jackets, sweaters, sweat pants. You'll have more space in the hand luggage. I've never seen a flight attendant take it off a passenger," the former Emirates flight attendant explained.".

American busker in UK trying to earn cash to get home makes just £5 profit

Blake Robert has arrived in the UK with no money in his wallet and a unique challenge - and he has been documenting his experience on his social media channel for all to enjoy An American has flown to the UK for a unique challenge - and he literally cannot return home until it's completed. Blake Robert, who is known on social media as @theblakerobert, landed in the UK with just a suitcase and his guitar. Without a penny in his pocket, he aims to earn enough money busking on the streets of the UK to not only support himself while he's in the country but to also fund his plane ticket home. He has been documenting his challenge on his TikTok channel, sharing exactly how much money he made in Bath on day three of his challenge. ‌ In his video, he said: "I flew to the UK with no money and now I'll have to survive off the money I make playing my guitar." ‌ After attending an open-mic night in Bath, he met up with a group of buskers to decide when and where he can play his music in the town centre. He says the meet every morning to determine who get what spot to give each artist an opportunity to show off their talents while earning money for their performances. The meeting concluded with him playing in three locations around that - with the first being right outside Bath Abbey. At this location, he made £24, $5 (£3.70) and was also gifted a punnet of green grapes. Just 15 minutes later, he was on to his next location slightly around the corner in Abbey Churchyard. ‌ He says he only made £1 because it started to rain during his second set as everyone dodged the downpour in nearby shops, cafes and restaurants. Finally, set up on Stall Street, he made £18 and pulled in a small crowd who supported his music with praise and a dance. Hungry and tried, he ended up spending £15.25 on a steak and ale pie before booking himself into a £22 hotel, leaving him with only a £5.75 profit for the day providing he didn't buy anything else and excluding his $5. ‌ Commenting on his video, one user said: "Very bold move coming to the UK with no money but basically I'm really enjoying the content so keep it coming." Another user added: "If you are trying to save money there are much cheaper places you could go - Greggs, Weatherspoon's, a local café. Pubs are pricey unless they are Weatherspoon's. What other cities are you going to?" A third user said: "I'm so invested in your journey! Bath is very expensive though!" One more user added: "You are very near Bristol, you should go there!"

Mum rants about ‘worst hols ever' & ‘disgusting food' at 4-star Greek hotel but trolls call her a ‘drama queen'

The mother had her hubby carrying her across puddles GREEK TRAGEDY Mum rants about 'worst hols ever' & 'disgusting food' at 4-star Greek hotel but trolls call her a 'drama queen' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A BRIT mum has been dubbed a ''drama queen'' after ranting about the ''worst holiday ever'' at a four-star Greek hotel. Mother-of-two, only known as TikToker @strawbz938, jetted off to Greece with her family after booking the holiday with TUI. After landing in Rhodes and checking into the resort, the mum discovered the accommodation was ''a three-star resort''. ''But because they have a water park, they're able to bump it up to a four-star. ''In my opinion, it's not even a three-star,'' she said in the TikTok video, showing viewers the conditions of the resort. The outraged mother also added that while the pool area ''looked stunning'', upon further inspection, she discovered everything was ''taped together''. After complaining to the staff, the family was then moved to a different part of the resort - however, the new room also ''wasn't up'' to her standards. ''I was under the impression that I was booking a five-star resort,'' she said, vowing to ''do research and read the reviews'' next time. Unfortunately for the holiday-goers, it ''then went from bad to worse'', as they here hit by ''a massive storm''. ''We got absolutely soaked walking back and forth from the one hotel to the other. At this point, I was just wanted to cry,'' the TikToker lamented. To their absolute horror, the area was covered by mega puddles - with the hubby having to carry the mother across, as ''there was no way'' she'd walk through the rain water in her ''90p flip flops from Primark''. Most popular treats for Brits on holiday Although the following day the weather had improved, the mother was less than impressed with the food - which she dubbed ''absolutely disgusting''. Sharing her woes online, the holiday-goer also showed viewers her plate of lasagna, salad, coleslaw and couscous. After desperately wanting to ''leave the hotel'', the family ventured out and visited the ''stunning'' Old Town. She said: ''Everyone kept telling to try and cheer up and just deal with it - that's exactly what I did for my children, I wanted them to have the best holiday ever.'' But their troubles didn't end there - as an hour after going to bed, they were woken up by ''a massive earthquake''. In the end, the mother decided that she had had ''enough'' and took the family back home. She went on in the caption: ''I know I'm lucky to have a holiday and some people aren't in a position to even go away for the weekend but when you've requested specific standards and you turn up to a lot less, it's very frustrating!'' Cheap holiday essentials IF you're jetting abroad this summer, here are the cheap holiday essentials you won't want to miss. PACKING CUBES: They're loved by mum-of-22 Sue Radford and not only do they save space in your luggage, but they'll ensure that your case is super neat and tidy. TAG TRACKER: There's nothing worse than loosing your luggage, but thanks to this handy £15 buy from B&M, you won't have to worry about that on your next trip. KIDS' CABIN BAG: Don't worry if you can't afford to splash the cash on a Trunki, as Aldi are selling an alternative dupe buy for just £29.99 - and it's great for children. HAND LUGGAGE CASE: For those that are opting to go hand luggage instead of paying a fortune for a check-in bag, Morrisons are selling extra small cases, that are perfect for taking on a flight, for only £7.99. Although TUI ''are currently dealing with the situation'', the furious TikToker - who claimed to have forked out £5k for the trip - said she didn't ''have much faith at all''. ''As for me being dramatic over the earthquake - yes, I do overreact, I overthink and I panic and when my children are involved I act fast and I just up and left, maybe if I hadn't of had the worst holiday ever to begin with I'd feel more comfortable saying after I'd calmed down!'' 'Drama queen' Since being posted online, the holiday video has taken the internet by storm, amassing close to 370k views in just one day. But while the mother was certainly far from impressed with the getaway, people online thought she was overreacting, as they branded her a ''drama queen''. One said: ''Drama queen. you cut your kids holiday short, take out board games, enjoy your time with the children!'' Another chimed in: ''Complaining about the weather and earthquake like it's TUI or the Hotels fault.'' A third joked: ''Did TUI make it rain?'' Someone else said: ''I don't think I've ever booked a holiday without extensively checking review sites. Is that not just standard practice?'' However, there were also plenty of those who agreed with the mum-of-two, with one writing: ''it looks sounds like a holiday from hell. nice that your husband carried you over the puddle lol.'' ''This is such a shame when you spend your hard earned money trying to make the best memories for your family! glad you're home safe!'' commented another.

Milford Haven school trip to Normandy brings history to life

Year six students from Milford Haven Community Primary School enjoyed a packed itinerary in the north of the country focused on culture, history and language. The group of 31 pupils, who were based in the magnificent Chateau du Baffy, sampled French delicacies such as frog legs and snails, visited a caramel factory and toured the iconic Mont Saint-Michel. They visited the Bayeux tapestry, Caen and D-Day sites, including Omaha Beach, a German battery at Longues-Sur-Mer and British and American memorials. Head teacher Stephen Thomas said: "This really was a wonderful experience and opportunity for our year six pupils to bring their learning about the war and the cultures of another country to life. "We are embarking on an exciting journey with our curriculum at the school and opportunities such as this are just the start to bring learning to life for our children in Milford Haven." Fundraising efforts reduced the cost of the trip with a bingo evening and a sponsored cycle on spin bikes at Tesco in the town that covered the distance of Milford to Normandy, raising more than £2,000.
