Card skimming device found at George, Rock Rapids Dollar Generals
LYON COUNTY, Iowa (KCAU) — If you've recently visited one of the Dollar General locations in Lyon County, you may want to keep an eye on your card statements.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, they were called to the Dollar General in George to look into what employees believed to have been a card-skimming device found at the store.
Officials confirmed that the device was a card skimmer and made contact with the Dollar General location in Rock Rapids and located another card skimmer.
Officials said that they have been reviewing video and continue to look into when the card skimmers were put into place and how many people may have been affected by the card skimmers. Officials are also still investigating the capabilities of the devices themselves to gauge how much damage they may have caused.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office recommends keeping a close eye on any transactions made with a card that may have recently been used at one of these locations. They also recommend contacting your bank or institution.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said that they hope to provide more information as they continue to investigate the situation.

Nebraska woman sentenced to 25 years following 2nd degree murder
WINNEBAGO, Neb. (KCAU) — A Winnebago, Nebraska, woman has been sentenced in federal court after being found guilty of 2nd degree murder. Authorities say nurses noted excessive makeup covering up bruising on the man's face. An autopsy determined the man's cause of death was blunt force trauma and a homicide. Woodbury County performs active threat exercise in preparation for an active shooter
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Woodbury County conducted a full-scale active threat exercise in preparation for an active shooter incident. The official name for the exercise is Operation Blue Eagle, 'So, the biggest goal of this exercise was to ensure that Woodbury County and surrounding organizations are prepared for this type of incident. We want to do everything we possibly can to serve and protect our citizens,' said Michael Montino with Woodbury County Emergency Management. Multiple agencies teamed up to practice what to do in a high-stakes situation. 'What we attempted to do today is empower our first responders,' said Montino. 'Give them the knowledge, the tools, and most importantly, with exercises, the experience to be able to handle an incident like this.' 'We've done scenarios like this within our agencies, Sioux City would do theirs. Woodbury County would do ours. It was time for us to do it together in an incident like this, everybody's coming, and we need to train together to save lives,' said Sgt. Chris Jansen with with Woodbury County Sheriff's Office. These training drills are crucial to prevent any potential mistakes. 'These are different situations, different circumstances that help us really capture all of our skills, and put them into action,' said Lt. John Nelsen with the Sioux City Fire and Rescue. 'And we all have some weaknesses, but we build on those weaknesses. That's why we do multiple scenarios.' When Siouxland Christian School was offered to be a part of this scenario, they immediately jumped at the opportunity. 'You know, we've done a lot of planning. We always do. You're never done planning. And this is just another piece of that,' said Nic Scandrett, the superintendent for Siouxland Christian School. 'When you get to see it in a live scenario like this, it really changes everything. Your perspective changes. And that's the biggest thing we learned today.' Even though the drills were at a school, Montino says this works for all locations. 'So even though the scenarios may be slightly different, the concepts are in many ways the same. Man in cape, underwear breaks into West Portsmouth Dollar General
Jun. 6—Suspect shatters glass, leaves a trail of blood and women's panties and bras WEST PORTSMOUTH — The Scioto County Sheriff's Department is investigating a break in at store and the suspect, dressed rather like Captain Underpants, stole women's undergarments. Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said the 911 center got a call around 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, from an employee of Dollar General store, located at 16 Brouse Run, West Portsmouth. The employee said that when he reported to work, he found someone had broken into the store by shattering the front glass on the door. When deputies and detectives arrived, they found a trail of blood, as well as a trail of woman's panties and bras which had been stolen from the store, leading away from the DG. Thoroughman said footage from a store surveillance cameras showed a male subject wearing what appeared to be "white underwear or panties as well as a cape. The suspect had no other clothing nor shoes on." He said the subject busted the front door glass out, walked straight to the female clothing section and grabbed several packs of panties and bras before fleeing the store on foot. "The suspect left a trail of panties and bras leading away from the store towards the roadway," Thoroughman said. Detectives were able to recover evidence which has been sent for testing.
