Omani pilgrims lauds flawless Haj
Before leaving the holy land, the pilgrims would do another 'Tawaf ' around the Holy Kaaba and hold special prayers for the suffering Palestinians.
Tawaf is the ritual of circumambulation of Mecca, in which the pilgrims offer prayers to the Almighty. Pilgrims will be able to complete it according to the dates of their return home.
This year, Oman sent 14,000 pilgrims to the holy city comprising 13,530 Omanis and 470 expats.
"Our pilgrims who used the ministry portal for the same, will return in batches from Thursday after the final rituals," said a spokesperson from the ministry.
He further said that the beautiful moments of love and brotherhood that several millions of believers from different parts of the world spent in the holy land for six days, regardless of their nationality or language, are an example to the world.
The pilgrims, led by Ahmed bin Saleh al Rashdi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, and Head of the Omani Haj Mission, reached well before the actual rituals so that they could carry out the step-by-step procedures of Haj 1446.
Following successful departure of pilgrims, entry restrictions to Mecca will be lifted from Wednesday. Umrah permits for foreigners will be issued from June 14. However, those within Saudi Arabia will be allowed from the 11th.

According to statistics, over 1.4 million international pilgrims representing more than 130 countries arrived at the holy sites this week and were transported safely and efficiently via over 20,000 buses and the Mashair Train network.
'This is one of the largest coordinated people-movements on Earth. Pilgrims were able to fulfil their rites in peace and without crowding — on their own schedule," he said.

Every Haj season builds on the last, with extensive simulations, audits, and post-event analysis feeding into a dynamic system of continuous improvement. 'Everything felt so calm and organised,' said Fatima Ahmed, a first-time pilgrim. 'I was nervous before arriving in Saudi, but the way we were guided made it feel like the journey was being carried out for us.'

Muscat – Oman has included citizens of the Republic of Armenia in its list of countries exempt from entry visa, a move announced during the fifth round of political consultations held in Yerevan on Tuesday. Passenger traffic at Oman's airports down 2.2% in H1 2025
Muscat – Passenger traffic through Oman's airports – Muscat, Salalah, Suhar and Duqm – totalled 6,921,569 by the end of June 2025, down 2.2% from 7,074,913 in the same period last year, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Muscat International Airport handled 6,233,954 passengers in the first half of 2025, a 2.4% decrease from 6,384,874 in the corresponding period of 2024. The number of flights dropped 6.9% to 44,743, compared to 48,052 flights a year earlier. Salalah Airport saw a 4.5% rise in passengers to 657,209, up from 628,951. Flights through the airport edged up 0.3% to 4,526. Suhar Airport recorded a sharp decline in passenger numbers, falling to 336 from 31,203 in the same period of 2024. Flights dropped 68.7% to 84 from 268. Duqm Airport registered a 0.6% drop in flights to 306. Passenger numbers rose slightly by 0.6% to 30,070 from 29,885. In June 2025, Indian nationals topped the list of arrivals and departures through Muscat International Airport with 79,424 arrivals and 113,759 departures. They were followed by Omanis with 62,476 arrivals and 72,617 departures and Pakistanis with 23,247 arrivals and 25,486 departures.

SALALAH: After weeks of heavy monsoon rainfall, clear skies returned to Dhofar last week, revealing a breathtaking green carpet stretched across the governorate's mountains and plains.
