Omani pilgrims lauds flawless Haj
Before leaving the holy land, the pilgrims would do another 'Tawaf ' around the Holy Kaaba and hold special prayers for the suffering Palestinians.
Tawaf is the ritual of circumambulation of Mecca, in which the pilgrims offer prayers to the Almighty. Pilgrims will be able to complete it according to the dates of their return home.
This year, Oman sent 14,000 pilgrims to the holy city comprising 13,530 Omanis and 470 expats.
"Our pilgrims who used the ministry portal for the same, will return in batches from Thursday after the final rituals," said a spokesperson from the ministry.
He further said that the beautiful moments of love and brotherhood that several millions of believers from different parts of the world spent in the holy land for six days, regardless of their nationality or language, are an example to the world.
The pilgrims, led by Ahmed bin Saleh al Rashdi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, and Head of the Omani Haj Mission, reached well before the actual rituals so that they could carry out the step-by-step procedures of Haj 1446.
Following successful departure of pilgrims, entry restrictions to Mecca will be lifted from Wednesday. Umrah permits for foreigners will be issued from June 14. However, those within Saudi Arabia will be allowed from the 11th.
Oman Haj Mission lauded Saudi Arabia for the flawless implementation of Haj. The Omani pilgrims have lauded the Saudi authorities, the Ministry of Haj and Umrah and its partners for immaculate organising of the Haj and for excellent crowd management.
According to statistics, over 1.4 million international pilgrims representing more than 130 countries arrived at the holy sites this week and were transported safely and efficiently via over 20,000 buses and the Mashair Train network.
'This is one of the largest coordinated people-movements on Earth. Pilgrims were able to fulfil their rites in peace and without crowding — on their own schedule," he said.
Saudi Arabia's mastery of crowd management is the result of decades of experience hosting the world's largest recurring religious gathering. Every Haj season builds on the last, with extensive simulations, audits, and post-event analysis feeding into a dynamic system of continuous improvement. The Kingdom's ability to harmonise massive movement with minimal disruption is not only a logistical achievement — it's a spiritual service.
'Everything felt so calm and organised,' said Fatima Ahmed, a first-time pilgrim. 'I was nervous before arriving in Saudi, but the way we were guided made it feel like the journey was being carried out for us.'
The Kingdom's Haj operation is now studied globally as a model for managing mass gatherings — religious or otherwise. With its seamless fusion of technology, infrastructure, cultural empathy, and governance, the Kingdom has shown the world how to manage crowds with care, precision, and purpose.

Oman grants visa-free entry to Armenian citizens
Muscat – Oman has included citizens of the Republic of Armenia in its list of countries exempt from entry visa, a move announced during the fifth round of political consultations held in Yerevan on Tuesday. The talks were led by H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in Foreign Ministry, and Vahan Kostanyan, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. H E Sheikh Khalifa welcomed Armenia's decision to open a resident embassy in Muscat and expressed appreciation for Armenia's recent move to exempt Omani citizens from tourist visa requirements. He informed the Armenian delegation about Oman's reciprocal decision to grant visa-free entry to Armenian nationals. The discussions also covered ways to expand bilateral cooperation across various spheres, including trade, cargo shipment, air communication, IT, education, science, culture and tourism. Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in Foreign Ministry In July, Oman's Foreign Ministry announced that Omanis would be exempt from visas when travelling to Armenia, effective July 1, 2025. Under the new policy, Omanis can stay in Armenia for up to 180 days within a one-year period without needing a prior visa. The exemption aims to boost tourism, business exchanges and cultural ties between the two nations. Earlier in April, the Armenian Cabinet approved the opening of a resident embassy in Oman, highlighting the dynamic growth of Armenia's relations with Gulf countries and deepening of friendly ties with Oman. The Armenian foreign ministry acknowledged Oman's balanced foreign policy and neutral stance in regional matters, which it credits for fostering dialogue and cooperation among regional powers. The visa exemption and diplomatic developments mark a significant step in enhancing the strategic partnership between Oman and Armenia, opening new avenues for economic and cultural collaboration.

Sunshine draws tourists to Dhofar's waterfalls, heritage sites
SALALAH: After weeks of heavy monsoon rainfall, clear skies returned to Dhofar last week, revealing a breathtaking green carpet stretched across the governorate's mountains and plains. The sunshine, which broke through from the beginning of last week continued throughout the week, drawing large crowds to Dhofar's natural wonders and heritage sites. One of the most anticipated sights was the reappearance of waterfalls at Ayn Korr, a popular natural spring in Salalah. These seasonal cascades typically begin flowing in mid-August as rain-fed groundwater levels rise — marking the peak of the Khareef Dhofar Season. 'The view today is absolutely stunning', said an Omani visitor. 'Just a few days ago, the area was blanketed in heavy fog. Now, the green mountains and blue skies are like something out of a dream — especially for those of us living in the Gulf'. Tourists from across the region have been arriving in growing numbers, drawn by Dhofar's unique monsoon climate, which offers a refreshing escape from the intense summer heat elsewhere in the GCC. 'I've lived in the Gulf for nearly a decade', said an Indian tourist based in the UAE. 'But I never imagined a place like this existed — rain, greenery and pleasant temperatures in the middle of summer. After seeing photos online, I brought my family here and it has exceeded all expectations'. Sunshine draws tourists to Dhofar's waterfalls, heritage sites Many travellers are combining nature excursions with cultural discovery. A Saudi visitor to the ancient site of Sumhuram in the Wilayat of Taqah expressed his surprise at the depth of the region's historical significance. 'I had no idea the Arabian Peninsula held such rich heritage', he said. 'The site is beautifully maintained and well-documented. I truly appreciate Oman's commitment to preserving and showcasing its historical landmarks'. Sumhuram, once one of the oldest known ports in the Arabian Peninsula, has become a major heritage attraction during the Khareef Dhofar Season, drawing history lovers and families alike. This year's Khareef Season has seen a notable surge in tourism, bolstered by targeted government initiatives, improved infrastructure and active promotional campaigns. Authorities have also stepped up inspection efforts to ensure service quality, while Dhofar Municipality and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism continue to roll out a wide range of cultural and family-oriented events. With monsoon rains still feeding the region's springs and valleys; and the sun now casting light on its natural beauty, Dhofar has once again reaffirmed its place as the Gulf's ultimate summer destination.
