WhatsApp Bans Over 98 Lakh Accounts In India In June Due To THIS Reason
WhatsApp Account Ban In June 2025: In the month of June, WhatsApp banned more than 98 lakh accounts in India as part of its efforts to stop abuse and harmful activity on the platform. Out of these, around 19.79 lakh accounts were banned proactively, even before users sent any complaints. WhatsApp also received 23,596 complaints from users in India. After reviewing them, action was taken on 1,001 accounts. This included banning some accounts and restoring others that were wrongly banned. Most of the complaints, about 16,069, were related to ban appeals. As a result, action was taken on 756 accounts. Other complaints were about account support, product-related issues, and safety concerns. WhatsApp explained that it detects abuse at three stages — when an account is created, while messages are being sent, and when it receives negative feedback like user reports or blocks. WhatsApp Focuses On User Safety The company added that prevention is its primary focus, as stopping harmful activity before it happens is more effective than detecting it afterward. The platform emphasised its commitment to user safety, saying it uses end-to-end encryption, safety tools, and dedicated teams to fight abuse, misinformation, and security threats. The Meta-owned platform also works with experts to promote cybersecurity and protect election integrity, the messaging platform said in the report. Meanwhile, last month, the messaging platform has introduced two new tools – 'Status Ads' and 'Promoted Channels'. WhatsApp Features According to WABetaInfo, these features were available to select beta users on Android. Status Ads work like Instagram Story ads. Now, business accounts can post paid content that will show up in people's Status updates. These ads will appear between status updates from friends and family, with a clear 'sponsored' label so people can easily spot them as ads. (With IANS Inputs)

Truecaller call recording on iPhones to stop from September 30: Here's how to save them now
Truecaller, the popular caller ID and spam blocking app, has announced that the call recording feature on iPhones will be discontinued starting September 30. In a statement to TechCrunch, Truecaller's head of iOS, Nakul Kabra, said that the company took the decision to do away with call recording on iOS as it wants to focus more on other features like Live Caller ID and automatic spam call blocking. Introduced in June 2023, Truecaller's call recording feature was initially available to paying subscribers on iPhone, but later expanded to the Android version of the app. Since Apple does not allow third-party apps to record calls natively, the company had to resort to using a recording line which merges with calls. According to Kabra, the method not only increased the complexity but also led to a sharp rise in costs. On X, several Truecaller users shared a notification which said, 'We are discontinuing the Call Recording feature on Truecaller for iPhone.' The pop-up message also asked users who often use the functionality to download their recordings, as everything will be deleted after September 30. To save your call recordings on iPhone, launch Truecaller on your phone and head over to the Record tab. Now, tap on the Settings icon, click on the option named Storage Preference and change it to iCloud storage. If the option is disabled, you will need to manually enable it by going to Settings > Your name > iCloud > Saved to iCloud > Turn on Truecaller. In case you want to download specific recordings, head over to the Record tab and swipe left on the recordings you want to save. Now, tap on the Share or Export option, and the app will ask you where you want to save the recording. Truecaller's decision to discontinue the call recording feature on iPhone comes at a time when Apple has introduced its very own native call recording feature.

Court victory forces Google to abandon anti-competitive practices The required changes stem from Judge James Donato 's permanent injunction following Epic's successful lawsuit. Key provisions would have forced Google to stop requiring apps to use Google Play Billing , allowing developers to freely direct users to alternative payment methods and app stores. Additionally, Google would have been prohibited from sharing revenue or offering perks to secure exclusive app store arrangements with device manufacturers and carriers. Google argued in its emergency stay request that implementing these changes within 14 days would "expose users and developers to substantial risks and jeopardize the entire Android ecosystem." The company claimed concerns about malware exposure and payment security vulnerabilities if developers could link to external downloads and bypass Google's billing system. Bigger changes to Android app store ecosystem still coming While the emergency stay provides temporary relief, Google faces more substantial changes ahead. The injunction will eventually require Google to carry rival app stores within Google Play and share its complete app catalog with competitors like the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Xbox Store. The three-year injunction, running until November 2027, mirrors some victories Epic achieved against Apple in separate antitrust litigation. Google has signaled potential appeals to both the full Ninth Circuit and Supreme Court as it continues fighting the court-ordered dismantling of what judges have affirmed constitutes an illegal monopoly.
