Yeida to allot 100 acres land for electric vehicles
GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has decided to allot a 100-acre land parcel to Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Welfare Trust (EVMWT) that will make EVs, officials said on Thursday. The authority issued Letter of Intent (LOI) on Thursday after the agency (EVMWT) demanded it for the land, as they have got multiple manufacturers who want to develop an integrated project near Noida International airport. The authority assured them of providing land in Sector 8.
'The EVMWT will set up a dedicated cluster for EV autorickshaw and two-wheeler production, along with component manufacturing. The land acquisition work is currently in progress in Sector 8. The LoI issued for the 100-acre allotment is subject to approval of the Invest UP Empowered Committee, state policy guidelines, and other applicable regulatory norms,' said Yeida chief executive officer (CEO) Arun Vir Singh.
'The Trust has informed the authority that over 150 units associated with it intend to set up manufacturing facilities. This initiative is expected to provide a major boost to the region's manufacturing sector,' the CEO added.
Yeida said that a start-up manufacturing EV batteries for two-wheelers, including Royal Enfield, will be allotted 10,000 sqm in the 206-acre Electronics Manufacturing Cluster-2 (EMC-2) in Sector 10. Havells has already been allotted 50 acres here as the anchor company, and three other major firms have also secured plots.
'Neenjas Electric has been issued a LOI for manufacturing electric vehicle chargers, LED lighting panels, and related solar-based technologies in Sector 10. Founded in 2021, the start-up is based in Noida and operates manufacturing units in Greater Noida,' said Singh.
Last week, Dixon Technologies secured 22.5 acres in EMC 2.0, becoming the third company to join the hub. Officials said Dixon has received the LOI to set up a manufacturing unit for mobile phones, consumer electronics, telecom equipment, lighting products, and white goods.
Approvals were also issued to two other companies—Ascent-K Circuit and Aurionpro Toshi Automatic Systems—for setting up units under the central government's scheme. The 206-acre cluster has seen strong interest from top industrial players, officials added.
'The land acquisition process in Sector 10 is also ongoing. The EMC 2.0 project was formally approved by union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada on Wednesday. Earlier, it received in-principle approval from the MeitY (ministry of electronics and information technology) during the 7th project review committee meeting held in April,' the CEO added.

MP secures 252 MW hydropower from Arunachal to meet rising energy demand
Bhopal: In a strategic move to bolster its renewable energy portfolio, the Madhya Pradesh government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for the procurement of 252 megawatts of electricity. The agreement was formalised in Bhopal between the MP Power Management Company and NHPC, with the power allocation sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Power. The power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed by Rakesh Thukral, Chief General Manager of MP Power Management Company, and Omkar Yadav, General Manager of NHPC, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav. Under the agreement, Madhya Pradesh will receive 252 MW from NHPC's multipurpose hydropower project located in the Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project, being developed on the Dibang river, is expected to be commissioned by 2031–32. Officials noted that the electricity from this project will help meet peak demand for over three hours during the Rabi season and between nine to nineteen hours during other periods. Chief Minister Yadav described the agreement as a forward-looking step to ensure energy security for the state's growing agricultural and industrial sectors. He emphasised that Madhya Pradesh, being an agriculture-based state, is witnessing a steady rise in electricity consumption, particularly in rural and irrigation-intensive areas. The state's total power demand is projected to reach 20,000 MW by the end of the current financial year, power department officials said. The Lower Dibang Valley project is one of India's largest multipurpose hydropower initiatives, designed not only to generate clean energy but also to aid in flood control and water management in the northeastern region. Its integration into Madhya Pradesh's grid reflects a broader national strategy to promote inter-state energy cooperation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Officials from the energy department said that this long-term power purchase will enhance grid stability and support the state's transition toward sustainable energy. The agreement also aligns with Madhya Pradesh's broader energy roadmap, which includes investments in solar and wind power under various central schemes. With this MoU, Madhya Pradesh positions itself among the leading states in leveraging hydropower to meet future energy needs while contributing to national climate goals.

Modern technology and enhanced surveillance across national highways for curtailing road safety violations
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will implement advanced traffic management system (ATMS) with real-time tracking of safety violations and simultaneous issuance of challans for enhancing surveillance and road safety across all national highways with four or more lanes totalling 30,000 km in the next 2-3 years, according to senior officials of NHAI. The ATMS installation on a stretch of 56.46 km of Dwarka Expressway in the national capital region has been concluded, senior NHA officials told a group of journalists during a visit organised to the command and control centre of the Dwarka project. This stretch is the maiden project to be executed under the revised policy for ATMS brought out in October 2023 that enhances enforcement across 14 categories of violations such as triple riding, helmet and seatbelt violations, wrong lane or direction driving, presence of animals on the highway, and pedestrian crossings.. 'The focus of the new policy is to incorporate enforcement in addition to surveillance and integrate the police department so that challans can be issued. Earlier the end-user was NHAI, now it is the enforcement agencies,' explained one NHAI official who didn't want to be quoted. The new policy allows local police to generate e-challans through an API [Application Programming Interface]-based system that enables software applications to talk to each other. 'A specific incident about a road safety violation is created at our centre. Subsequently, the National Informatics Centre, which is the technology partner of the Central government, pushes this information to the police department and a challan is generated,' the above quoted official elaborated. On June 26, IHMCL also wrote to Delhi Police to start issuing challans based on the ATMS installed on Dwarka Expressway. The ATMS system ensures the highways are enabled with technology for 'real-time intelligence and incident management and analytics,' according to a handout from the IHMCL. Implementation of the ATMS system is already underway for other projects, which include Delhi-Agra Expressway, Lucknow Ring Road and the upcoming third ring road for New Delhi, the Urban Extension Road 2 (UER-2). A stretch of 20,000 kms was equipped with an older ATMS prior to the 2023 guidelines. At Dwarka Expressway, the ATMS system is supported by 110 pan-tilt-zoom cameras with each camera at every 1 km for real time monitoring that are also equipped with basic AI intelligence to detect accidents and breakdowns. There are also 15 Video Incident Detection and Enforcement Systems (VIDES) or a system of cameras installed on gantries with each such system deployed at a distance of 10 km which is capable of detecting 14 kinds of violations with high level of accuracy and is further connected to NIC and police departments. VIDES also allows vehicle counting and classification for monitoring traffic data. There are also six Vehicle Acutated Speed Display on LED screens at intervals of 20 km that use radar based detection to warn road users if they are nearing the upper speed limit and serves as a speed calming measure. Ten variable messaging sign boards or screens have also been installed for real-time updates to road users on traffic conditions, diversions, weather, and incidents to improve driver awareness.

Confidence Petroleum bags contract worth Rs 42-cr from PSUs
Confidence Petroleum India announced that it has received been awarded bottling assistance contracts aggregating to Rs 42.09 crore from prominent Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The company has received contracts from Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). The contracts include assistance for bottling 3 lakh cylinders for BPCL at Kollam and 1.2 lakh cylinders for HPCL at Trivandrum, both with a contract duration of 10 years. Additionally, the company will assist in bottling 90,000 cylinders for IOCL at Murbad over a three-year term. The company said that it has already participated in the tender issued by IOCL for Sarangpur and has been shortlisted for the same. The Letter of Intent (LOI) is expected to be issued shortly, confirming the allocation. Confidence Petroleum India is a fully integrated LPG & CNG company. Its segments include LPG Cylinder Manufacturing and auto LPG and CNG dispensing stations. The companys consolidated net profit surged 129.61% to Rs 22.80 crore on 46.67% jump in revenue from operations to Rs 924.81 crore in Q4 FY25 over Q4 FY24. The counter declined 9.35% to Rs 50.59 on the BSE.
