Crime branch: Rana uncooperative during 8-hour questioning

officer.
Rana (64), a Pakistani-born Canadian national, was arrested in the US soon after the Nov 26, 2008, Mumbai terror attacks. He was convicted in the US and extradited to India on April 9 to face trial.
When asked whether the crime branch will submit an application to take his custody, the officer said they will take a decision after the review. Rana is currently in custody of
National Investigation Agency
. In Sept 2023, Mumbai crime branch filed a 405-page supplementary chargesheet against Rana, a former military doctor in Pakistan, in the terror attack cases. Around 14-15 witnesses were named in the chargesheet, the last filed in the case.
Rana faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and waging war against India. He is accused of facilitating the attacks by providing support to key conspirator
David Coleman Headley
, including facilitating travel documents for him. Mumbai police have said they have evidence against Rana in the form of documents on his travels and his stay in India. The prosecution's case is Rana was the link between the ISI, accused-turned-approver Headley and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Delhi court extends 26/11 plotter Tahawwur Rana's judicial custody till July 9
A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the main accused in the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, till July 9.
